What 2006 Horror movie has been your favorite? and why?
vintageSW77
Its a sign of the state of Horror Cinema but its got to be HOSTEL......i dont want it to be but thats the best new horror ive seen this year.
Seen shitloads of great old horror movies this year for the 1st time though.

Errmmm i havent got a favorite horror of 2006 ace IMO there wasnt one i liked Saw 3 but wouldnt consider it to be a horror
drewbiefan
I have not seen any 2006 movies, i have not eve heard of many, other than saw 3. But i did not really like the first saw.
Dusty
Don't think I saw any.
Wolfie
Probably Saw 3. I can't think of many others I liked. Slither was cool too.
Pandemoniac
Slither kicked hiny! Also props to Dead & Breakfast, but that might be a 2005 release originally.
Impediment
Slither was the shizzle. I also loved The Hills have Eyes.
Comicbook_kid
My favorite horror flick of 2006 was by far "2001 Maniacs". Great movie with just the right about of "cheese", but still highly enjoyable. Nothing else, watch it for Robert Englund's excellent performance. Great overlooked flick. Here are also a few honorable mentions....
1. The Hills Have Eyes - Probably the best remake of recent years IMO.
2. Slither - Enjoyed this one a lot, but still like "Night of the Creeps" better though.
3. Hostel - Eli Roth just keeps getting better and better.
4. Saw III - Loved it...but I'm dreading a part 4.
5. Texas Chainsaw Massacre : The Beginning - Surprisingly better than what I'd expected...in a lot of ways even surpassing the 2003 remake.
and finally....
6. Feast - Great, fast-paced, in your face, blood & guts, horror flick...I was VERY pleasantly surprised with this one...RECOMMENDED!
Those are just a few of the horror flicks I've seen this year that I thought should be mentioned....and there are still a few that came out this year that I still have not gotten a chance to view yet....such as "The Descent", "Pulse", "Stay Alive", and "See No Evil"...but they're on my Netflix list, so I may be updating my list soon!!!
Wolfie
I forgot about THHE, that was a great one too. I also enjoyed 2001 Maniacs.
Leathergien

Severance : Cool UK comedy horror.
Snakes on a Plane : Loved this one.
And I liked The Wicker Man Remake even though it has nothing on the original.

Absolutely. A rare film that is both scary and great, like Jaws and the first Alien.
Evil Dead
Feast.
it's genius. the best tongue in cheek camp movie I've ever seen. All the comedy one could ask for without ever holding back with the gore....
my second is probably Slither. Also high-camp. Reminded me of a big budget Troma movie.
Deano
evil aliens was cool

Hills Have Eyes Remake=Best horror movie of 2006!!!
WrathfulDwarf
Three-way tie for me.
Hills Have Eyes
Hostel
Snakes on the Plane
drewbiefan
saw 3, is that better than the first? scarier?
steverules
First SAW movie wasn't scary IMO. I think SAW 3 is meant to have more gore though.
FistOfThe North
lol ! What?
Slither was super garbage. It sucked a$$, hard. That must've been the worst horror movie i've ever seen in some time. Comedy horrors suck and they're an insult. And Evil Dead 3 is the king of all garbage horror comedies.
But so far my fav horror movie of '06 has got to be ....damn..there weren't many good ones, were there. I guess Saw III, if you count that as horror. But to me it was more of a like a gory suspense thriller.

I think alot of people are really barring the movie Pulse for some reason. Most critics are calling it just another crappy remake of a japanese flick but I thought it was fairly good.
It was one of those movies that if you really read into it gave you a deep feeling that stuck in the back of your head for a few days. The Matrix as well as the ending of Terminator 2 did this for me.
The movie was solid although some may have had trouble getting past the hoakiness level of internet ghosts. Good Depth and the story kept moving.
If you like a movie where evil seemingly wins in the end then please give it a try.

I'll have to agree with you with "Pulse". I've actually seen it a couple of days ago and thought it a good flick. But Saw 3's better, to me at least, in terms of a horror suspense flick.. But a movie were the bad guys win is always refreshing twist every now and then. I wonder what'll happen in the "Pulse" universe now. I smell a sequel and i think it'll do good, too.
You'd need a complex explanation as to how the internet ghosts will be ultimately stopped with how it's virtually impossible to ever go into another city again. I mean even in the rural parts your at risk. Basically any where that can receive a signal. How will anyone communicate overall in order to stage an attempted offensive that seems futile.
lil bitchiness
I liked The Hills Have Eyes. And the rape scene in the movie disturbed me a lot. It was good.
I hated Saw III. They should have left it at I. Also, I don't like the idea of number IV either since eveyone died in the number III
Im yet to see few...
BackFire
The Descent was by far my favorite.
Also liked Slither, Hills Have Eyes, Hostel, Imprint, and Sounds like...

Cosigned. I was lucky enough to see this movie while I was waiting on getting some new glasses at the mall, and what a good surprise this movie turned out to be. Great characters, great story, great horror. Everything was great about this movie.
Also Silent Hill was awesome too.
Dinalfos
Slither was by far the best of the bunch.
Espantada23
I just saw the Descent...It's now my fav
Heaven's Sword
I thought the Grudge 2 was quite good, but many people dislike it. I thought it was better than the original.
Wolfie
The Descent came out in the UK in 2005, didn't it? I would've said that was my favorite if we consider it 2006.
Ya Krunk'd Floo
The Descent was the best horror movie I saw this year. It was well-made, suspenseful, creepy and shocking.
I have no idea why people actually like movies like Saw and Hostel, though. They're not suspenseful or frightening, just simply repugnant in the way their sole purpose seems to be to show people having nasty things done to them. They seem like movies made for - and by - kids who like to pull the legs of insects just to see what they do. Those movies make me feel depressed for humanity.

Well I thought Stay alive was pretty good, and I am going to watch Pulse (remake) soon even though the ending has kinda been ruined for me now I know evil wins...oh well. Anyways, I have bought the hills have eyes remake. Atm I am gonna go with Stay alive. But I will change if I like pulse/Hill have eyes better.

Ok kool thanx. Well I have seen Pulse and thought it was actaully really good and I enjoyed it alot. Today my copy of the hills have eyes remake came (DVD of course) so I will see if that is better than pulse which I think it may be due to the many good reviews it got.

Hills have eyes remake was great

Slither was a great film. If only for the homage it paid to my favorite past horror flicks. Lots of tips of the hat to past movies, if you look for them. It utilized a long forgotten method of gross-out horror. Not from excessive blood and guts, but from stomach renching, disgusting creatures/effects. The stuff that makes you want to take a shower after the movie. Loved it. And the blend of CG and props in the special effects was brilliantly done. Gave it a nice look.
steverules
Hmm may watch it, dunno
