Charlotte of Samurai Showdown is the original rapier-wielding fencer, while Raphael is the new blood.
After the Soul Edge debacle, Raphael returns home with his ward Amy and turns over his double-crossing relatives to the law. He then opens up a fencing school which becomes famous over Europe.
At Versailles, Charlotte hears about him and via a royal messenger, challenges Raphael to a fencing match to test his skill. Raphael accepts and heads off to Versailles.
