50's: "La Bamba" - Richie Valens

60's: "My Girl" - The Temptations

70's: "Let's Get It On" - Marvin Gaye

80's: "I Just Called To Say I Love You" - Stevie Wonder

90's: "Only God Can Judge Me" - Tupac

00's: Can't say; still 3 years left to go. (Although I can honestly say that so far, this decade has largely dissapointed me.)

What decade was wonderwall? 90's or 00's?

50's: Really can't say... Possibly some of Presley's stuff.

60's: Let it Be - The Beatles

70's: Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd (1st popped it's head up here, was released on single in the 80's though.)

80's: Billy Jean - Michael Jackson

90's: Paranoid Android - Radiohead

00's: The Pot - Tool (So far)

bakerboy
Well, let it be was from 1970.

Kid Kurdy
Okay, absolutely NOT the best songs, just songs from those periods I happen to like.

30 : Strange Fruit (Billie Holiday)

40 : That lucky old sun (Louis Armstrong)

50 : Rawhide (Frankie Laine)

60 : Riders on the storm (The Doors)

70 : Mercy mercy me (Marvin Gaye)

80 : Time (Tom Waits)

90 : Democracy (Leonard Cohen)

But again, these are not the best. I wouldn't have a clue what the best songs are. There's so much choice.

It's Billie Jean, not Billy, you mugtards.

50s: Good Golly, Miss Molly by Little Richard.

60s: All Along the Watchtower by The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

70s: 2112 by Rush.

80s: Purple Rain by Prince & The Revolution.

90s: Midlife Crisis by Faith No More (At least right now, hard decade to choose).

00s: Wings for Marie (Pt. 1)/10,000 Days (Wings Pt. 2) by Tool.

The closest choice for me was the 90s.

Ho, sweet, I will jsut agree with 50's to 70's and will spare me some thinking. Which is good. I might have gotten a tumor or something.

80's - Heaven Knows I am Miserable Now - The Smiths
90's - Karma Police - Radiohead
00's - You have killed me - Morrissey

it's funny, I know I will hate my list the second the edit time is over.

That's better, Poopy Pants.

Also, I'd like to do a Bardock, and amend my list after the delightful 15-minute edit function has expired...

After careful consideration, I have realised I was a fool to choose Bo Rap as the best song of the 70s. That accolade's rightful owner is Three Little Birds by a man named Bob. Bob Marley.

Good, Wings for Marie is quite boring... hmm

Bardock42
I shall listen to it now and then decide for once and all and absolute and without a word standing against it whether it is boring, an extended introduction or just a fine song.

§P0oONY
To people with no attention span and appreciation, yes.

I chose the latter because it's the actual song, where as Wings is more of an extended introduction.

-AC

It just didn't really have much substance. It works well as an intro to 10,000 days though.

Bardock42
It's good. You are all haters.

§P0oONY
It's just definitely not a contender for the best song of the decade.

50s: love me tender by elvis presley.

60s: strawberry fields forever by the beatles

70s: imagine by john lennon

80s: lets dance by david bowie

90s: mmmm difficult. Maybe i want love by elton john.

Victor Von Doom
I actually think Wings for Marie is a contender; moreso than 10,000 Days as well.

Weird, you are wrong.

It's not an option.

Hence why I consider it one complete song, two parts of the same whole.

As for it not being contendor for song of the decade, of course it is. Complete or either part on it's own. I'd just choose the latter.

You obviously just didn't click with it for whatever reason. It's ok, happens to lots of people.

-AC
Well, I've never really concentrated on it, as I only ever really listen to music while I'm doing other things. Maybe if I listen to it without distraction It'll click properly. I don't see any problem with you counting both of them into one decade in this thread though, as the track listing itself says that they are just different parts of Wings. Together I'd definitely class them as a contender, it was the highlight of their show when I say them live.

Darth Macabre
50's: "Johnny B. Goode" - Chuck Berry.

60's: "The Letter" - The Box Tops.

70's: "Hotel California" - The Eagles or "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" Stevie Wonder.

80's: "Don't Stop Believin'" - Journey.

90's: "Wonderwall" - Oasis.

00's: Still not over yet, but there are some front runners.

M.T. STYLE
Rock
50s Jailhouse Rock - Elvis
60s Hey Jude - Beatles
70s Free Bird - Lynrd Skynrd
80s Going Underground - Clash
90s Wonderwall - Oasis

Good list. I was tempted by Jailhouse Rock, Freebird, and Wonderwall when I made my list too.
