Yeah, well, meanwhile, she picked the right nebula. bag

Personally, I always liked this particular piece of cosmic real estate...
http://www.solstation.com/x-objects/greatatt.htm

The Great Attractor is apparently pulling in millions of galaxies in a region of the universe that includes the Milky Way, the surrounding Local Group of 15 to 16 nearby galaxies and larger Virgo Supercluster, and the nearby Hydra-Centaurus Supercluster, at velocities of around 600 (in the Local Group) to thousands of kilometers (or miles) per second (Lynden-Bell et al, 1988; and Dressler et al, 1987). Based on the observed galactic velocities, the unseen mass inhabiting the voids between the galaxies and clusters of galaxies is estimated to total around 10 times more than the visible matter in this region of the universe... .

Shakyamunison
Dark matter, does matter.

debbiejo
If it were possible to astral project into the "eye of god" Would we feel more enlightened? blink

OK, talk to you all tomorrow..... shifty

As the day turns into night
As wrong becomes right
As the seasons come and go
As the children grow

Nothing stays the same
And there's no one we can blame

Boundaries fade away
Black and white turns into grey........UNITY

Space amazes me. You should download "Celestia". It's free and is a realtime representation of our solar system and what it's doing right now. Kinda like Google Earth but for space.

and its sooo sad too, I used to be a real big astronomy buff, but had somethings going on, and i didn't even take notice of the " comet veiwing" email i got from astronomy newsletter.

But I'm close( kinda) to the equator, so I'll see this afternoon if there is still some chance of me catching it.

debbiejo
What comet was it? I saw Haleys comet....I saw it for a long time too.......Now that was cool.

fini
ummm, Mc Naught Comet, it was the brightest comet ever seen in the last 30 years, It was so bright that it could be seen during the day.
It can only be seen in the southern hemisphere now.
