This author's name is sleepy lotus and if you want to feel absolutely overcome by Jack/Liz-ness, read her short stories. I don't know her any way but through her postings, so I thought most people here would enjoy them. Get ready to orgasm, people!

Oh yeah I think I read some of her stories. But you need the time to sit down, have some capuccino, and settle down to read these stories. Because they are just amazing.

I also like that most of them are fairly short, only two or three chapters. She doesn't need really drawn out sentences to get her point across. That's the mark of a really gifted writer. We should invite her to join the board.

She doesn't break it into peices. She just gets to the point and it doesnt leave you incomplete.

I should learn from her, I have a story written but its not as talented as her.

Yes its fanfiction. Im a member there. Its written but its not complete, it is not even posted. My problem is if I should make it a T rating or a M rating. It's not a porn with Jack/Liz its just some angst, and love scenes.

I make the ones we write on here T to let people know there's adult content, but not porn. You'll lose a lot of your audience, I think, if it's rated M.

I thought you have to rate it M if its angst. Its not porn I promise you. I love Jack and Liz together but I don't like those stories that stays out of character by adding something that will soil the Jack and Liz romance. I have love scenes.

I could have sworn I've seen stories with angst rated teen or lower. If you want to play it safe, could you make it "tragedy" instead of "angst?" Angst rated M implies someone's loins are aching instead of their heart.

I love her references to smells, especially. Has anyone noticed that? With every new setting, she makes sure to use all the senses, how things taste, the sounds, the smells. It's especially intoxicating when she uses all of them to describe Jack and Liz's reactions to each other.

Alot of specific details on that.

I Must say i am a big fan of Sleepy Lotus......i've read most of her stuff and i am addicted to her Jack/Liz stories......sometimes when i Talk about Jack and Lizzie so passionatly it's because her stories are running through my head....and then i remember that that stuff didnt happen in the movies.....lol....and then i get sad because we may not ever get it!!!

Yeah I'm a big fan too! I'm a member of fanfiction butr I haven't posted my story yet...but I'm a big fan of hers. Good thing you posted this here cause she gives an exact discrebtion of the scene and the feelings without giving "too much" she keeps it simple and classic but very discreptive. She's great..maybe someone should PM her and invite her on here...maybe I will later this week when I get a chance.

I don't know the title, but the one where Jack chains her to the mast is a pretty good one. That and the two-chapter one with them on the island. Is that the one where she's slutty?

oh wow, that must be the only one I haven't read yet besides her Daria ones.

Her writing I would qualify as 'OK'. I've read better J/E fics than this, and those people don't manage to slaughter the characterizations as much. And I'm not fond of the over-abundance of italics.


I'm actually more fond of Dala1 , although I think most of hers ventures into the naughty territory of slash fic, and of course, honorat has some of the best written Jack I have ever read.

What does honorat write about? Just out of curiosity, surreal, do you ever read any N/E fanfiction? I know you said earlier that was your favorite pairing. Unfortunately for me since I'm a J/E shipper, N/E balance each other out well. Jack Davenport's an attractive man with a sexy voice. I can see that pairing now. But it doesn't change my mind!

Good Norrington/Elizabeth fanfiction is difficult to come by, but I have a few suggestions for that as well. Some of my favorites are angsty, romances-that-never-were fics with them.


On LiveJournal, jd_lit has some fabulous Norrington/Elizabeth fics, as well as other fandoms. I believe there is a journal entry there that will also take you to other decent Norrington and Norrington/Elizabeth stories.


Honorat has written mostly pre-DMC works. She's written a fantastic story of the three ships (in this case, the Dauntless, Interceptor and Black Pearl) speaking to each other. It's touching and sad, not to mention extremely well-written.


She's in the process of a mammoth story called "Crossing the Bar", and it has everyone's favorite characters, plus an additional face or two. It is also pre-DMC, but it's absolutely wonderful. If you can spare an hour or two a day to read through it, I highly, highly recommend it.


