Hi everyone! This is something I've been wanting for a while, because we have an ever-growing respect directory that is one of the best on the internet (and possibly the best).

I'll be transferring all of our current respect threads to this forum in upcoming days.

Please keep spam to a minimum and such. I'll have a "Rules" thread up soon, and other stuff.

For now, use this as our "Off-Topic Respect Discussion" thread.

Great forum, a bit annoying, I'll end up clicking here while trying to get to the versus forum. But good that it's here! Much easier to find 'speck threads.

This will clean things up a bit.

Besides cleaning things up, it also makes us seem more "official". SHC has a respect forum, but it's probably about half our size. The level of committment that many people have put into making quality respect threads means that we should have our own place.

I saw that you've divided up alpha flight, is that going to be a common thing with other teams? As i recall, though, most of the other teams have been individually done anyway, so i'd say the larger bulk of your work is done, right?

I wasnt a big supporter of the need for a respect forum, but its here now, so good luck and i hope it gets decent traffic...

I'd also like to note that if you have any ideas for things you'd like to see happen with this forum, let me know. I'm pretty much in charge (since the other comic Mods have been largely MIA) and I appreciate outside input.

I've also been thinking of having a series of threads to "rank" the best respect threads. But it would have to be more than a simple poll, because those are largely ineffective and come down to popularity of the characters more than actual quality of the threads.

Just a suggestion, might as well put it here...

to aid making the whole thing more, official, i guess, a spell check on the titles themselves wouldnt go amiss (i know, not the most important thing obviously), i just think it might just look better to the first time viewer... *shrugs*

Er, threads get bumped up and down based on when someone ahs posted in them, like any other forum. I can't really alphabetize the forum....just teh directories.

If people want to see the threads by alphabetical order they can just click the word "Thread" in the second blue bar... at least for the threads that have been named "........ Respect Thread"

...the directories (which are also getting transferred) are alphabetical. It shouldn't really be a problem.

Marvel's getting broken into A-M and N-Z directories. And yes, Indy and DC will be seperated. Everything will obviously be in this forum, but there will be seperate directories (even though there's only maybe 5 indie threads right now).

There might be a few you missed, but your assessmnent is pretty accurate. And there's also threads like Adam Warlock, which covers his entire career chronologically, but wasn't made by a KMC member.

So yeah, not all the "great" threads are by KMC'ers. But a lot are. And between the two, we have an excellent database. I'm proud as hell of it.

Batman, Superman, and Superman Blue respect threads are all in the character-forums (where I don't have Mod powers). So I'll be talking to probably WD to get those moved over. Otherwise, everything is transferred, and the directories are set up.

Yeah, we have a lot of great threads, and like said, our database is BIG.

I would have mentioned Spider-Man R. thread, but it doesn't really cover a lot of his career.

Of course, my humongous Spider-Man thread will knock it off so I would be a bit useless.

Seriously though. Did you know that on average, Spider-Man has about 144 appearences per month?

I have about 6500 comics in total to put scans from. It's insane.

Lots of sweet stuff I haven't seen before, though. Like proof that Spider-Man's actions actually work faster then he thinks, so telepaths can't predict his attacks. And some totally awesome speed/strength feats and fights.

But this will take this year to complete, easily.

Yeah, I think so, as long as it is in comic form (or manga as in Hellsing).

Wow. As much as I don't want to see my thread get bumped into obscurity, I'm looking forward to it.....because I can't really compete with that many comics.

I have maybe 600 Spidey comics that I was pulling from when I made mine...so obviously yours will be a lot bigger.

...hehe. It's at least partially earned, though. Raz did the actual creation, but this entire forum is here because of me, starting with my original directory. I thought of it, pitched it to the mods, and garnered enough support to have it made.

If you keep going back to the "causes of the causes" though, I think the Hulk respect thread was the first on KMC. So you could say that started the craze.

I'll consider it.

My thinking is that most people who have enough material on a character to make a good respect thread, do make one. A request thread would get inundated with requests, and probably about 99% would simply be ignored, or the attempts would be underwhelming.

I might try it on a trial basis. But we'll see.

Also, if you're mkaing one, try to do it right. Most are fine, but plenty of people are just like "um. Respect Porn-Dog! He's cool and stuff. So post scans." And even a few scans generally doesn't justify it. Make sure you have more than a fight or two, at least.

We probably have the biggest respect forum on the internet. Some of our threads are pulled from other sources (SHC and others) but most are KMC-specific. And I have yet to see one this big. SHC had us for a while, but we've been growing so steadily that it's hard to imagine there's a better "respect" database out there.

Bio sites obviously have more characters, but no specific feats.

...but of course, I could be biased.

I love this forum. Slow-paced, not really reports to speak of. And it's cool when I have time occasionally just to actually read through a respect thread and check out all the feats. I've learned quite a bit just in the last few weeks.

I allowed Ryu, and I wouldn't be opposed to stuff like this.

But.

A. It would have to be done well. Not just for the sake of making one.
B. It would have to be a character for whom there is a legitimate need to show respect. But something like....i dunno, Scooby-Doo for example, would get closed immediately. No real way to show "respect"...it would just be an excuse to show SD stuff.
C. Occasional ones like this are fine, but it can't become a huge trend. Check with me first before making it.

Only if you use the manga exclusively, as the anime and fillers are not canon.

Anime, like in the vs. forum, won't really be allowed. If you want a Goku thread, it'll have to be in the anime forum....where it will be much better received

Anyway, it's quite obvious that DBZ would be....more volatile...in this forum than lesser-known manga. That said, Hellsing isn't hurting anything and can easily get "grand-fathered" in, but the no anime rule will have to be enforced, or else we'll have a flood of not just DBZ but others as well.

