yes its pg13. i feel like it coulda been r but hey for pg13 its still a dark film.
FUZE_LOVER
cool thanks my dad wanted to know,
LORDSIDIOUS01
Ghost Rider rocked. Can't wait for the sequel.
Menetnashté
It wasn't that good. The director said Blackheart would show his true comic form which he didn't which was a real let down. Ghost Rider himself was like a monster his talking was odd. Blackheart didn't fight like Blackheart. He didn't even seem like him. In the comics he corrupted people in this one he just touched them turning them to a stone like substance. Mephisto was pretty cool and so was caretaker. It had a decent plot line but lacked in the battle scenes he took everyone out without even trying.
AQUA-MARINER
yes i liked it veary much...veary good
AcousticDoc
Does Stan Lee have a cameo in this movie?
StarsNeverFall7
It was good, I enjoyed it. I do believe that the fight scenes could of had a bit more umph, but it was his intro movie, so give the guy some slack...the rider and the bike looked amazing though...
Wolverine2006
Ghost Rider was a pretty good movie but the fight scenes were too short and not that good, Black Heart sucked and didn't turn into a big black demon. And the last fight scene wasn't that good. Everything else was wicked sick though.
roughrider
I've been a fan since the early Johnny Blaze days.
I saw it last night - it sucked.
Mark Steven Johnson shows the same consistent approach he used with Daredevil - the result is a badly edited, narratively clunky mess with subpar FX, campy performances with so many howlers in the script, I was closing my eyes. Eva Mendes just adds to the crapfest, with work that belongs in the Grace Kelly-High Noon Hall Of Fame, for annoying females leads.
Best parts were seeing Peter Fonda as Mephisto (a tribute to his king of the motorcycle days with Easy Rider), and seeing Ghost Rider himself (thankfully not speaking in Cage's voice.)

Then why did they even bother to put him in the movie....
What about Mephisto? Did he turn all devilish in the end?
Wolverine2006
I don't know it was a disappointment I was expecting him to all the way until the end of their fight and then it just never happened
and Mephisto never turned into a demon either
Redatom65
dreadful. Better than X-Men 3 but worse than The Hulk. Awesome effects, efverything else :thumbs-down:
Menetnashté
Anyone know why the decided to make mephisto's name sound like something a greek hero would be named?
Darth Vicious
I would say its worse tha X3 but better than Elektra! The shouldve done it darker like Constantine.
jason maddox
I thought Ghost Rider was decent but it could have been well over a two hour movie and would have been better suited with an R rating, damn movie execs wanting to make everything family friendly
spidey-dude
im gonna wait afew days before i see it cause i know is gonna be hell in the theaters.
Menetnashté
Was there anything after the credits?
Jack Daniels
and if there was anything after credits was it worth sitting and waiting..lol...going tommorow
DanZeke25
I thought it was really good, coming from someone who doesnt read the comics.
SupezM'
It was terrible, save your money. Poor plot, extremely weak character development, lame fight scenes and a cheesy ending.

Somebody is finally honest. I saw the movie yesterday and I have to say that it sucked, big time. Nicholas Cage sucked in the role of Johnny Cage, his acting was so wooden. It was cool that there was some comedy in the movie but there was too much for a character of Ghost Riders nature. . I felt that the storyline was weak and Eva Mendes served no useful purpose in the movie. I also believed that the writers tried too hard in showing Ghost Riders toughness. It reaked of effort and only resulted in making Ghost Rider look campy. Peter Fonda was cool though, that was a rare good call on Mark Steven Johnsons part. Basically everybody in the movie sucked except Peter Fonda. I hope that there is a sequel to redeem the character.
Wolfie
I quite enjoyed it. I'm not huge in the comics but I like the character. The effects were great. I really got excited when he first turned into the Ghost Rider and when he got the Hellcycle. It had some pretty good action.
I did have some small beefs with it though. Blackheart was hardly Blackheart. The comic relief came on a bit strong. It was too easy to defeat some of the villains (but Blackheart just wouldn't die so it evens out).
And the line, "I'm the only one that can travel between both worlds. I'm Ghost Rider." Great line. But I thought that would've implied that he'd go to hell in some point in the movie....
Also, I think they should've pushed it to an R rating.

It's like the director knew Elektra was the worst Marvel movie ever and set out to take over the title.

The bigger hell is actually watching the film.
IRTMU-Dragon
The FX were ungodly. The way Ghost Rider looked, everything he did, it just all looked amazing, except for that crappy CG helicopter at the rooftop scene.
Yeah, some spoilers down here, I guess.
-
I think he defeated all the villains quickly because of the fact Ghostrider was always extremely powerful. Everyone says the fight scenes and stuff were rushed, but Ghostrider honestly wouldnt have much of a problem with those Villains, I mean, hes fought much worse and has come out unscathed, so.
They named Mephisto Mephistopheless because he didnt act anything like he did in the comics. In the comics he was stupid and slap happy and liked to play tricks and cheat people. He wasnt all dark and like "Boo, ima demon! Ima demon!" and crap.
I dunno... I'm done. I just know the movie was entertaining, albeit not the best.

its only hell when they bring there babies to the theaters. they should start to make a law on that.

