Darth Daft
As yet we have no idea which planet Yoda comes from and no sources can even hint what species he is. Personally, I doubt GL will even reveal these 2 things, as it is probably something he wants to keep secret.

So let's be creative and think of what sort of planet Yoda might originally have come from.
Judging by his claw-like feet it is possible that his species "perch" on branches like birds do, maybe trees hanging over swamps and water. His feet are very large in proportion to his body so that may mean that his species have to walk through thick mud most of the time so therefore there feet have to be big to stop themselves from sinking.
What do you guys think?

Xizor
I like it not knowing what Yoda is or what planet he is from.

theEviljedi
Maybe Yoda's species evolved from bats. He has claws and the simple bat ears you know.

Xizor
Or MAYBE he's just a really, really, really old Jawa whose not wearing a shawl.big grin

Darth Daft
Heh heh, good one Xizor. That would actually be a nice surprise if it were revealed. I'm sure a lot of fans would be shocked if some Jawas took off their robes and they all looked like the same species as Yoda.
Has anyone noticed the small similarites of Yoda and the other short Jedi Council Member, Even Piell? They are both very small and have similar shaped ears. I was wondering if perhaps Yoda isn't any particular species at all. He may be kind of half-cast, a mixture of one or more species, one of which may be the same as Even Piell's.

Xizor
Interesting, "Galaxies Greatest Master revealed as mongrel half breed!!"

Darth Heinous
I wonder if Yoda and Yaddle like each other?

Ratcat
Yeah! Yoda and Yaddle gwet it together in a little green lovefest!!!

theEviljedi
Nah,Yoda's too old for her taste.

Darth Daft
Ya never know. Look at Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones

theEviljedi
Yeah but Yoda doesn't have that much money.stick out tongue j/k smile

Dim
Could be a power thing...you know those May/December relationships..

queeq
I think it's the white whiskers that does it for Yaddle. And you know what they say about men: they get better with age. Yoda must be the best!!!

queeq out

theEviljedi
I thought that was wine.

queeq
Well, I do believe it is a general consensus, that men become more charming as they age. Take Sean Connery for instance, the man is considered to be one of the sexiest men alive. An he definately is an old man now.

Tom Gon
Coruscant

queeq
Coruscant?

queeq out

Darth Daft
He has a point ya know. Yoda's home planet could indeed just be Coruscant. But I'd like to think he was actually born on the planet of his species and was discovered by Jedi at a young age and then taken to Coruscant. I don't like the idea of him being born on Coruscant. IMHO OC

queeq
OK, so he built all the buildings? laughing out loud

Gundark
Yeah...he just lifted his hand and everything flew together. It aged him 900 years in one day. Hehehe. laughing out loud

queeq
That's it! You solved the mystery! laughing out loud

UnknownBountyHunter
Am I only one here who is missing something? What happened to Dagobah? That's his homeplanet, isn't it?

theEviljedi
How do you figure?

UnknownBountyHunter
He lives there...roll eyes (sarcastic)

theEviljedi
But he also lived on Courusant.

UnknownBountyHunter
But where did he die? Where was his hut with all his belongings?

theEviljedi
But that doesn't mean he was born there.

UnknownBountyHunter
He went there to hide and to die. Would you fly to China if you were going to die?

theEviljedi
He went there because it was isolated, safe, and full of non-inteligent creatures that wouldn't reveal him.

Darth Daft
Yes and even if he was born there, I would still like to wonder what planet his actual species comes from. It can't be Dagobah because that is uninhabited. Unless his species died out of course.

Ratcat
I don't think he was born there, I think there is a history to Dagobah that make sit the idealplace to hide for Yoda.

UnknownBountyHunter
No, look at this hut. Its built inside a tree that has to be over a thousand years old. He couldn't have just wallowed it out, I think maybe his family flew there after their planet got destroyed, and was born there, that's why its so significant. And of course he couldn't reproduce, so he was alone.

Darth Daft
Good point. Have you noticed the hut is kind of like a home on Tatooine? Perhaps Dagobah used to have a primitive lifestyle on it similar to Tatooine's. Personally I doubt it, but still, ya never know.

UnknownBountyHunter
Oh yeah? I personally know its Dagobah! evil face HAHAHA!

Gundark
UBH has another point here..and don't forget Yoda is 900 years old. His species could have easily died out in that period of time.

theEviljedi
Then why didn't he and Yaddle reproduce?

Gundark
There are several extremely funny responses I could make to that post, EJ. I just can't decide which one to pick. Maybe we should go with a "top ten reasons" list on that one. laughing out loud laughing out loud

Jedimaster3838
There's like 400 years between them, thats got to be illegal and very very gross. Yoda's old enough to be her ancestor smile

Gundark
laughing out loud laughing out loud Very very gross. Well put, JM smile

theEviljedi
Ever hear of Viagra?laughing out loud

Zareil
Perhaps as a witicism it could be suggested that he comes from the same planet as Gonzo, and are decended or evolved from the same creature. Sorry just a joke, the question I'd like to ask is how does it matter. There are probably a number of similar planets to his home world just as Kasshyk is similar to Endor which just had shorter inhabitants but similar dwellings. Perhaps Degobah is similar to his original home. Actually I'd imagine likely if he was happy to make a home for himself to go into hiding.

mechmoggy
Can't remember which book but I remember reading that Yoda had hunted down and killed a powerful sith on Dagobah and thats what the tree is where Luke saw, and be-headed, the vision of Vader. The place being strong in the dark side made it an ideal place for yoda to hide as he couldn't be detected. I assume the place being dark and Yoda's inner light (can't think what else to call his "good force"wink simply cancelled each other out. Make sense?

Well that's how I understood his reason for living in such desirable surroundings.

Ushgarak
I've heard that theory from Zareil in the past... so I ask him now to NAME THAT BOOK!

Darth V
It's in the Thrawn trilogy, we heare about Yoda hunting and killing a dark Jedi (not a sith as I remember it) on Degobah. And about him hiding there, because of the dark side being strong there.

Zareil
As I recall it was in the Last command simply as it related to Mara JAde and his uncertainty as to whether as she worked for a syth she would be one also
