In a versus match up where Jean will be out to kill her opponent at all costs, she will not die. Nothing can make her die.

Galactus would be able to overcome The Phoenix Force with the huge amount of Power Cosmic he has. Galactus isn't the strongest being in MArvel in fact he is owned too much. But I see no way of Phoenix to beat The World Devourer...

Which is irrelevant in both cases.

In the first set of scans, Galactus was indeed hungry, but if you actually bothered to read and analyse what was being said as opposed to being an airhead and focusing on the artwork, you'd see Galactus illustrate his limitations as opposed to a being like Phoenix.

He is a limited being. He requires external sustenance. He eats, he exerts, he uses up that energy and needs to eat another planet. Phoenix on teh other hand is hooked up to an unlimited energy source, so while Galactus may be able to hang with her for all of a few seconds, he would eventually use up all his resources whilst she would carry on strong.

Read the scans.

As for the second case. Jean was weak as well. In that story instead of killing herself at the end of the Dark P Saga, she had a psychic lobotomy, which removed all of the psychic parts of her brain. She lost her powers.

Then as Cyclops was getting pounded something within her clicked and she gained them again, however she stated that she was weak and at that point she had limits and if even could match those current limits it was Galactus. However at the same time she said her power was getting stronger the more and more she used it.


She faced Galactus and dominated the battle. His energy blasts did nothing to her, whilst hers made him cry out in pain. He retreated claiming that if he stayed he would beat Phoenix.

Claims that went unproven and claims that became irrelevant when Phoenix eventually gained all of her power back and she was corrupted again and consumed by her dark side, lashing out and consuming the universe.

I hope youre clear on matters now?

You should know better than to take anything GS posts as a legitimate source of information.

So, Master owns you again. No wonder you didn't want to give Rew the issue number!

It's all about interpretation, really with cosmic beings it depends on the writer and the plot. In that issue Phoenix beat Galactus, albeit a hungry one. That was the story. The loophole was left so another writer could if they wished have a fed Galactus put up a better fight or win. Vs. threads are stupid for this very reason, they create false parameters and remove the plot and writers input, which is of course what makes a story by definition. The storyteller. That's why two witnesses to an event may recount very different interpretations of what happened. Ask any Police officer who has interviewed witnesses.

Ive just looked back at my post and i did include that first scan where he says he was hungry. Go have a look for yourself.

All Masters has done is crop the scan to make it look as if i havent.

The fact that you just hopped on Masters rod, accepted what he said and attacked me like that despite the fact that hes lying shows us just how whipped hes got you.

Each to their own i guess.

I also asked people to PM me AND Mr Masters about being judges for the match and i said that me AND Mr Masters would have to come to an agreement on who those judges would be.

Mr Masters was absent for days when i first challenged him. Then he came on and said he'd accept the challenge. I PMed him saying lets agree on the judges, he said he was really busy and doesnt have alot of time for the forums right now.

Something his daily posting of essays ever since somewhat contradicts.

Now hes saying he doesnt need to be face me on a challenge thread.

Like I mentioned before, a third party needs to start it, a third party needs to pick the judges.

That way you're both given time to prepare your arguments, etc.

Putting this back to topic, this last scan has me intrigued. We know from the beginning that Galactus is hungry and not his full self, but thats besides the point. At the end he states, "The stench of death clings to you no less than to me" when Phoenix tells him to renounce his evil ways and that he's to weak to fight anymore.

This is telling me that Phoenix is in no shape to continue either although she doesnt appear to be in to bad of shape through the pictures. I really dont know who would win this contest, but i'm leaning towards the side in which Galactus would win if he fed and was full. Just my opinion.

Interesting interpretation. I don't think the future generations bit had been added at that time, I think Galactus is reffering to her then hunger which would drive her to consume a star system.

I'm sure GS can resort to insults, however it's the magnitude and malice behind those attacking him at present which shocks me.

It was proven that phoenix can beat galactus. Even though he was hungry she beat him easily, his power didnt faze her. Now if he wasnt hungry he would put up more of a challenge, he might tickle her with his power but he would still lose. The lady consumed an entire universe, it cant get no powerful than that.

I remember in the Dark Pheonix saga, the original, some character made a comment comparing Galactus to Dark Pheonix.


The character said that while Galactus devours worlds, Dark Pheonix devours far more than that.

She is the much larger threat to the Universe...now this could be due to the fact that Dark Pheonix is an irrational mass murderer, while Galactus will only eat to sustain his existance...

However, I would personally take a threat from Dark Pheonix far more seriously than a threat from Galactus....

A question I'm very intersted in someone answering is: When is Galactus NOT hungry? When he's not seen? I just think it's a ridiculous notion to always harp on a fed or full powered Galactus when there is virtually no such thing. Whenever Galactus is having a tiff with someone, he's always hungry--that's when he shows up. I think it's perfectly acceptable form that Galactus be weakened from hunger, because he always is.

And it's pretty obvious that all DP has to do is let Galactus wear himself down. He admits that he can't keep up with the output of Phoenix' power. It's simply a matter of time. And DP can always warp somewhere where there's a nice tasty sun for a snack. Or transport G to a dimension where there would be no nourishment for him.

GS has been insulting me for the longest through out many different threads, you must be knew to this madness.

If you want to formulate an opinion on this matter you should research it more and you will find that I'm only throwing stones BACK at him.


I've taken down ALL the hype he manifested in this forum about the Phoenix, and that's his pain, so again whatever.

And it's not an agenda or a vendetta, but in every thread that involves a Phoenix vs thread, GS demeans the FEATS of the other opponent, tap dancing around the FACT with speculation and straight up fantastical theories, all in an effort to say that only Phoenix can hold a Universe and "break down it's component parts, and blah blah blah, ... it's UNHEARD of in Marvel"

Give a break, "unheard of in Marvel?" ... when you got characters that Create Universes from scrath, "component parts and all" ... remake Universes and erase them with a thought.

And Jean On Panel was told "this ISN'T as easy as it looks" whatever it was she did (opinions differ) on top of this, she needed to do it at the ATOMIC level.

Sounds impressing but NOT as impressing as those who can restructure Universes in an instant with a thought, or heck go ahead and just CREATE Universes,

as Entropy did
as Cosmic Containment Units have done
as Nemesis the Infinity Being did
as the Ultimate Nullifier does
as pre-retcon and post-retcon Beyonder did
as the Living Tribunal did
Baron has seen Genis-vell in the certain future creating Universes

these events have all taken place On Panel and in every instance Eternity or at least the 616 reality is meantioned or involved.

If i may point out something in this heated debate, the scans showing is not Jean Grey the good old Phoenix but is in fact her daughter Rachel Summers that temporarily possessed the power of the phoenix, so in my opinion the scans are not really useful

IMHO, Dark Phoenix or White Crown Phoenix destroys Galactus. Simple. Galactus is a force of nature, yes. Phoenix Force is truly immortal. All cosmic beings suffer a 'loss'. Hell, if Galactus was all powerful Earth would cease. Not gonna happen. Maybe in a comic book sometime soon, Phoenix Force and Galactus can team.
