Thank god. That suit is so gay anyways. If they were to put a suit on him I would hope that it is waaay more modern and less revealing.

It's just that he tries to remain inconspicous yet he wears a bright blue suit, with underwear on the outside and a big red cape. Why doesn't he just wear a t-shirt saying. I'm not gonna try to hide anymore my name is Clark Kent and I'm an alien.

Not to mention that the no collar thing is sooooo 70's. And not the good punk part of the 70's either.... The really bad, lame ass bell bottom part of the 70's.

I think it's more meant for comic's. A little easier for the artists to draw... But in real life the outfit could be so much cooler.

The suit is timeless. It's simplistic, retro, regal, and everything that a superhero needs. It's come to represent not only power and strength, but also responsibility. Would you prefer him in a leather jacket? It's friggin' Superman!

And Superman isn't the alter ego in which he wishes to be inconspicuous, it's Clark Kent, or rather Metropolis Clark. There're three aspects of Superman's personality: there's Superman, the hero; Metropolis Clark, the clumsy and shy reporter from Kansas; and then there's Smallville Clark, aka Kal-El, who's just himself.

Haha Sorry dude, that's just how I feel.

But if superman ins't trying to remian inconspicous why doesn't he tell eveyone his name is Kal-el or Clark??

A Suit identifies that hero, A person could have the exact same powers but its their suit and name that make them the hero they are.

They arnt going to have Clark in the suit....

WTF is this BS?? That the main reason for me watching the show, to see Clark grow into Superman, then at the end don the 'S', thats THE reason for the show. Smallville is a great show (most of the time anyways) but if they don't have Clark in the suit, even if its only for 2 seconds at the end in the final episode, it will be the biggest, dumbest, most retarded letdown I've ever seen on a TV show. To have a build up for 6-7 years and not have him in the suit at the end will leave a LOT of people really really pissed off and let down.

While he doesn't try and hide his appearance (mask or what ever) he still does not want people knowing who he is to protect his loved ones. What Superman does is have people beleive he is Superman all day every day with no alter ego therefore no one suspects anything. Although anyone who knows Clark and Supes would instantly know who he is by looking at him... However this is not the case in comics lol.

I guess that makes sense. Still I don't like the outfit. Everything else about superman has been updated over the years I figured they would want to update the outfit. At least a little.

It's from Wizard Magazine, when they asked "What if DC went Ultimate like Marvel?" "Ultimate Superman" as it was called in the article, would've taken place five years after Smallville.

Hmmmm He has a collar and no underwear on the outside... not too bad. Still a little revealing though. I just don't think guys should be wearing spandex.

No, you cant change Supe's costume, its timeless, and it IS Superman, everything else is secondary.

They should just put him in a modified version of the Returns costume, but to fit Welling. It was not spandex (more like rubberish), and it looked cool, but it was still basically the same suit, except updated for today a bit.

I don't believe a word of this. You mean to tell me that they can't have Christian Bale do a small cameo. Or perhaps have another actor play Bruce Wayne. Tom Welling certainly wasn't Superman in that recently horrible film. As for the superman costume, that has been a stable of the superman mythos for years. Tom Welling is going to have to wear when Smallville finally ends.

Yeah that is lame that he cant ware the costume but i have read somewhere that he wont ware the costume because that stands in his conctract

Well, I believe it's because of one of the agreements from the lawsuit between DC Comics and Superman co-creator Jerry Siegel back in the 60s and 70s.

Imo it's not something you change with a character like Superman, his costume is almost iconic and he would not be Superman if it was dramatically changed.

All I can say is Welling better be in the suit, even if its for like 10 seconds, otherwise I'll personally assassinate the producers of the show and Welling himself.

I know it's iconic but still... I mean it doesn't have to be skin tight. And since smallville takes place in modern day times... not the 70's. He'd have to have something to cover his face in order to make it believable. At the moment he's too fast even for video camera's to get a good look. So if that's the case he won't even need a suit. If they can catch him on film then he will need a mask or else someone will figure out it's him. Smallville has in the past insulted everyone's intelligence but they've come up with at least a lame ass excuse. What lame ass excuse could they come up with in the modern day and age about why the he would need a suit when cameras can't pick him up, or why there is no mask when a camera can pick him up. Let me guess, the camera always somehow manages not to catch his face.

I just want to see Tom in the suit because he's an uberbabe. Sorry, but it's the damn truth.

I agree that the suit is a little strange, but it's iconic. Like, Superman without the blue suit with the underwear on the outside is anticlimactic. If Clark just flew in sans incognito it'd be like, "WTF, there's a flying, super-strong guy now? Where'd he come from? Ahh!" Chaos, pretty much Dark Thursday again (like the end of season five). In my imagination, at least. Might be a little dramatic, but hey, it's Smallville. Anything goes. ; )

But Tom could possibly make the suit look sexy. Hell, everything looks good on Tom.

Well first thing, The suit thing was prob put in the contract from Welling, if he wears the suit, he would be typecast. Look at Reeves, dean Cane, what happened to them, Adam West...All guys who couldnt get work after, cause they were branded Superman and Batman for life. Im sure that the writers would have loved to put Clark in a suit at the end, but Welling and his agent want a career after.

And besides, they always have Clark in a blue t-shirt and red jacket, and the show drops superman stuff all the time which is why I like the show. The episode were he is trying to stop that nuke missle, and you get a shot of it climbing through the air with Clark on the back. its blurred so it looks like he is in the superman suit....And the episode where the kid can see how people die, he sees superman's suit flying through space (no face of course) If that is gonna be all the "suit" they show im happy with it. besides didnt Clark once say that he could never see himself going into battle with a big "S" on his chest.

Well I guess since they have messed up royally Superman origin, Putting him in the red abnd blue tights won't matter. Thing is it should matter because seeing Clark Kent finally donning those tights will finally make the tv show a lot better and have a big send-off. I am not sure on this, but isn't next season, Smallvilles last?

As hot as Tom welling is I don't really wanna see his package through red underware over top of a skin tight blue suit. There's good sexy and bad sexy hehe

in 20 years when they bend over and pinch out.... i mean remake all the classics i bet there will be a gay superman, "lois" will be some swedish guy with a gotee, and clark will be in drag and nobody will know that hes actually a dude except as superman.
