If they come in they'd want to know. And it is going to get out either way to everyone on the news and just talk. Titles aren't something you can really spoil.

I don't usually trust "title revealed" kinda news until the book is out, after some of the past ones. lol.

actually she has. she's released hoax names before, I honestly can't tell you what it was off the top of my head, but tons of ppl were claiming that it was a new title, and she ripped on them on her own website in the news area. It was hilarious.
Until I have a copy of the new book in my hands, I don't trust news on the new book. Besides, it just leaves me hanging on what's going on, that's why I quit going on harry potter news sites. Why read speculation when you can wait and read the real thing?
but then again, that's just my opinion, and i've been rather cynical as of late.

? Well, who else has died on Halloween? Deathly Hallow. Dealthy is describing Hallow. But what is a hallow? In interpretations I would say Halloween but also a ghost. Mixing the two together, Nearly Headless Nick. I mean, come on, they have to have him in there for a reason.

I have two explanations for a hallow, but I'd rather put them in spoilers. So... how do I do them again?

Ah okay. Ideas away then.
Hallow
–verb (used with object) 1. to make holy; sanctify; consecrate.
2. to honor as holy; consider sacred; venerate: to hallow a battlefield.
But she's using it as a noun here, so it must mean a place that's sacred? So the deathly places that are sacred? Herm... What wizard places are sacred? That last "battlefield" part intrigues me a lot, maybe something to do with Dumbledore and Grindlewald? Or maybe it's just the final battle grounds that are "hallowed?" Oh so juicy!
And this one came up with a bit more research...
Hallows = Treasures or Vessels sought by Grail seekers, (Hallowed Objects)
The four hallows of the Tuatha de Danaan were developed in later traditions to be the four symbols of magical elements, to also be seen on Tarot packs as the four suits:
1. The Sword;
2. The Spear;
3. The Cup;
4. The Pentacle.
So I think Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is reaffirming Harry searching for the last 4 Horcruxes, each task being a deathly one that he must overcome. Perhaps they're four things of the founders? But Dumbledore said it was very unlikely Gryffindor's sword (1. The Sword) would be a Horcrux. But then, Dumbledore said himself he made mistakes like everyone else, the mistakes he made were just larger... The locket's already gone, that was Slytherin's, could that have been the Pentacle? And then the Spear... well now I'm just speculating. But I do like this second theory WAY MUCH.

I have to be honest and say that I was a wee bit disapointed in the title. I think I've heard some better rumored titles that I liked more, like "Forest of Shadows" and things like that. But yeah, it's growing on me.
But someone googled this title and they said that that Hallows was the beginning of the witches year where the veil between the worlds grows thin and the dead may return to earth. What do you think of this? Could the veil play a major role in this book? Is it possible that a lot of dead characters are going to be able to come back to earth? That would give more efficense of the "Deathly" Hallows.
Xandico
Thats what I was thinking but it could just mean that a dead person (Nick?) is going to be greatly involved...
Denniz234
i think this name means Hermione is gonna die, he's going to see his parents or sirius or someone like that again and he's going to die in the final battle which will be held in some graveyard theres my prediction wahoo that took me like 2 minutes

Jo Rowling said on Halloween that she was debating between three possible titles for the seventh and final Harry Potter book, and although she announced on her website on Thursday that she's decided upon Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, we may now know the other two potential titles. Field Fisher Waterhouse, the same company that registered the title "Deathly Hallows" on December 5, also registered two others - "Heart of Ravenclaw" and "Deadly Veil" - on the same day. Of course, do bear in mind the plausibility of Jo actually registering the two other, possibly more revealing titles, which is rather low.
It's also worth noting that Field Fisher Waterhouse registered the titles Harry Potter and the Hogwarts Hallows and Harry Potter and the Hallows of Hogwarts on July 24, 2003.
Update: TLC has received word from a spokesman of Jo's, who said that neither "Heart of Ravenclaw" nor "Deadly Veil" were ever contenders for the book 7 title.

So, does this mean the Deadly Hallows are in Hogwarts?

I did a little more research on my theory. The "Spears" suit of Tarot is sometimes called the "Wands" suit. Perhaps Ravenclaw's Horcrux could be Ravenclaw's wand?
And then I got to feeling really creative... what if Lily was in Ravenclaw? I mean, it never actually says what House she's in in the books, her wand was really good for charms work, remember? And Prof Sprout, the Head of Ravenclaw, is the Charms teacher.
So that would involve Lily in a big way, and would solve Ravenclaw's Horcrux.
And I'm getting really proud of my thinking skills...

Yeah, Sprout is in Hufflepuff, but I still like your theory. That would very much involve Lily......plus, you're right, James was in Gryffindor but JK hasn't actually said what house Lily was from. At least, I don't recall it very saying that.

"Harry Potter und die todbringenden Heiligen" (German)
"Harry Potter et les saints mortuaires/mortels" (French, "Deathly/Mortal Saints"

"Harry Potter e os Santos Mortuários" (Portuguese, "Deathly Saints"

"Harry Potter ve Olumcul Takdis" (Turkish, "Deadly Blessing"

"Hari Poter i Smrtonosni Blagoslovi" (Serbian)
"Harry Potter si Ingerii Mortii" (Romanian, "Angels of Death"

"Harry Potter i sveci smrtnici" (Croatian, "Mortal Saints"

"Harry Potter ve Ruchot Hamavet" (Hebrew, "Spirits of Death"
Please be reminded that these are only tentative titles..."

Planning will commence with online retailers next month, and pre-orders are expected to be just as high as the 500,000 for Book 6. "This kind of operation takes a lot of planning," said a Royal Mail spokesman.

I always thought that Harry's eyes being exactly like his mother was a bit of a deeper thing, like he had some qualities of her in him. But the patronus/animagus idea is interesting, it makes sense that Harry would want to pursue that path, but it took even the Marauders till their fifth year (?) well, at least a long time, for them to learn how to be Animagi. I dunno if, even with Hermione's wonderful help, if they could manage to do it in less, as in a year.
