i dont mean to disrespect the directors but i got sick and tired of all the remakes, tons of movies got remake instead of having an actually original idea for a sequel thats fine.... but now my 2 favorite movies are going to have a remake instead of a good solid sequel .. first i heard about a remake to halloween and i really felt shit because its a great series and after resurrection i think it should have a worthy sequel , but we got a remake alright... and now i hear that friday the 13th 11 is going to be a remake , so come on wtf??? cant you make a decent sequel already? wtf is wrong with all the directors? too lazy to make a good storyline? i am sorry for attacking in this thread like this its just that i got so tired of those remakes, what do you think about them?
cking
some of the remakes are OK but most of them aren't because they are just so different from the original. they should leave some movies like Friday the 13th alone because no matter how hard they try to make it like the original, they fail every time. you got to have the same people and the same director to have any shot of making it right and that possibility is still low because this is 2006 not 1980. it will eventually turn into a chick horror flick with terrible characters. is the setting now or 80's?because if it is now then they a better chance but if it is the original setting then it won't work. one thing about these remakes is that the time line is misused or poorly done, they can't make up their mind if it is today or 20 years ago.

thats soo stupid to remake the friday the 13th series was good enough they dont need another one, the halloween one might be good becuase rob zombie is doing it but still i agree

Rob Zombie should be making new stuff as hes supposed to be part of the new wave of horror
hes just doing what the SWITCHBLADE ROMANCE guy did...taking the money and doin a sequel(although HILLS HAVE EYES was a goodie but id rather see him do sumat new)
Eli Roth was given loads of remakes after Cabin Fever and passed in favour of doing a new flick, which im glad he did
HOSTEL RULES!
Mind you anything that prevents Rob Zombie from making music is a plus

Professional remake house Platinum Dunes and Universal's genre arm (Rogue Pictures) have signed a deal -- and the result will be (at least) four more horror remakes. On deck are redos of "The Hitcher," "Near Dark," "The Changeling," and "The Birds."
......
oh damn

Im 100% against remakes ive hated every one ive seen. As far as friday the 13th remake is concerned im not even gonna think about watching it beccause betsy palmer wont be mrs Voorhees. If jason is the killer then thats the crappest idea ever.
vintageSW77
well im cold on Near Dark but i like the other 3 and like most of the remakes so far in all genres that have been n gone ill probably stay clear
though i may give into The Birds remake
hank_mccoy
even if the remakes will be good its still suck, i mean as a fan of both halloween and friday the 13th i am waiting years now for a decent sequel and many many other fans just like me... and what do we get? a remake? instead of a new sequel to explain more and continue the great series we get a remake for the years we waited? so we are going to see that same thing we already saw maybe with some little changes? its a disrespect to the fans and to the series IMO
vintageSW77
Same im gonna get with Evil Dead series....no sequel but a remake.
Theres an exception though
Romereos Land of the Dead was terrible...i know 3 people who fell asleep in seperate occasions watching it at the flicks!...
whereas the remake of DAWN of the Dead was fantastic!

there are some good remakes but when it comes to an unfinished series like friday the 13th and halloween they need a sequel to continue the story but what they do is just leaving errors and creating a remake instead of focusing on the story line , with all due respect to rob zombie as a director and a person but as a halloween fan i cant understand how could he do something like that to the series, and before his remake they wanted to do michael mayers origins, a movie about michaels childhood, wtf is wrong with directors today , 4 years since resurrection and they cant come up with a good story line to cover that piece of crap? 5 years since jason x and they cant come up with anything new? **** the remakes

Depends on the film. I really dont consider Friday the 13th 1 a classic. I wouldn't mind a remake. Halloween is another story. I consider that to be a classic amongst most horror movies. I consider Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead, and Suspiria to be among a few that are untouchable.

Since when has Friday the 13th not been a classic?
It has a cult following much like Clockwork Orange has.

Just so you know... The remake of Halloween is being made by Rob Zombie (house of 1000 corpses, The devil's rejects) and it's not going to be a remake it's just taking the name and the killer, it will have a totally new story line.

It has a cult following much like Clockwork Orange has. I stated that I personally don't consider it a classic but I like later installment's in the series but I understand its considered a cult classic.
The Core
Horror is a derivative genre. Each one is just another clone of the other in some form. Don't act so surprised and bitter.

**** all the movies you guys mentioned even if I like them. I hate all of you.
