For the last 2 years i've been listening to straight rap, with a few exceptions ie; rage against the machine, gnarls barkley and radiohead. Could you reccomend me some good music from other genre's of music maybe some indie rock, pop, metal etc... Please no emo or blink 182 bullshit... thanks

It's difficult to say because we don't know your musical taste, except for the rap stuff of course.

If you like good acoustic (more or less country) music, go for Neil Young's Harvest Moon.

If you like the deep voice and great lyrics of a ladies man, go for Leonard Cohen.

If you like short, aggressive but brilliant guitar noise, go for Surfer Rosa from the Pixies.

If you like original and not too commercial music, go for Sigur Ros.

If you like seventies music and amazing voice, go for Tim Buckley (yes, the father).

If you like soul, go for the best : Marvin Gaye.

If you like humor, go for Monty Python (not Madness, my aunt is funnier).

If you like great songs with lyrics about druids and stuff, go for Julian Cope.

If you like a great live album, go for Flashpoint (Rolling Stones)

If you like folk music and fado, go for Dulce Pontes.

If you like pure pop music and a golden voice, go for Hooverphonic.

If you like true punk, go for Husker Du.

If you like synthesizer, go for Kitaro, Vangelis or Jarre.

If you like cool jazz, go for Chet Baker.

If you like soundtracks, go for Morricone or Williams.

If you like quality, go for the Beatles' studio albums.

Only my opinion of course.

Bottom line is : there's so much choice.

Dream Theater aren't like King Crimson, that's the problem with calling them prog.

Well... that's def. logical.I'm sure many people agree that that's the way to go stick out tongue

Anybody like The Red Hot Chilly Peppers?

Alpha Centauri
I like them, but I Stadium Arcadium turned me off them a lot. I didn't think it was bad, it's just too much of one thing.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik is their best album, but my singular fav song is on Californication.

-AC

lorddreamer
I actually haven't listened to them much. What I've heard (their singles) have been pretty nice, but Im not gonna go buy the albums based on just that, you dig? Do the sounds on the singles reflect the actual albums?
