Leathergien
what remake is your favorite?

Wolfie
Of all time? You've only named movies that came out in the past few years.

What about The Thing?

Espantada23
How can you say of all time and then have a poll with only 4 movies?

deathbycorn

Yep, good job but you missed a few....here's some more that you overlooked......

1. Invasion of the Body Snatchers
2. Red Dragon (was a remake of "Manhunter"wink
3. Bram Stoker's Dracula
4. King Kong
5. War of the Worlds
6. The Toolbox Murders
7. 2001 Maniacs (was a remake of 2000 Maniacs)
8. Salem's Lot
9. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
10. The Dead Zone
11. Firestarter

A "Halloween" remake is on the way and I also hear that remakes of Friday the 13th, Evil Dead, Stephen King's IT, Pet Semetary, and The Changeling are also in the works........UGH!!! sad

As far as the greatest remakes of ALL TIME, hands down it's

1. The Thing
2. The Fly
3. The Blob

StarsNeverFall7
Halloween reboot of the series, with Rob Zombie behind the films, im sure he will screw this up too.

I personally enjoyed The Hills Have Eyes, felt is was a fairly solid remake.

I wouldn't call those remakes since they were following the concept of the books rather than the concept of the classic films.

4. King Kong
5. War of the Worlds
Sci-fi.

10. The Dead Zone
Wasn't that a TV show?

The Shining was a mini-series too I think...

Wolfie
I never bothered to check either out so I wouldn't know.

Calling a TV show or mini-series a remake of a movie just sounds wrong to me. It seems like there should be a new word for movies remade from TV shows (Dukes of Hazzard, Mission: Impossible) and TV shows remade from movies (The Shining?).

Yes, but I think the 2 hr. pilot episode of the series was a remake of the original movie if I'm not mistaken. Also, the new "Shining" was a remake of the Stanley Kubrick version. It was a mini-series on TV...but it was still a remake. Stephen King wanted it done because it was a much more closer adaptation to the book than Kubrick's version was...

My personal favorite is John Carpenter's The Thing.

A very, very close second is Cronenberg's The Fly.

If you meant modern remakes, I enjoyed Dawn of the Dead and The Hills have Eyes.

Ah, yes. How could I forget those little torrents? smile

deathbycorn
hehehe big grin

Was Black Christmas like the original, or did they take in a different kind of style/direction? I liked the original. What about shock value and gore?

deathbycorn
It was not my kind of movie, they went Supernatural. Not much gore either. And not scary at all.

Here's the trailer : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGfxPV6CWEk
