Lord Coal
The subject title says it all...... Of the original nine, who's the best in your opinions?

nick1811
Method man

SpaceMonkey
There's so much they each bring. I think overall, GZA barely eeks out the victory over Meth. That's probably why Shadowboxin' is one of my favorite tracks.

Broke Beat
GZA

Blue_Hefner
The Ghost...........face....killllllllllllllllllllllah

-hh-
GZA without a doubt

reggie_jax
without RZA wu tang would be wack. fact.

Inspectah Deck
GZA

P, that Dude
i used to think it was ghost

but now i realize nobody really stand out i mean no one really is a elite lyricist/mc (well maybe chef but flow is mediocre)... theyre just good mcs who mash well together

that's why you prolly wont see any wu-member in anybodies top 10

real talk

Blue_Hefner
By red, you dont mean Redman do you? And you don't need to put a comma between big and pun

To me, GZA's the best of all time, Wu or otherwise. True he's only made one classic solo album, but there's no one as lyrically consistent as he is, no one. And he gets better with age. Queen's Gambit is literally genius.

@hh

this verse bodies those songs that u just posted

"Yo I got, guns from Italy, smoke trees, considerably
Mid-state and Green it seems, is where all my niggaz be
The ghetto misery, shootouts and liquor stores
A perpendicular, angle of the clout war
Police searchin up my Lex over who's petrol
My tech blows straight off the roof and tests yo' respect though
But dough don't respect me, it got me handcuffed
The rough life, I just be up nights, breathin with scuffed Nike's
Pour my beers for my peoples under the stairs
These years I got they names in my swears
Poppin Cristal like it's my first child, lickin shots, holiday style
Rockin Steele sweaters, Wallaby down
Twenty-four carats, countin cabbage, like the arabs
The marriage of me and the mic is just like magic
Elegant performance, bubble Lex full insurance
Guzzlin Guinness shootin catchin cases concurrent
It's Nas, seven hundred wives, King Solomon size
We on the rise, me and G, ghetto wise guys
The luciano Frankie Aiel, Bugsy Seagal
Green papers with eagles from a tray that's illegal"

and thats on a g.rap album

sorry dawg

Without RZA the Wu wouldn't exist. RZA claims in 'the Wu-Tang manual' that none of the other eight knew everyone. Obviously GZA knew Dirty, Ghost knew Rae, etc. but RZA claims he was the only guy that knew all the other eight. So without RZA there would've been no Wu-Tang as we know it. Ghost and Rae would still be cooking up rocks, Meth would still be Staten's most severe bronchial case, GZA would still be standing standing round waiting for some brothers to come by so he could test their knowledge of the Nation, and Ol' Dirty would be.................... ol' Dirty.....

Tengu
ahhh the force is strong with this one yes

Deathblow
GZA paints pictures as vivid as television images with his words. No MC makes me visualize like he does. For that reason, I'm never gonna rate G Rap above GZA.

I'm deep down in the back streets - in the heart of Medina
About to set off something more deep than a misdemeanor
Under the subway, waiting for the train to make noise
So I can blast a nigga and his boys - for what?
He pushed up on the block and made the dope sales drop
Like the crashin of Dow Jones stock
I had to connect to cross seals, to catch more mil's
Than ho-bitches got birth control pills
I'm in the park, settin up a deal over blunt fire
Bum niggaz sleepin on the bench, they had em wired
Peeped my convo, the address of my condo
And how I changed a nigga name to John Doe
And while we set up camp, we got Vamp
Put the stake through his heart, I ripped his ****ing fangs apart
Snake got smoked on the set like Brandon Lee
Blown out the frame, like Pan Am flight 103
He got swung on, his lungs was torn, the
kingpin just castled with his rook and lost a pawn
A regular on the block, and played look-out
For playing predator with a glock, he should have took out.

