WARNING!!!!! MAY CONTAIN SPOILER!!!!!!!

I found it on this website....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Swann

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
Elizabeth journeys to the World's End with Captain Barbossa, Will, Tia Dalma, and the Black Pearl crew in an attempt to rescue Jack Sparrow. She is reportedly captured by the Asian pirate, Sao Feng who believes that Elizabeth is Calypso, the goddess of the sea and the woman whom Davy Jones loved. (The second is impossible, because this happend prior to Elizabeth's birth. Perhaps she is an incarnation of Calypso, appearing in human body). Feng gives her an intricate knot necklace he wears around his neck. When the Flying Dutchman attacks Sao Feng's ship, the Empress, Feng is killed by a cannonball, and before he dies, he makes Elizabeth Captain.

willofthewisp
That's great. Liz, captain of her own ship. She deserves it. I think The Empress and The Black Pearl sound pretty good together. Anyone else?

Pirategirl85
well that explain about the necklace she's wearing around her neck...AWE

so then thats before she gets it....!

Mistypirate
That's where Sao keeps his piece of eight. The pieces of 8 are also needed to release Calypso. So I wonder why she might not be wearing it in that scene. And I'm worried because I don't see Jack. confused

So basically you want a W/E ending, only with Jack in place of Will. I thought you wanted a nice new twist to the whole fairy tale, not the same-old same-old. stick out tongue

ludagurl3d
Surreal, anything with Jack in the place of Will, automatically makes that ending 10x better, and twice as original.

Well..an ending with Jack and Elizabeth...is a twist...cuz if you go back to the beginning of POTC...who would have ever thunk it? right....plus...it's much more exciting..and...and....it's not fairy tale....and it's not same old, same old....that would be W/E... not J/E....

Yup the general audience is expecting Willabeth. Heck, even I wrote JE off as nothing the first time I saw it. And said "Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. Now we have to have Wllabeth again *sigh*". That is until I joined the fandom and read the writers quotes and things like that. Then I fell in love with JE, and there's no going back.

but I'm afraid TnT did a bang up job of sorts telling the story, because it was not apparent to the general audience. I hope AWE is.

willofthewisp
Hmm, you raise an interesting point, Surreal. Do J/Es turn their arguements back on themselves? We complain that W/E is ordinary and too unrealistic, yet we make J/E out to be just that. Hmm. Human nature, I guess. We all like the fairytale endings. But this is just the personal reasons why I only tolerate W/E and am not a fan of it.

COTBP
1. I thought the romance made both of them seem weak. I wanted Liz to prove herself and the only times she really did were when Will was not around. At the same time, I got sick of Will's "I'd die for her" bits. He's the hero. We get it.

2. I'm still a tomboy in spite of my J/E indulgences and I was far more interested in how they would all get out of their messes rather than would Will ever see Liz again and vice versa.

3. They only had a few scenes together total and only one before all the trouble started. I just didn't care too much about the romance there.

4. Will wore buckled shoes in a pirate movie. He's very smart and brave and I do like his character a lot, but he paled in comparison to the other characters.

5. I was too busy falling in love with Jack.

-------------
DMC

1. I was too busy wondering if the girl at the beginning was Liz because her hair was so dramatically different.

2. I thought it seemed kind of soon for the two of them to be getting married. My dad would have gone nuts if I went from sexy hand bandaging to marriage in the span of a year.

3. Once again, they have very few scenes together. I LOVED Liz was becoming stronger and she got to fight and really show off her resourcefulness and I loved how Will was growing up and meeting his dad and had this great plan. They're far more interesting apart than together.

4. When they WERE together, I don't know, I found both of them should have been happier to see the other than just mad at Jack.

There. Lots of reasons that have nothing to do with the J/E chemistry. The bottom line is that I didn't care about them in the beginning, and I don't care about them now. I love both of them to death and they're neat, just not together.

bingo!

I also don't understand why J/E have more scenes together if W/E are supposed to be the couple of the movies. They spend more time searching each other out, than anything. I guess I'm getting mixed signals. I don't think I've ever seen that before in movies.

willofthewisp
That's my thing. How do you get an audience interested in a couple that's never around each other? If they were together even a little bit more, maybe I could get into them. They seem to long for each other, but the audience needs to see that "love" on screen to care about them. They can be separated after that, but they need to be established first and "Please call me Elizabeth/No" just isn't enough.

Surreal I couldn't agree with you more. An unexpected twist will be a lot better.

Chiki Mina
A twist that brings closure not confusion smile

Mistypirate
I'm sure the twist won't bring confusion, it will be very well explain at the end.

I agree. We're supposed to feel a true ending has actually happened.

yes....I agree...that's just it....to me...there is no will and elizabeth relationship...they have no great moments together...no great lines...nothing exciting....just emptiness....ho, hum....

yes and u could almost feel that sense of something missing between those to....i mean they look good together, but not GREAT!

Chiki Mina
I have to adit that the scenes with Will and Liz are cute. There is this comfortable feeling between them.

