He-Man has an interesting forum rep around here. Some see him as being clearly herald level, while others are skeptical that he’s that powerful. Both are somewhat right, and we felt He-Man needed a respect thread so that KMC can know exactly what he’s capable of.

Darthgoober helped a bunch with this thread. He and I both contributed roughly half the scans in this thread. So he deserves as much credit as me. My thanks to him for the contributions.

General Thoughts:
He-Man has some occasionally amazing strength, speed, skill, and other feats. None of these feats, however, by current comic standards, are beyond what we would expect from anyone considered “cosmic” or “herald level”. A few feats do put him in this class, and I think he’s more versatile than a lot of people realize, but most of He-Man’s current rep is based on hearsay, not actual feats.

This isn’t to say he isn’t an impressive character. But this thread is intended to give everyone a better idea of his abilities, powers, and strength.

He-Man has also been with multiple companies, so it’s hard to determine exact powers, power levels, and “canon” for him. Generally on KMC, we’ve considered everything part of his canon, regardless of company, but there’s no set rule when it comes to this stuff.

I’ve tried to group it by company. He-Man has been with DC, Marvel, Mattel, and Image. There might be others, but that's all I’m aware of.

So, the layout will be:

Darthgoober contributed most of the stuff from the Mattel/Marvel section. A few from that section are mine, but my contributions are mainly DC/Image. I had to do some research and take an educated guess at Marvel/Mattel because I don't know for sure (I have a PM into goober). But I have a couple comics from those companies, and the artwork matches (for the most part)...but if I'm wrong, I'll edit it.

D. Sword Feats

He-Man’s Power Sword is surprisingly versatile. It reminds me of a slightly less versatile/powerful version of Mjolnir (Thor’s hammer). Here’s a sampling of examples of what it’s capable of doing.

He-Man has the sword send out vibrations to repair a large crack in the ground. It re-seals itself.

Here he absorbs lightning-bolt energy from a storm into his sword. The storm, at Skeletor's bidding, had pooled all of its energy into attacking He-Man, so he's basically absorbing the entire electrical output of a large storm system.

Here He-Man plans to lift up an entire section of the city (a few buildings, along with roads and such) to get rid of a fire, and seems to think he’ll be able to do it. Orko puts out the fire on the next page, so he never gets the chance to try, but the fact that he thought he could do it is telling enough

A building-sized statue, easily weighing thousands of tons, falls directly on He-Man. Suspense, pause, lift. Badass stuff, from both a strength and durability perspective.

Similar strength feat. A giant stone golem (at least 5-6 stories tall judging by the pic) tries to stomp on Teela and Man-at-Arms. He-Man holds up his foot, then pushes up so hard it shatters the stone giant.

One of the coolest skill feats I’ve ever seen. In these scans, He-Man is atop a “flight disk”. He dodges laser fire from attacking ships, deflects their blasts, and jumps from ship to ship in midair to take them out.

C. Durability Feats

Massive durability feat: This explosion completely destroyed Snake Mountain (Skeletor’s base). He-Man was at ground zero of the explosion and survives, unharmed and conscious.

This is actually a feat for Battle Cat. A rock avalanche falls directly on top of Battle Cat, completely burying him. Not only does he come out completely unharmed, but he’s pissed.

D. Fights

This is an extended fight between He-Man and (I think) Triclops/Lockjaw. He-Man displays some strength breaking out of the steel bonds and decent fighting skill, but eventually loses the fight. Evilyn had magically augmented Lockjaw for the fight, so it’s hard to tell if this is a bad showing for He-Man or not. Regardless, it’s a cool fight.

Yeah, it's a great example of how He-Man's rep is much more myth than fact on KMC. Some of it is true, but some isn't.

Adam_PoE has thrown around a few feats in battles that neither goober nor I have found. They're all pretty damn uber, but I have yet to see or hear about them except from him. He has provided the names of story arcs once or twice, but it hasn't helped when searching for them. So I'm inclined to believe him, but I won't allow myself to put, say, mountain-range-lifting feats in HM's reportoire until I actually see it.