Anything that woman writes is fantastic, from her basic novelization of Curse of the Black Pearl to her drabbles, and she is a talented artsist as well.


Most of her stories seem Jack-centric, but I don't think she actually has a 'ship' per se.


I wish I had a really good recommendation for Jack and Elizabeth fic, but I can't think of the author names, and I have been searching for them for ages. Maybe someday....


As for slash...yeah, I like it. I'm fond of Will/Norrington, Norrington/Groves (so few of that), and Beckett/Norrington. Sparrington is good, but a lot of people don't know how to quite get Jack right, so I'm very picky about slash there.


And my all-time favorite threesome is Will/Elizabeth/Norrington, but there have been some great Will/Jack/Norrington.


And everyone should ship Norribeth, because then we could all be disappointed and surprised together at the end of AWE.

lol, can't say I agree with you on the slash. Maybe you can't recommend good J/E fiction because it doesn't appeal to you.

That's not entirely true. In fanfiction, J/E doesn't bother me so much, because a lot of authors sort-of manage to get J/E together in a logical fashion (usually the easiest is to kill Will off, but that's all right ).


My main issue is how Jack is written. I think he can be scarily focused on a person, but I don't see him as...being really soft and....sweet. Nor do I see him as being always foppish...


And a lot of writers make Jack so sweet and so kind of blegh that I'm like, "What is this? Who is this story about?"


So I'm just...picky about how Jack is written. Go read something by honorat, and see what I mean. She's sort of ruined Jack for me in any other fics.

Yeah, I've read some crappy fanfiction. Jack's a complex character, and honestly, a lot of writers do the same thing to Jack that they do to every other hero in every series. They take away his personality to make him an Everyman in a romantic situation. It almost doesn't matter who the couple is so long as certain phrases and actions are put in. They do it to the woman too, no personality.

I'm still trying to find this one J/E fic that I liked, but the author changed names. I think. Or I just can't remember it, which is not shocking.

yeah there was one author i just loved but i cant find them. very J/E, lots of ballroom dancing, making love, being drunk, trying to sort things out with Will, etc.

Well, when I write my Mary Sue, I'll be sure to hook her up with Will, and Jack and Elizabeth can be together. Of course, the writing will be sub-par and the plot will probably not make much sense, but it's all good.


Sparkle MacGhee is Will's new love interest, by the way. Don't you just LOVE her name?

It's not as fun as Ariel Belle Kastapilos-Smith-Nevia, but oh well. Ariel is my Mary Sue from the King Arthur fandom, which I have smashed together with the Lord of the Rings fandom. It's a real piece of work. I don't suggest that you read it unless you can handle scorching parodies.

who's mary sue?

A Mary-Sue is fanfic slang for a girl that's not in the original book/movie. She's a new character the author invented to mainly act as a love interest for a character who is in the book/movie.

I don't think I've read any of her stuff. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the tipoff..

A Mary Sue is not just a new love interest for a canon charactor. Oh no, she's far worse. Sometimes a new female character is well-written and is simply considered an Original Character.


A Mary Sue, on the other hand, is beautiful on a near super-natural level.


This usually mean she has an unusual hair and/or eye color, an unusual name, and a horrible, abusive past. She is almost always related to at least one other main character, although sometimes this relation is introduced very late into the story. There is usually a secret mission that she's on, or, even better, she has a hidden destiny that she must fulfill.


On top of all that, the Mary Sue is almost always well-liked by all the main characters immediately, and she usually likes them in turn (even if the Mary Sue has said that she is a loner and can't easily trust others). She is always good and kind and sweet, except if you hurt those she loves...


Also, the Mary Sue is usually raised as a lady, but has yearnings to be something other than what she is, and she is always gifted with a superhuman ability to learn any weapon she chooses, and she is either equal to in skill or better than the main characters at whatever it is she does.


There is often an aura of magic around her as well. It's amazing.

**Fun Trivia Fact: Ixiannithialsisa was created simply by pressing random keys on the keyboard, and then I added the "x" to make it more exotic sounding.
