The signups don't actually happen until the start of december .... and I think there are only 16 places available (for 8 teams of 2)

well you have to pick several heroes for your side, and then decide on a tactic that would help you achieve victory...

you cant have zatanna say 'raeppasid' and win the match that easily... i think thats what he meant...

You and a partner pick three heros/villains/whatever at the beginning of the fight. You argue for one, your partner argues for another and you jointly argue for the last. For this tourney, their power level has to be below Thanos.

Then you go throughout the tourney arguing why your characters can beat the others.

The special rules such as 'no reality warping', etc. pertains to methods in the battle that you can use to win.

Agreed. I'm hesitant to enter this tournament, since I'm not sure I would hold enough expertise in the 'herald levels' to hold up my end of a debate.

I just think the TYPES of skill required are different.

In a herald level Tourney, for example, it seems to me that the winner is mostly dependent upon the draft, and not upon the debating.

With street levellers, it seems more debate-oriented.

But that's just me.

With a lower power set, it leaves a lot more room for skill and such, and debating who better uses their powers and who demonstrates a higher level of skill, before you get into the higher levels, which consists more of the best picks for powerset combinations, etc.
