If you notice there are different writers and different artist in each issue. So it should be interesting.

But I wonder who is the character that gets killed.

I think its the Atom, since he is the only one in the teaser picture who appears dead but to the best of our knowledge is not.

That way we get more character driven stories, that explore how Perry really saw Clark, and the favoritism of Lois thing. But that won't happen.

You might be right. But it reminds me of Marvel when Quesada kept saying they were going to kill Speedball and in the end they didn't.

But I read somewhere I forgot that Jimmy Olsen is one of those things that is constant in every universe and never changes. He is always the same character, so it might be him. But then why would they make a bid deal about it. But it would make sense since Superman is crying on that teaser poster, or maybe they finally off Lois Lane.

The panel was moderated by the always-energetic DiDio, and included writer Paul Dini (Detective Comics, Batman: The Animated Series), writer/artist Keith Giffen (52, Marvel's Annihilation), Coordinating Editor Jann Jones, Senior Editor Mike Marts and Vice President of Sales Bob Wayne. The hour-long event maintained the same humorous and lively atmosphere fans have come to expect from these DC Nation panels, but thankfully, DiDio also made sure to treat the audience to some incredibly enticing teasers. DiDio called upon several audience members to help unveil five placard boards, each containing a tagline related to Countdown's various storylines.

The first placard contained the cryptic slogan "Jimmy Olsen Must Die." While the panel remained relatively tight-lipped about its meaning, writer Paul Dini did mention he thought it was well past time to endanger a character that is only one-step removed from a hero, rather than several.

The second placard contained a picture of Mary Marvel beneath the tagline "Seduction of the Innocent", a play on the infamous Frederic Wertham study from 1954. The reveal drew a big reaction from fans familiar with the innocent, under-used and somewhat dated character. Dini would only reveal that Mary finds a few new mentors in the DCU, and they might not be the characters we'd normally expect.

The third placard read "The Search for Ray Palmer," referring to the former Atom, the JLA member who disappeared after the events of Identity Crisis. When prodded about specifics, the panel only remarked, "the smallest man is sometimes the biggest piece of the puzzle."

The fourth placard read "Villains Defiant" and showed the hands of two villains shackled together. Apparently, for the entire length of Countdown, two very different and incompatible super-villains will be stuck/chained to each other, and it is through their eyes that we will follow the criminal underbelly of the DCU.

When revealed, the fifth and final placard inspired the biggest reaction from the audience. The card contained the line "Unto Man Shall Come A Great Disaster" located above a drawing of one of the greatest comic book villains of all time - Darkseid. The panel remained hush-hush regarding this clue, but for many fans, the teaser confirmed the rumors and suspicions that the New Gods of New Genesis and Apokolypse are coming back in a big way.

That Flash is none other than Wally West.

Although the signs of a New God revival has been on the horizon for a while now.. Even looking through my books over the past few weeks, we see New Gods in Flash's title, ION's title, Blue Beetle's Title, Birds of Prey, Firestorm, and more.

I'm still excited to learn what was meant by that last preview from the NYCC.

The card contained the line "Unto Man Shall Come A Great Disaster" located above a drawing of one of the greatest comic book villains of all time - Darkseid.

Darkseid seriously has to mess up Superman. Even if he jacked up every other hero in the entire DCU, it would mean nothing if he just gets pounded by Clark, Jeph Loeb style.

Either way, New Gods stories typically make for very good ones.

I felt it was hinting to Darkseid.

I was thinking Darkseid was going to be a big part of it, but showing him in Countdown promos would seem like an awfully big hint. I can't help but feeling there's something bigger that's being counted down too that they wouldn't give away in the ads.

Given that Redatom's boy Captain Atom is making a comeback too, and they have stated he's going after the monitors, and........this picture.

Anyways, Firestorm takes down the powered up Kalibak, and the hordes of parademons depicted on the cover...Darkseid shows up, takes down Firestorm, Mister Miracle, and Orion effortlessly with one hand by some waves of energy. He looks at Firestorm, "You are the champion of the red? Your power is considerable." Firestorm says "I'm not just going to stand here and --" Darkseid cuts him off, "Yes, that is precisely what you will do." And he reached into the Firestorm Matrix and physically ripped Jason and Prof. Stien apart. Then took the Professor and left. Apperently as discussed in the past few issues, Darkseid does not have the Anti-Life yet -- as Motherbox told us -- but that Professor Stien has all but solved the equation... and now Darkseid has him.