And I'd really rather keep this a peaceful, sane forum. Anyone who's ever read a Superman/Goku fight knows what I'm talking about.

digimark, goku is different. in fans eyes, he is the rival to superman himself. i would just post his feats and it would work like every other respect thread

Not necessarily, but to an extent. I close probably 50x the amount of DBZ threads as every other manga/anime combined. I hear about it more. I get PMd about it more. So it's it's not just me...it's the forum as a whole.

That, and like I said, the Hellsing thread really doesn't have the kind of interest that, say, Naruto/DBZ/etc. would generate. And those sort of things turn to bashing/spam/etc. in a hurry when mixed with mainstream comics.

So it's probably quite popular, even besides all of that. But the original point was just that DBZ doesn't belong here, and I stand by that.

Well how would you feel about, for an example, a Star Wars respect thread, using mainly scans from Star Wars comics?

You're splitting hairs and/or looking for loopholes. I deal with stuff as it comes up, and make the decision that I think is in the best interests of the forum, listening to forum members as much as possible (as well as asking for mod input when necessary) and making my choice.

Since we have an active SW forum, I'd probably feel the same way as with anime. It's fine, but not in this forum.

I really am dissapointed in alot of posters who interfere in the Respect threads,ive even seen posters say its not fair and yet there they are posting negative remarks or debating,just being annoying basicly NOT CONTRIBUTING in a positive way,any other way is Wrong ,the point is it should stop,no matter what disagreements or actions by anyone in another thread or in a respect thread(dont stoop to their level) show them who is a better person,trust me i wanted to mess up peoples threads for that reason,and it would be wrong to do that,We cant expect the Moderators to do everything,They have a alot of responsibilities(and i bet they dont get paid )we have to be respectfull at all times

Honestly though, there's lots that could be made (and Ultron does deserve one). But I like to think that if someone has the necessary means of making a good thread (for a character who deserves it) it gets made eventually.

So patience. Or google search for other websites.

I'm still put off that we don't have a Luke Cage respect thread... if someone doesn't start working on one, I MAY have to put in effort myself... glare

I'm currently working on a kick-ass Death's Head (and "relatives" thread, and also a complete revamp to the Authority thread (LOTS more material than the current one). But there's not really a huge demand for either of those....it's more just my personal interest.

I sometimes think of making respect threads ... but then I don't.

Are we allowed to post manga character respect threads in this forum? I noticed that there was a Hellsing thread listed in the independent directory, and there is no equivalent forum but wanted to check first.

I believe Digi allowed them when he had the forum oppened.

There was an argument a bit back though where he said they weren't allowed (although he made exceptions for the few already made). He also said no Star Wars respect threads or threads for anything that wasn't primarily a western comic medium.

I was going to make a "The Boys" thread (by Garth Ennis) but it's only gone 7 issues so far, there are still quite alot of feats actually; but it's been said there's going to be 60 issues, so I've got another few years and 53 more issues before I can do it properly.

Damn i've just spent all morning looking through this part of the forum this is one of the best character respect forums i've ever seen. Good Work to everyone who made it!!

Glad you like GGS. But don't sell it short. One of the best? It is the best....or at least I have yet to see another forum that rivals it (SHC was better for a while but I think we've surpassed the size of theirs).

Web comic? Meh, go ahead. I'll see what it's like and maybe create a precedent for web-comic stuff after that, since it may or may not be something that should be allowed. But Sarda would get grandfathered in, so you're good.

Technically you could, but is a 1-shot character really worth a thread. Or even of respect, if the company only saw fit to have them in 1 issue? Probably not, but I won't close it if you decide to make it.

Also, Marvel needs to be broken down yet again due to size limitations for post sizes. I'll be seperating the A-M into two categories.

I started reading a Respect Thread (I won't name whose), and I had to stop because I was flabergasted at the (deliberate?) misinterpretation / exaggeration of otherwise obvious on-panel feats.

Out of respect for the character and the thread, I didn't post any comments to correct the really, truly obvious "flaw." But should it just be left alone? What is the best way to deal with this?

Out of respect for the character and the thread, I didn't post any comments to correct the really, truly obvious "flaw." But should it just be left alone? What is the best way to deal with this?

If you feel strongly about it, correct it. But respectfully, even if the misinterpretation was deliberate.

Heck, I green-lighted the new Storm thread simply to remove that same kind of exaggerated misinformation....so there's nothing wrong with clarification.

Hey Digi I have been wondering if I could create a KOS-MOS respect thread. She originated in a video game, but we all know Lana will never admit a respect thread in either forum she mods. KOS-MOS is an interesting character from the Xenosaga trilogy of games. She most definitely deserves respect as some of her feats are off the charts and she could be used in the Comic vs Forum now that the rules have been changed a little. I have enough youtube links, bios and info to make everyone easily understand what she's capable of and how she operates.

I'll be looking forward to your decision on this matter.

To be honest it will be hard when my PC reboots all its main components and memory etc that i want every time I turn it on, there is no way to do it.

Ban you want ti just inspires me, if I was just allowed back I would have been fine but the more annoying the mods are the more fun it is wasting your time.

Pretty much the only mod you annoy is me, by spamming my forums and making my job more tedious. For the globals it's just the touch of a button. So thanks. I appreicate that "I don't count".

Meh I don't really do anything in your forums anymore, anyway I have been a good sock.

Its not supposed to be tasteful thats why I am a sock, when I got on the forum I had a PC for about 3 weeks or so. When I was banned it was a couple of months, If I was given the chance I could change but Raz or whoever really runs the forum, (he doesn't seem to make many decisions) wont give me another shot.

But to be honest I would hardly post, the new rules thing gets me annoyed but its the fact that I know I am allowed to post when I want would be good enough for me.
