When I first heard Epi. I was going to be made there were many rumors on who would play the young Darth Vader.I got the impression somehow that the boy in Jerry McGuire and Stuart Little got the role.Although he made have been young,I think he would have been a great Anakin. And when he takes his glasses off,he has similar looks to Hayden.Just picture him in Jedi clothing.Do you think that would have been a good choice?

Darth Daft
Yes maybe, although I actually think it would have been better with a twelve-year-old like Lucas was originally going to have.

Jedimaster3838
I think Jake Lloyd did an okay job. All he did was say the lines that Lucas wrote for him. And the only good kid actor that I can think of is that little guy from the Sixth Sense, he plays a good "dark" little kid. But I would have also like to seen Anakin a little bit older, early teens. I mean he is only 9 years old and he is too old? It would have made more sense for him to be too old if he were actually older.

Darth Daft
Good point JM3838, and I agree that Joel Osemond (is that his name) would also have played the part well.
I don't think that being too old is that too much of a big deal though. I don't actually think that's one of the main reasons why he ends up turning to the Dark Side. Luke was 18 when he started training! That's twice as old as Anakin was, but still he never turned to the Dark Side (despite getting close).

theEviljedi
I didn't like Haley Joel that much.

Darth Daft
I prefer him to Jake Lloyd. He seems more mature and sensible.

theEviljedi
If your complaining about the corny lines,it's not his fault. He didn't write the script.

Darth Daft
Yes I know it's not. I said that on another section that its not Lloyd's fault. Lucas just gives him the lines and he has to say them the best he can.
I just think Haley Joel would have played the part better.

theEviljedi
I still like that glasses kid.He really would have been good and at that age it is ok to talk like that. Not when your almost ten{Jake Llyod}.

Darth Daft

theEviljedi
He still could have. And he could add kiddie giggles to make it sound more realistic for a kid.By the way,how did you get that thing above Padme's name?

Smart you are.smile smile smile

I really couldn't see Haley Joel Osment as the future Vader..he's got a bit of a dopey look about him...

theEviljedi
Thank you Dimmy.smile

Darth Daft
How about one of those kids out of Sesame Street?
...Just kidding

I guess Jake did the best he could. He wasn't weaned on the OT, and GL was facing a whole new generation with ep1-3. Jake had to be a kid, be "THE BOY WHO WOULD BECOME DARTH VADER", and deal with GL's dialogue. Pretty hard work for kid actor.

theEviljedi
Your absoultely right. But I still think the kid I suggested would have done a better job.

Darth Daft
I don't. Jake Lloyd did a good job. It's only the lines that sometimes make his character seem a little poor (no pun intended).

Has anyone seen the Movie Jingle all the Way with Arnold Schwrzenegger. Jake Lyod is the little kid in that movie too. He plays the exact same character in both movies. That bothers me. The kid from Liar Liar (Justin Cooper) is about the same age. I'm not saying he would be better, but I wonder if he was considered for the role.