But with Jack, you feel the tension. The sexual tension. ANd to think that they both met their match, makes them even more attracted to eachother. Each one knows what they want. The chemistry between them seems to be with more sparks.

PirateDiva
of course with Will she's cute....With Jack she's HOTT!

Will was a learning experience and with Jack she's more mature and knows better!!

Chiki Mina
With Will it was a natural, comfortable feeling. They have known eachother since kids.

But with Jack she gets to experience the true life adventure and her sexuality lol.

PirateDiva
Its to bad for Will that Liz discovered her sexuality right around the time Jack came into the Picture...lmao!

Chiki Mina
LOL omg now that you say that.

Have you noticed after Jack rescues her her dress is see through. lol

PirateDiva
well yes...i mean it could be cause her dress was white and she was wet....lol

Chiki Mina
Everytime shes with Jack shes always in, what considered back then, in her underwear dress lol.

PirateDiva
Yes very true...

yeah i thought that was funny smile

PirateDiva
she is revealing herself to JACK!!! LOL...thats the not so little girl in her coming out...thats her being a Woman....i think thet when Jack rip off the corset it didnt only represent her ripping away from the restraints of her corset, society wife life.....i think that was the very minute Liz became a woman, she grew up the minute she came back from almost dying!

lovethemtigers
It's like I said before..with Jack and LIz they reveal things to each other that no one else sees or knows...think about it....J

1. Jack rips the corsett from her....even if Will had been around to jump in and rescue her, he probably wouldn't have had the guts to expose her....
2. Jack brings her up on deck and what does he see...the medallion....but he doesn't tell anyone....it's a secret about her that only he knows.....and
3. then on the Island...Jack and her reveal themselves...she's in her underwear in front of Jack on an island (basically an older, strange man) and she is not in the least bit self-conscious...Will would have been trying to cover her up or something (get some clothes on, Ehtel)....s
4. She finds out that all Jack's great escape stories or just that..stories....and in the deleted scenes he shows her that not all the stories are false..there is some truth...he shows her all of his scars....
5. and the initimate scene when they are drinking the rum together..love how he watches her rub the top of that rum bottle and says "how much more"...LOL
6. Then she teaches him the song and they are dancing and singing around the campfire.
7. I love when he explains what the Pearl means to him....and "I'll teach it to the crew and we will sing it all the time..."......they are having so much fun in this scene...so at ease with each other...
8. Peas in a Pod....Jack tells her he admires her for going after what she wants....and she calls Jack by his first name..JACK...I like you but I don't entirely trust you...and then he says to her "peas in a pod" luv....
(gosh this scene ties so much in with "very much alike"...when they rerelease the trilogy as a box set..they need to add those two deleted scenes back into COTBP because it will tie everything together...
9. Jack's parting line to her....in COTBP
10. In DMC....when Liz tells Will she trusts both of them....meaning him and JACK
11. On the Pearl...when Jack is explaining the chest and the compass to her...the connection between them here is so evident...so intense..they barely notice poor ol' James in the background...I love how he keeps putting in his two cents worth..."you don't actually believe him"...and yes, she does...She believes in and trusts Jack...she has faith in him
12. The Persuade me conversation..right her Jack is coming more and more to realize what a match Liz is for him....here she is with the letters of marque..without having got the compass from him...but not Will he had to be honorable and do the things by the book..but not LIz...and just how did she get the prize?...she tells him "Persuasion"..and he's like "Friendly (LOL)"...."Not"...and then he takes the letters and hides them in his coat on his person and she wants them back but he's like "no Persuade ME"...LOVE The implications of this...SO HOt....Will is out of sight, out of mind in this scene...
13. Curiosity...here they both reveal things about each other....they both want each other...but lay out the terms under which that could happen...both thinking that it will never happen...but it does....she does go over to Jack's side by acting on selfish impulse...she is unable to resist...and he has a moment to do the right thing..to do something really courageous..and he does....
14. I love the way...she is too mad at jack for "lieing" to her to be excited for Will that he was reunited with his father in the beach scene...
15. In the script when the sword fight starts...she supposedly hollars "Jack"..but I've re-watched it over and over and she says "Will"
16. and of course...the Jack surrounded by Hallo...She's the only one who sees Jack in the longboat..and then suddendly he's there to save the day...he picks up the rifle and she clings to his leg...one of the most intimate acts between the two throughout both films...it's such a classic heroic pose..Jack firing the rifle...looking so brave and so tought..and Elizabeth clinging to his leg "My Hero!"
17. The Kiss of Death..the looks exchanged between them are zizzling...Jack is so serious in the scene..all jokes are gone...Elizabeth thanks him for coming back "I always knew you were a good man"...and then the kiss...the way they stay so close throughout this entire scene...the almost kiss...and that one single, most powerful word...PIRATE...

Sorry this is such a long post..just felt like talking about jack and liz again, as usual...

willofthewisp
"5. and the initimate scene when they are drinking the rum together..love how he watches her rub the top of that rum bottle and says "how much more"...LOL"-----lovethemtigers

Oh my gosh, is THAT what he was looking at? That's so subtle and so ingenius!

