Here is a ? for you guys.. Lets say that in the Marvel U Magneto would from the start of his days as a man in tights had decided that he wanted to become what Superman is to the people or world of Dc Earth.. and stayed the course for his entire life on Marvel Earth... Magneto saying, telling all that would listen to him that he is the defender of all , for justice and all on the same level as Superman for humans and mutants... so with that being said, how diffrent if any would Marvel Earth be today if Magneto was to try to be there Superman? This is still the same Eric just with a very strong believe in world peace for of mankind.....

Magneto wins. Magneto is usually a teambuster in Marvel, it takes a lot of heroes working in unison to take him down.

A wellwritten Magneto would handily defeat GL.

Magneto controls electromagnetic forces.

GL controls electromagnetic forces, PLUS a bunch of other shit.

GL wins. Every time

As if the shields dont' counter that. There is too much electromagnetic energy that the rings have to watch out for in space. Magneto won't be a problem to a Gl.

The rings constructs are made of hard plasma. But that isn't all the rings can do. The rings can control the electromagnetic spectrum as well. They can convert the wearer into a superbeing by changing thier dna. They are most def out of magneto's league.

I seem to recall Superman punking John TWICE, and Supergirl straight up embarrassing him. John doesn't really have any great feats save Rebirth.

We're also talking about somebody who's gotten the better of Thor on a few occassions.

You guys fail to realize that the only way for a good story to go where the heroes give the sense that they are indeed challenged is to have what is called CIS AND PIS. outerspace is filled with all kinds of Electromagnetic storms and such. Plastic still has a magnetic field... Strong enough magnetic energy could still effect it.

Which part was piss poor writing? The fact that Dr. Polaris took control of Kyle's ring, or the fact that he made Kyle hit himself repeatedly with the ring?

Or, the fact that a few pages later Kyle admitted as per his own words:

"He's got a counter for every one of us"?

And frankly, using a bunch of Kyle's top feats for John in this debate just doesn't cut it, I'm afraid. Especially considering Kyle>>>>John.

Yeah, going three pages w/ Fernus is pretty impressive. But in the first page, he got in a cheap shot, and in the second page, he blocked an offensive strike from Fernus. He still ended up getting owned.

The mind switching thing is also impressive as well.

Too bad Magneto's got one of the strongest wills in all of Marvel. He's been able to stand up to a full-out telepathic assault from Charles before. His defenses are also strong enough to resist the combined telepathic attacks from Professor X and Jean Grey.

Once again, I think John is a lot more powerful than Magneto. I guess you missed that part, huh? John wins this one 8/10. All I'm telling you is there ARE ways for Magneto to win this fight. In the JLA/Avengers x-over, Monica was able to absorb Oan energy, and she can only absorb energies that are a part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Blue Superman also messed up Kyle with electromagnetism as well. So has Dr. Polaris...

Anyway, I think you're just desperate for the tourney to start. Don't worry, it's coming up soon...

I give you the fact that Power wise, GL takes this by a HUGE margin.

But If Magneto gets first strike, then he can just destroy John's ring.

Thats the inherent problem in all of this. He CANT. Check it out, a GL has gone through a BLACKHOLE, and come out ok. Do you know how much gravity would be pressuring on the ring? Magneto cannot generate MORE power than a blackhole

Magneto is always portrayed as a teambuster. He takes on Xmen and Avengers and other groups of heroes that include Thor with no problem.

GL, on the other hand, is a member of a team that includes Superman and other heavy hitters. He doesn't take on multiple guys at the same time like Magneto does.

mentality is part of a GLs power. His will is all he has. Magneto is NOTHING compared to a GL

He doesnt need too. That doesnt mean he cant. GL's are top of the food chain when it comes to heavy hitters in the DC universe.