---

She dated jolly green GIANTS, that, flew on JETS
An A-list actress, who was never walked off sets
She loved stuffed animals, especially BEARS
Was a role model, like a CARDINAL to our peers
A PATRIOTIC tomboy, like Mary Ellen from The Waltons
A former lifeguard, who had the skills of a DOLPHIN
When I met her, she was in drama school and wore BENGALS
Drove a BRONCO, and she was far from star spangled
Had basic skills, and worked part time in mills
Raised buffalo's, cause she was behind them BILLS
Had a man who always roared like LION
A domestic violent cat, tackled the girl and kept her crying
Couldn't care, she was losing her hair, from depression
She was in the air, and there was some room for interceptions
I told her to stay strong, not to be ashamed
You're a "ten-i-see", you just need to TITAN your game
Her ancestors were CHIEFS, who ran with running deer
On the sail with the SEAHAWKS, who battled the BUCCANEERS
The REDSKIN garments, was suede coat liners
Held rare coins, frequently sought from gold miners
They were hard working warriors, we call over timers
Shot plenty arrows at COWBOYS and 49ERS
Her interesting background, but quite unusual
A great force grip, but out of bounds for a musical
She told me to call her, if I came to town
I started TEXAN her, soon as my plane had touchdown
Holding my luggage, in the hand that revealed the bad scars
She pulled up at arrivals, driving the JAGUAR
Her BROWN skin was soft, her legs beautifully shaven
Her house was fly, sitting on the roof, was a RAVEN
As we entered, I heard laughter
She walked into a large living room, I went after her
There was two of her, girlfriends, playing chess like they were VIKINGS
Militant as PANTHERS, they're resemblance was striking
Had on thongs, high heels, and belts that was garter
Energized like phones that just came off the CHARGER
I introduced myself to gain yardage
Cuz anything less then smooth, would of been straight up garbage
The shorter one met me, when I had a sky pager
Thought I rolled with robbers, STEELERS and panty RAIDERS
She took fruit from the orange bowl, it was in season
One of them said she loved the juice and kept squeezing
I knew that I was gonna get, wined and dined
It would of been a penalty, not to pass the scrimmage line
Now I laid back and relaxed, waiting for the kick-off
One removed the lip gloss, like she was bout to lick all
She caressed me, with fingertips soft as velvet
Dying for me to PACKER, as she stroked my helmet
And I was thinking these girls was SAINTS
But it was first and ten, and there was extra walls to paint
Before you know it, I had all three in a huddle
Buckin' like a COLT, before I released them puddles
They spread EAGLES like wide receivers
As I RAM them in the endzone, and they became true believers.

Two verses written ten years apart from one another. He's incredible.

Lord Coal
Those are pretty tight, fo' sure. I like the way the second one manages to mention so many NFL teams without having anything to do with the NFL.

Personally I think Method Flows best, but GZA is by far the best lyrically. He used a similar technique to the one above for his verse on Protect Ya Neck (The Jump Off) (I think). It was amazing.

I rate Ghost and Deck as true legends also, But U-God and Masta were never given as much time or chance on the mic as the other 7, which was a shame as I felt they had a lot more to say than they got a chance to.

Lord Coal
^The verse I was on about was the one that goes like:^

"I run on the track like Jesse Owens
Broke the record flowin' without any knowin'
That my wordplay run the four-hundred metre relay
It's on once I grab the baton from the DJ
An athlete with his iron cleat in the ground
Wildest nigga who sprint off the gun sound
The best time yet still seven-point-oh
My swift flow make the cameraman's clothes blow"

Such a typically great GZA verse. He does metaphors like no one else.

Deathblow
Yeah that's the last verse from The Jump Off isn't it? Love it when he flips the extended metaphors. He kills rest of the Clan on that track, with the exception of Deck and Meth. Let them off with a moderate flesh wounds.

reggie_jax
f*ck GZA.. hes a c*nt.. thinkz hes smart.. announces to the audience that he watches discovery channel as if this deserves a ****ing medal.. his laid back style comes off as boring half the time.. snoop did it better.

rza > wu tang

B dot Rob
what has GZA really done except liquid swords

Legend of Liquid Swords

Btw GZA is the obvious choice and really the only rapper from the Wu that's arguably top 20 eff a top 10.

Tengu
you meant top 100, right?