I gave this opinion in the other GR movie thread. I suppose it really belongs here:
First 10 minutes were a lesson in bad writing. I understand they needed some exposition for the story but it came off as painfully contrived.
The rest of the story was good, but with 2 major failings:
They blew 2 opportunities to have a great fight scene (his battles against wind and water were weak)
and THE GHOSTRIDER DOESN'T MAKE STUPID JOKES!!!
His parting words to Mesistophiles were also corny. The idea is right, but there has to be a better way to say it.
P.S. I think Nick cage and Sam Elliot are fine actors who did a decent job with the weak dialogue they were given.
roughrider
I don't have issues with the casting. They all seem right - but Daredevil had good casting too. It's all in Mark Steven Johnson's execution - he's a hack director, and not a great screenwriter.
qqqqqqq
and whats up with the finger pointing?????
WrathfulDwarf
Ghost Rider now joins the long elite list of Marvel Characters butcher by greed and desire for money profit making. Horrible acting and does no justice to the coolness and kick ass image of the Ghost Rider some of us grew up with. The jokes in GR were enough to make me nearly walk out. Even worse Blackhearts lines.
Not gonna bother arguing the point from here on...all I ever get will be "if you didn't like it then don't watch it" from the fanboys. If you're a fan of GR....just rent the DVD. Don't pay a movie ticket price for this flick. That's my advice...take it or leave it.

Somewhere in the middle of Daredevil and Hulk. Add these...
Captain America
Punisher (twice)
Blade II and III
Man Thing

I had low expectations going to see this film.
I KNEW it was going to be cheesy and purely entertainment. Needless to say it met my expectations and will be added to my list of mediocre comic flicks.
boriquaking55
I'm a GR fan but I thought it was a piece of shit.
Too cheeseball, which I expected, but it should have went for the darker more serious feel like Blade 1. Instead it seemed aimed towards the younger audience - which is just stupid since one of the main characters was "satan". (technically mephisto, but the movie treated him as the biblical satan, which was crap)
AQUA-MARINER
no theirs nothing after the credits...i waited to see
(one of the songs was satans penis......wtf)
Big Sexy
Wow just came from seeing it. Began ok but felt rushed, sloppy, and lack of depth. Good actors, hack director. Really got the feeling that the actors really had nothing to go on.

I thought it was worth seeing but all of the points you made I agree with.
I hated that they didn't imply the seven deadly sins into blackhearts method he just did the thing where he killed on touch.
Captain REX
I completely disliked this movie, I have to say. And I like a lot of movies.
jgiant
I saw only his first transformation and when he battled the wind guy and was chased by the cops and it was awful. "You...Guilty" "Your Pissing me off" the ghost rider voice was terrible and his lines made it worse.
grey fox
For all those who say the movie wasn't good because .....
'You didn't see mephisto and Blackhearts true forms'
Let's be honest , they'd look f*cking ridiculous.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6e/MephistoFF.png
Could Mephisto LOOK anymore stereotypical ?
"Oooh , look at me i'm the devil , my skin is all red and firey and I have a claok , but neglect to war a shirt " !
Blackhearts Even WORSE

A lizard with dreadlocks...a F*CKIN LIZARD WITH F*CKIN DREADLOCKS !!!!111111
If their true-forms were shown the film would have been rated even LOWER then it already is.
Wolverine2006
I think Blackheart would look cool...they would probably change the way he looked a little bit but I would rather've had that than nothing
jgiant
Yeah he was boring and had corney stereotypical bad guy lines.
Wolverine2006
All of his lines sucked....and the actor playing him did not seem like Blackheart at all
§uffer§noopy
I thought it sucked. It's storyline lacked, the main villains were all pretty much predictable and lamely portrayed; Johnny Blaze was miscast but I think despite this Nicholas Cage did a fine job portraying a character he isn't really meant for. I forget the name of the woman, but his love interest in my opinion is just unnattractive to me - there could've been a lot more action, of which the existing action really should've been better thought out and expanded, and probably a bit flashier and more of a challenge for the protagonist. Also, the angles used for certain shots... make it seem like a cheap 60's film.
systemshock2
I saw it last Saturday and I really liked it. It was a fun movie. That's probably the best word that can describe it, fun. The movie never took itself too seriously, which looked like the point from the beginning. It was such a fresh concept in the comic book movies to see something like this.
Nic Cage's performance was something that still remains in my head. It was so...unique. Offbeat enough to make a difference but in a good way. And Fonda completely owned his role.
The action scenes were short but very visually charged. I mean when he drives his motorcycle up and off the building, that was some awesome stuff. I wish his battles with those elemental villains were longer, but they were still good.
And I really liked how Ghost Rider defeated Blackheart. It was so simple and yet ingenious at the same time. When it happened I instantly had that "Of course!" moment lol.
draxx_tOfU
why watch a comic book movie and say it lacked depth?
are you guys expecting a shawshank redemption type or dead poets society kind of dialogue?
anyway, i wouldnt totally say it sucked but at the same time it didnt blow me off, kinda so-so...
at least i think its BETTER than superman returns!
ooooooooooooohhhhh!

