He did put the whammy on 6 of the Justice League at once in his first encounter, imprisoned Gammemnae (an insanely powerful mage) in Atlantis for 3,000 using Kyle Rayner's heart and the souls of the JLA, and in general is a very strong mage.

His Inukchuck move grants him major physical power too.
