How does Mentor win, I don't think I ever read anything he was in.

Doom.

Depends on the Doom he's fighting. If it's pants on head Doom with overcomplicated plots that he tries to plan during the fight to win it Mentor takes it. If it's a good Doom with some prep time and potential sorceror supreme (as stated by Dr. Strange) then Doom takes it easily. Maybe tech dominant version too i.e. prefers tech over magic.
