Ryu the wandering Streetfighter against Liu Kang. Defender of Earth against Shao Khan. Who wins this fireball throwing fight to the finish?

Liu Kang.
The chosen one.
Ryu has awesome energy balls, but Liu's fireballs are gifted to him by the elder gods.

Liu Kang cuz his martial art form is faster. Ryu's form is slower in the games

Ryu.. he studied karate in the mountains for god knows how long.. and you've gotta be a tough ass to walk on all kinds of pavement with no shoes

Winning scene.. liu kang goes for a bicycle kick, and ryu does a shin shoryuken to finish the battle..

I've got to say Ryu myself. Although he's slower he definitly has the better fighting style and Liu's speed won't be that much of a factor, Ryu's beaten fast opponents before, Vega anyone? And if the fights going bad he can bust out some super combos on Liu's skinny ass.

Yeh I agree Ryu is really cool definatly the better out of the two

Yep, Ryu definately wins. He's stronger, better trained, and push him to far and the dark hado takes over and turns him into Evil Ryu. At which point there won't be enough of Liu left to fill a match box.

I said Liu Earlier, but now I favor Ryu cuz I forgot his massive fireball when his special meter is fully charged.

Kang's been resurrected HOW many times now, shows how much the elder gods depend on him.

Yeah but Ryu only has to knock him out. so resurrection isn't really that big a problem for him.

That big energy ball of Ryu's travels pretty slow...hell, Liu has the time to quickly eat a sandwich and then jump over it.

Yeah but the fire ball's really just a setup to get them in the air for a Dragon Uppercut or as I remember Ryu lovingly calls it. SO-RYO-KEN

Definatly Liu Kang, everyone seems to forget that he has the ability to turn into a dragon, ryu can not

he doesnt do anything with the dragon besides bite.. so ryu would just use a denjin hadoken to stun him.. then he can do whatever he feels like.. I believe ryu defeated Gil in street fighter 3 (a demigod)

ryu kick lius sorry ass all the way , liu has a fireball and ryu has a an energy ball made of chi the energy that can make and destroy everything , liu has a bycicle kick and ryu has the hurricane kick(i am pretty sure a twister is stronger than a bycicle) , liu can become a dragon , and ryu can become one of the evil energy comander with the power of the dark hadou...liu is dead

he's died enough already it isn't new to him.

Well no body deafeated Gill in SF yet. But Thats the kind of beings Ryu is up against. Can't wait for the next SF.

Nobody defeated Gill.

In Street fighter 3 he desires to answer much deeper questions, such as "what is a true warrior?" and "What is there beyond the fury of battle?" in order to enlighten himself.

They never gave a date. All I know is they left alot of stuff unanswer in 3rd Strike.

Try picking up UDONS Street Fighter: Eternal Challenge book, it has every thing you need to no about SF. They even have interviews with Capcom.

Great matchup... they are my two fav characters from both fighting worlds (sf and mk) but id have to go with Ryu

he is simply more powerful.

and can focus better

And has a better desire to win...

in other words, he is far more stronger

I think Ryu would take this one. Kang has alot on his shoulders and has the favours of Rayden, but Ryu's power and potential for expansion far supercede that.

I think ryu could beat raiden, definitrely akuma.

Kang is 2 fast for Ryu,

And if Kang was under MY controll, I would not allow Kang 2 be set up for the dragon punch.
Kang as the speed over Ryu. and Ryu is tone down a LOT in later games. So even speeders like Vega could beat Ryu. and Vega in the games, a SKILL Vega player should have no problem with a Ryu player.

No Kang has no claws lol. But that flying kick could go over Ryu's fireball and hit him in the jaw. That move could catch any one off guard.

if you are talking about game mechanics maybe, but in the games even dan or birdie can beat ryu .Lius b kick wouldnt be anything faster than ryu has already seen, ryu never let his guard down , he focus in the fights more than anyone , and in a theorical fight ryu can dodge bullets easily and can hit more than 15 times and the victim will only be able to notice it after some seconds.Ryu is faster , stronger , has better technichies.

I agree with Hoshi. Every battle that ryu has been in, he's always Focused except for that battle with Ken because there was something bothering Ryu at the time.

the B kick is decent speed, the flying kick, is the fast move for Kang here. Kang can knock a fighter down with it, when a fighter wobbles or doing a fireball, or Ice ball lol.

the b kick can work well , but the shin shoryuken can work a lot better if we are talking about counter attack, even if liu fly over ryus hadouken he would just do a shin shoryuken while liu is doing his b kick

Ryu has slow recovery time with his fireball,

Vega can just hope over a fireball, claw him and hop back. I can see Kang useing the flying kick to go over the fireball and nailing Ryu before he recovers from it.

i think you are refeering too much about the game mechanics .Because if you see in the anime , ryu can dodge his hadouken when it was conter by the android .But in the games ryu couldnt dodge his own hadouken if it was reflected to him.

Ryu in every aspect, he is also faster.

faster ,stronger, more experience, can focus better , has more powerfull moves, has a better style ,has more tech ,etc.

If I was to put my money on someone I'd put it on Ryu, he seem's alittle more focused and a tad stronger

ok but in the end there's no real way to know for sure....it would be somehitng special to watch a fight between them. I mean logically people would favor superman over wonder woman in a fight to the death but wonder woman won in the comics somehow because of her stupid close range combat BS. so if they did a fight like that with Lui Kang and Ryu it would be somehitng

but in every aspect ryu is superior from liu kang , not much , but a small difference will define the winner.

Liu Kang wins. He has defeated alot of powerful opponents. As someone said earlier, he's also the faster fighter. He'll beat Ryu.

Compare Ryu's spinning kick to Liu Kang's bicycle kick or the flying kick. Liu Kang's kicks are obviously faster. The only advantage is the fact that Ryu has anti-air attack (Shoryuken) but that doesn't give much of an edge since Liu Kang himself can shoot fireballs while in the air.