I actually think the comic version of Blackheart would've looked really cool on the big screen. I think they could've pulled it off.
This movie was pretty bad, but in a way, fun.
spidey-dude
other than elektra i think ghostrider is the worst marvel movie ive see. 1st elektra than ghostrider
tkitna
I took the kids and finally saw it. It wasnt great, but it was good enough that I was entertained.
jasonk3
and why the hell did they call memphisto...Memphistopheles?
draxx_tOfU
that's mephisto's real/full name...
Scoobless
I don't know what a lot of you are b!tching about, I quite liked it ..... then again, I don't get hung up on characters not looking identical to their comic counterparts ... wtf was up with people complaining that Wolverine was too tall in X-Men?

or Kingpin in daredevil being played by a black man

Sorry about the double post..
Went to saw the film on friday i enjoyed it and liked it, Only things i had problem with it was could'eve been darker like the blade movies and for mephisto and blackheart would've been good if we saw their demon forums apart from that a pretty good film
Since theirs news of the sequal hopefully we get to see mephisto and blackhearts demons forms in it
Superguy
I don't care about seeing Mephisto's true form in the 1st film, but why the Hell didn't Blackheart transform? Genius way of killing him though IMO. The film was neither very good nor very bad. 6/10 for overall. 8/10 for fun.
Scoobless
Black Heart sort of looked like his comic counterpart when he absorbed the souls and the black misty stuff was surrounding him.
P.S ... wasn't Blackheart a Care-Bears villain?
king_kong_is
What are you guys saying? GHOST RIDER is an extremely entertaining action-movie with cool SFX, nice acting, an awesome story, nasty demonic villains, a sad romantic sublot, a sympathetic hero, a kick-ass supernatural hero in Ghost Rider himself (dig that chain whip and Penance Stare, man!), and a cowboy Ghost Rider who is actually cooler than the Johnny Blaze Rider. I saw it last Wendsday, and I loved it with every inch of my soul!
GHOST RIDER RUUUUUULES!
(I hope my enthusiam for this quickly-turning-infamous movie doesn't turn off any friends or supporters I earned on this site when I signed up.)
Combat
It kicked major ass. It had good fight scene I think, he was awesome when he was GR, but when he wasn't it was funny. Oh and the girl had some hot moments and some not so hot aswell.
grey fox
Watched the film
I give it a 7.2/10
Pros :
1. SFX is fuggin AWESOME ! Ghost rider looks greats .
2. Deaths , watching people just age into bones was pretty cool
3. Cowboy Ghost rider was very cool
4. The chain was interesting and used very well
5. The jacket thing was pretty funny
6. Riding UP a building and ALONG water
7.Great Casting for Mephisto
Cons
1. Cages Accent grated on my nerves
2. Some of the lines were a little cheesy " Hey Dirtbag"
3. Blackheart had a crappy actor
4. While I stated earlier showing their true-forms would ruin the film , I would have preferred them to vaguely show Blackhearts 'real' shape while he was transforming
5. Music was a little cheesy(Ghost Riders in the sky..
)
6 Film felt a little...rushed. Like they maybe should have given it an extra 20 minutes or so.

Sorry but I gotta go by the grading scale
Story:B-
Effects:B+
music:B-
acting:B
overall I give it a C+
Or a 6/10

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with Ghostrider. Especially the stunts and the SFX. If you have ever ridden a bike those jumps would have seemed as stupid as they did to me. I used to do motocross, and am a big fan of Freestyle Motocross - and I wish they took a quarter of the budget they used on special effects to get some real bikers in to do the stunts.
Pathetic and absurd are the two words that kept on running through my mind as I watched it. There are more action, entertainment and adrenaline in a Freestyle Motocross competition than in any part of the Ghostrider movie.
My rating? 4/10.
Kazenji
Question for the ghost rider fans can normal guns hurt blackheart ?
because you see blaze in the film shooting blackheart with the shotgun with no hellfire.

It was teh awesome.

Watched my Ghost rider extended cut. Still a good movie.

I too went in with low, very low expectations and most of them were blown out, because I was expecting cheesier effects than what was given. Then again, I have not seen many movies lately. So having never read a single ghost rider comic book I had no inkling of backstory so the movie was entertaining enough and I had seen Blackheart's other form somewhere and really expected after he gathered the thousand souls to transform and I think it would have been appropriate and a better fight at the end. Some of the fights were a bit of a letdown but it was cool to see the hero just kick ass without struggling too much which is what has become predictable for most movies. Let the hero get beat up a little, the hero beats up bad guy some, then hero starts kicking ass, then he gets his ass kicked in return, then hero pulls off some incredible move, BAM! Bad guy dead... Instead, GR was like I'm so badass I can kill you in one move, sometimes two... Next movie would like to see him struggle more and maybe even get help from some other superhero ...
