And if I had my way, there'd be lots more bans for obvious socks (not saying your one MM, but it just raised the point).

As it is, we need "proof". And since our sock check is average, at best, and I'm too lazy to look into things unless they're causing a ton of trouble, lots of known socks stick around (except the morons like Judge).

...but it's amusing to see how everyone thinks they're "pulling one over" on the mods....same way the kids in my class think I don't see what's going on. If it gets too troublesome, I intervene. Otherwise, it's just my good graces allowing a lot of this, especially since I really don't have a problem with anyone, even socks, as long as they aren't causing trouble.

omg that satar wars forum invasion was priceless... that was the best!

Hehe, I can't really think of the best age, but probably somewhere around what Blair mentioned. Or maybe a little bit before. It was when all the greatest forum debaters were around.

Spider-Man VS Wolverine age was also great.

Honestly I have two versions of KMC I first remember off.

Let's see I found KMC Forums thanks to comics looking for a character I had never heard of before named Atom Smasher. I made one stupid thread and then went off to Venture into the other forums

I primarily hung around the Star Wars Episode 3 thread (The movie had just come out and I was interested in that forum alot) and the Star Wars RP section where I met a lot of people. In fact it may have been quite a few weeks before I re-entered comics section at all. I liked that period met a lot of cool people from the other forums that I still talk to today. It was because of these two things that KMC became a year long plus obsession and not just a brief walk through

Then of course I did finally make my return to the comics section right at the time the old Lords of Chaos were getting the off-topic thread going. A recent off-topic thread I was involved in got closed over in the Star wars section so I kind of just went into. The Evangel Herald Tourny was like halfway through or 3/4s done one of those two.

So yeah after getting into reading the tourny I made one joke in the off-topic thread to kind of break the Ice and Just ran with hit. Turning a loosely connected group of trouble makers into a Royal Family despite their reluctance. Eventually turning BW into a King

Well a lot about myself I know but case is that on a personal standpoint those were the best times for me on KMC because those were the days that forged this into a good tome for me and kept me coming back.

Honestly I saw everything past that in somewhat of a rapid decline statis. People I knew went away and I stopped visiting certain forums. I really thought at some point I was just gonna leave straight up. Only the RP section actually kept me here at that point in time.

anyways currently things have gotten a lot better I think although I think the the pre-team pre-repsect thread pre-scan days were still the best.

Tell me about it. I was able to debate like 20 pages of Storm VS Namor thread without knowing that Namor is actually stronger then 85 tons and could fly hundreds of times faster then 40 MPH.

Ahhh...those were the days.

Now? I am tha scanmaster. In my tourny debut I never used one scan at all while my opponent used a million and I still was able to keep a lot of people's minds clouded on who would win. Even though I did end up loosing.

Now it is almost a prerequisite to at least 50 scans for your characters otherwise no one will believe your guy can do anything

best times for me? when the x-men forum was busy as hell... sk, clovie, paola, jury, much fun was had in the countdown thread...

the days when nataku used to just lose it and write paragraphs and paragraphs of insults, t'was fun...

colossus v thing, one of the few debates i was a regular visitor to... that was where i learned how to actually debate and saw how things were done around here...

there was a time when it got really bad, and the vs forum was just inundated with obscene levels of fanboyism it had never seen before and hopefully won't see again... i almost left myself... but i came back, and it has become alot better now thankfully...

...I didn't use 1 scan in my semi-final run with General Kinky, for example. Nowadays, I'd get WTF-Pwned in the first round with that kind of crap.

IMO, it all whent sour after the summer of 2005. Too many wussy geeks, a far too many 1 page threads. I remeber the days when i used to Insult everyone when i debated, and no one batted and eye lid. They may stick up for themselves but they wouldn't go crying off to the mods. There where some truely interesting peeps back then ....

Im seriousl even longtime rival like GS & Whirly were good buddies amongst the arguing and such>oh they loved it. Like a'la Batman/Superman thing between eachother. But other forums ive checked even long time members ARE STRIGHT UP DICKS TO EACH OTHER! had to get it out there> this IS MY SECOND HOME>im just like that one guy who just keeps to himself is all.

The Golden age was the birth of the VS forums, when AC and Asian Hulk were the two greatest posters alive.

Silver age was the birth of posters such as Cosmic Cube, GS, CM, Whirly, and a few others.

The forums are pretty average right now. It's been worse and it's been better.

I'd say current age rocks, especially with the mongooses rising, the new tournaments, the scans, the rivalry between me&martian, bran&smurf, the banning of Xmeat (and hopefully devilgoblin if he ever comes back), the storm fanboys (LIGHTNING IN THE BRAIN! ) this is an age of wonders.

In terms of forum options and breadth of information, this is obviously the best time. We have the newly-added respect forum (which is probably the best on the net), regular tournaments, some very knowledgeable members, and information/discussion on an insane # of comic-related topics.

The downside is, with size comes morons. There's never been more needless threads, more annoying fanboys, more spam, more socks, etc. The actual debate in the vs. forum is a mockery of what it used to be, when actual discussion took place in every thread.

So there ya go. The good and the bad, as I see it.