Issue #51 is out. Some stuff that happened: Darkseid talking about recreating existence, Monitors hunting down threats to the Multiverse, Duela possibly being killed by a Monitor, The source wall telling a Monitor of the Great Disaster and that Ray Palmer is the solution to it. There's other stuff too, but I'm too lazy to write up a summary.

I read it. I hope this doesn't get drawn out like 52 did. when weeks go by and I'm like: hey what ever happened to so & so?

I liked this issue. It got right into starting to address the characters that I'm most interested in (Jason, Mary and Ray). Hope the good stuff continues.

The whole "Search for Ray Palmer" got interesting.

jason vs jason x, jason x special, friday the 13th fear book, special and the blood bath series, i own nightmare on elm street fear book, special, nightmares on elm street, nightmare on elm street paranoid, nightmare on elm street the beginning, and marvel nightmare on elm street magazine. Also own texas chainsaw massacre the grind, fear book, and special.

I have other crossgen comics i did not mention such as miridium, mystic, way of the rat. I also own the lawbringer one shot, as well as negation war, the charron comic, and a comic about one of the true rulers of crossgen universe someone above the first

i own all the mask comics that i know of, there great ones too there the mask before he became a comedy, he would kill people and such in zany and crazy ways i also own the adventuers of the mask.

I believe i own all the lobo minis, the lobo series, the hitman series, lobo one shots, even batman/lobo

ive read all the following comics

all the hellraiser comics 1-20 i believe a great horror anthology its gory as heck and it brings a fresh look at the mythos

nightbreed puts the movie into comic book format then continues on to other stories including the new midiean

kiss psycho circus 1-31 it might seem dumb but this series is pretty interesting, the four members act like there counterpart IE simmons is the demon, another is the celestial and they have powers to match there counterparts

i read all the first series, negation series, scion, sojourn, and also a samurai comic from crossgen.

ive read the following horror comics, childs play (none movie adaptation but a spin on the character) halloween (chaos comics own spin on the comic) I own a official halloween comic which is a side story nothing that changes the movie but elaborates on it, i also own the 3 issues from chaos, the one issue from xmachina and halloween one good scare each a great comic that shows you the direction the movies could have gone in

jason vs jason x, jason x special, friday the 13th fear book, special and the blood bath series, i own nightmare on elm street fear book, special, nightmares on elm street, nightmare on elm street paranoid, nightmare on elm street the beginning, and marvel nightmare on elm street magazine. Also own texas chainsaw massacre the grind, fear book, and special.

I have other crossgen comics i did not mention such as miridium, mystic, way of the rat. I also own the lawbringer one shot, as well as negation war, the charron comic, and a comic about one of the true rulers of crossgen universe someone above the first

i own all the mask comics that i know of, there great ones too there the mask before he became a comedy, he would kill people and such in zany and crazy ways i also own the adventuers of the mask.

I believe i own all the lobo minis, the lobo series, the hitman series, lobo one shots, even batman/lobo

yeah i thats the one the path and the other one is the one you mentioned solus or something where this entity goes after sigils, as well as beat up alot of high powered people, such as ingra, and even treat atwals monument as little more then a card bord cut out.

and yeah the path is the one, guy gets a weapon of heaven which is actually atwal's you find that out in the first, but anyway he kills a whole army that's sent after him he also has to fight his former friend the emperor dont remeber if the emperor was one of the first in digsuise though.

Anyone picked up Countdown yesterday? It was an ok issue, but what I was excited about was that we actually got to see...

...the fight between Batman and Karate Kid from Justice League 8. Its shown in its entirety (only bout 2 pages but still great)

what is it iwth DC and Marvel and these giant crossovers thats why its so ahrd to buy DC and Marvel if you buy a mini you have to buy all the tie ins
