He's used it effectively on Surfer, something I don't see Mags doing.

It doesn't matter how much greater ego is then magneto pplz read the freaking topic! MAg can just kill himself in the most spectacular way and even then ego may pause of a couple seconds or just not talk at all and MAgneto wins!

As far as I remember, he only blasted and trapped Silver Surfer in a magnetic shield that separated him from his board (thus Silver Surfer falling and being knocked unconscious by slamming into a force-field, lulz). I wouldn't say that's overly impressive, imo.