I like his reaction to when she yells at him.
Liz: Drink up, me hearties, yo ho.
Jack: What was that....Elizabeth.
Liz: It's Miss Swann!

And Jack just surrenders to it like, "whow," major PMS there.

lovethemtigers
i know...that is hilarious....I love when he says (deleted scene)..he calls her Elizabeth..and she corrects him and tells him It's Miss Swann....and he's like 'well, excuse, me."...but he says "I'm sorry, is there a problem between us Miss Swann..."...and she tells him she cannot believe he was going to tell Barbossa about Will in order to get his ship back and he tells her that he was not going to tell Barbossa about bloody stupid Will...gosh when they release the box set for the trilogy..they should add these deleted scenes back in to make the movie flow so what happens between j and l in DMC is more clear....

lovethemtigers
yeah...watch that scene...it is very suggestive...so funny....and i love how he smiles and says "how much more"....and watches her fondling the top of that rum bottle..classic, really..and she is so niave...

lovethemtigers
and another great quote/line that was left out of the movie...uttered by Gibbs when they are at the tavern in Tortuga...recruiting the 99 souls...

Gibbs says to Jack:

You'd best be coming up with a new plan, Jack, and it better not be relying on that compass. The whole crew knows it ain't worked since you was saved from the gallows.

then it says....gibbs moves off. Jack grimaces, glances at the compass, focuses back on the doorway...

And who comes through the doorway, unknown to him...Elizabeth Swann.

willofthewisp
Bravo! It's about someone in the movies realized that compass is nothing but trouble and I'm glad it was Gibbs. So then they don't do that "I'm here to find the man I love" exchange at the dock if this scene had been left in? They said in the commentary they played with a lot of ways to get her to Tortuga, but here's my concern.

They said Jack knows she's coming because of where the compass is pointing!

1. If he wants her but doesn't want to want her, he should be used to the compass going around in all sorts of directions. It should be impossible for him to decipher anything from it.

2. When he's doing his "I know what I want," it doesn't show him really reacting to anything the compass is doing. I think if it showed you something you'd look up to see what it was.

3. If he knew she was coming, wouldn't he have been less surprised to see her at the dock? He's shocked that she's there, so much that he turns back around to say, "hide the rum" on like an impulse.

I have to disagree with T&T's analysis here.

lovethemtigers
you are so right..they contradict themselves so much...and each other constantly...like the longboat scene...one says the compass is pointing to what's it's been pointing to the whole time for Jack (i.e, Elizabeth) and the other one says it may have pointed to land...go figure....

That compass is nothing but trouble...i tell you..trouble...who would have ever thought that a compass that doesn't point North could cause so much trouble....and confusion.....

ludagurl3d
And that is why I think DMC is a poorly done movie. I'm sorry, I'm grateful for the J/E, but it's so sloppy and all over the place. No wonder most people think J/E is nothing but lust.

Hell even I did before coming on the internet.

Chiki Mina
The only flaw of DMC was the compass. Ted and Terry argue alot on weather is what you want most in this world or your hearts true desire.
Plus, I don't remember who, but one of them said that the compass was actually pointing to Will at the beach scene. Which is incorrect--they are brilliant writers. But they are not perfect.

I took pics of the beach scene and meassured the distance between Jack and Will. So the compass was not pointing to Will.

ludagurl3d
I never heard that the compass was pointing to Will. When did they say that?

I don't recall. I remember that it didn't point to Jack on the island, always the chest, but she thought it was and got pissed off. But Jack figured out the triangulation, (He's smart!) LOL

Chiki Mina
^^ It was mentioned over at kttc.com

Shit, I forget to go there. I'm a member there also. But a long time ago the compass thing was an issue. And, I think it was Terry, mentioned that the compass was pointed to Will bla bla.

I respect Terry he is brilliant, but hes not perfect nor I'm a suck up lol. Ted and Terry argue alot about the compass.

I'm not questioning you LOL, but are you 100% sure. Because I have never heard that, nor have I heard anyone else ever mention that. sure I've heard people speculate that before the DVD commentary came out, but I never head it proven true.

Is it possible that you can find where he said that and post it?

That makes me sick to my stomach actually... sick

Chiki Mina
In fact...there was a thread about it here. A while ago. I had to take pics in order to show where the compass was really pointing.

Yeah...here is a screencap from that deleted scene where she is caressing the bottle of rum..and he's like "how much more"... laughing

lovethemtigers
and another screencap of it...

willofthewisp
I've never heard the compass was pointing to Will the whole time. I thought the writers say in the commentary it's been pointing to the chest the whole time and it's just because of where Liz is in proximity to it that she goes in a little triangle and assumes it doesn't work. Remember, at first she got manipulated that she wanted the chest most of all, not Will.

The compass needs to go. It would have been so much simpler if the compass showed you what you ASKED it to show you, like "where is the heart of Davy Jones," etc. It would have made the audience actually think about the J/E relationship rather than being slapped in the face with the fact that it goes screwy every time they both touch it.

Chiki Mina
I have nothing else to say about the compass other than it's bloddy annoying.
