is dc trying to be like marvel with the animated dvd now.
Redatom65
what are you an idiot? Bruce Timm is only doing ocasional shows AND they've been doing dvds way before marvel. Remember hmm let me see. Batman: Mask of The Phantasm. Moron
doan_m
No. Animated movies direct to your television screen has been done for quite some time especially by DC. Take a look at Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, old as hell that movie was and it was directly ported to VHS at the time.
Big Sexy
Who did the,"God awful" Braniac vs Superman dvd movie?
Tron
Different voice actors? This doesn't look too well for the film. That reason alone will upset a lot of fans, especially if the actors don't get the characters right to some people. Lets hope for the best, since Timm actually on this project this time, rather than that trainwreck that was Superman: Brainiac Attacks.
Face
Superman and doomsday actors from batman animated are involved with the movie
Tron
No, the interview stated that Timm is using different actors, to kind of separate it from the general DCAU. Not a bad idea, but it may come back to bite him in the end.
Redatom65
It would've been nice to go with the superman TAS cast

The only thing I ever ask out of Bruce timm is to do a JLU dvd movie or 2. Make huge and big and awsome story to conclude the last 15 years of greatness with a bang!

"For one thing, we found out that now Superman’s skin is totally invulnerable, at least according to DC Comics."
"You know, Superman’s skin is invulnerable. It can’t break.’ When we said it broke in the comics, they said ‘Well, that was ten years ago."

lol, it can break, if he's hit hard enough that is... silly timm... they're planning on doing an awful lot in 75 mins, they better not shortchange us on the fight itself...
no typical timm art either... i wonder how it'll look...
Tron
I think I had a good thought about this movie: Superman's being voiced by the "Hero of Canton", Jayne Cobb himself (I'm referring to Adam Baldwin for those that don't get the Firefly reference). That puts a smile on my face.

OB1-adobe
I'm kinda pissed that this movie isn't part of the DCAU now.
After I saw the animation style, I was like, "that Paul Levitz guy said it was going to different, and he said that they had been there done that Bruce Timm's style" but freaking doomsday looks kinda like the doomsday from Justice league.
At any rate I'm watching the DCAU right now from BTAS through JLU (with the exclussion of static shock, and Zeta project, except for maybe the crossover episodes on youtube, but not all of them are there)
I'm planning on posting my own personal review on the entire shebang, and possibly a trivia game if anyones interested. As I've been watching I've been thinking up good (kinda hard) questions like:
1. What voice actor who plays a major Superman villian, also does minor charcters on Batman Beyond?
2. Bat signal first appeared in which episode?
3. How many Batman villians appear in the episode 'Trial'?
If anybody has good questions they would like to throw in PM me. I'd like to get 50 or so questions for the game, possibly 100
I'm on third base right now watching Batman Beyond and then the Justice league series after that.
WrathfulDwarf
Unlike the comic book....Supes is the only superhero in the battle.
This fight is gonna be good!

Dude, did anyone catch the comic con screening, I couldn't make it, I had my tickets and everything, but 2 days before I found out my Grandma died and I went to her funeral instead.

Did anyone here catch the screening and care to post their reveiw though.
WrathfulDwarf
Sorry to hear about your grandma. I was there on Saturday. It was for Thursday only. We'll have to wait till the release.
Mirai Gohan
I think the movie will be good, despite Tim stating there won't be any blood which kind of sucks. I'm still looking forward to this DVD though.
The Great Galen
Whats the point of this move, Bruce Tiimm will botch the story just like how he botched the entire DC lore with his JL/JLU series. I will never forgive him for lowering Superman to such a pitfiul jobber state..it was damm right hard to watch Superm in the JL series. He looked so ****ing weak lol.

The wondercon trailer.
Mirai Gohan
Well, that's what Tim said, there wouldn't be any blood.
Magee
Why would he say that considering Superman was lieing there with blood all over his face...
The Great Galen
Well Timm is pretty much known for messing up story arcs and changing things however the way he wants it. Hes had liberties with the DC lore before so whats to stop him from messing up this.

Yeah, probably so.
Moving on, I think that everything about this looks great. I especially like the new look for Lois, much better than in the animated series. Hopefully the DVD will have some kickass special features.

Just saw the movie.
It was pretty good, but could have been a lot better.
Mirai Gohan
For once I actually don't want to know anything about the movie. I don't want to ruin the experience for when I watch it for the first time when I get it.
Magee
The Superman vs Doomsday fight was damn amazing one of the best fight scenes I have ever seen from DC animation. Good movie I enjoyed every minute of it but Superman seemed to cause far to much damage to Metropolis, was kind of like wtf Superman wouldn't do that at some parts.
Galvaclaw
In the second fight my guess is the area around the Lexcorp tower was evacuated, seeing as the military intended to use that area a battlefield. In the doomsday fight no idea.
WrathfulDwarf
I got my copy today. Gotta get home and watch it.
Anyone want to shed some light into the extras?
Estacado
One thing I liked in the movie that....That Superman didn't have the strength to beat Doomsday........ so instead he choose to do a suicide bomb dive.
Magee

They should have had him bring him down in some remote area not in the heart of metropolis, was a bit strange. After it they were like yea no one died although he blew half the city apart. The first thing Superman did to doomsday was cool as fuk I loved that, you know what i mean.
Kento
Maybe he didn't have the power left to get him away from the city. Doomsday was fighting back for a bit as they were descending.
Man I just seen this movie earlier today before work and I like it a lot. Didn't expect so many people to be killed though. Though I did like what happened to Toyman for some reason. The fights were awesome also.
UniOmni
I liked it more than any other Superman movie, but it lacked the impact that the comic had.
DOS was insane for it's time, since Superman never got that damaged in a fight.
Matter of fact, since then he's still never been mauled that badly.
For him to be cut, gashed and bleeding profusely, really hammered it home that he isn't a god, only godlike.
They should've tattered the costume much more, and gave him bruises and cuts and just piled on the damage.
DC deciding to leave that out, really makes it a pale imitation of the comic.
And DD being tied to Luthor was just another way of bringing Lex into the picture..........why?
After the failure that was Superman Returns, put lex on the back burner DC.
The best thing about DOS, was that it wasn't some contrived plot or a result of some scheme.
It was entirely random.
A big monster broke out of an ancient prison, and killed Superman.
Just another day....that Superman dies.
I'll give it a B-.
Mirai Gohan
Sounds like the movie is good, I look forward to watching it whenever I pick up a copy.
batdude123
It was pretty decent, but wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. With only 10 minutes out of the 80 being centered around the Superman/Doomsday fight, it felt like we were ripped off.
Anyway, I actually enjoyed the Superman/Superman fight better than the Superman/DD fight.
It was funny when Lex tried to goad Superman into that red sunlight room, but Superman just tossed it through the building.

That WAS hilarious...and a stupid move on Lex's part.
Superman did seem a lot more powerful at the end even though he only had like 65% of his strength. Lex's Superman seemed like he would have beat the sh*t out of Doomsday without issue. He seemed pretty unstoppable if kryptonite wasn't involved.
UniOmni
He didn't even get mauled!!

Superman had the suit on though, so it's like his healing factor got a slight boost

No Henshaw sightings.
"Robot" and "Superclone" took the place of the Eradicator in some ways.

Was Lois this bitchin' in the comics?
I'm surprised she didn't kick Doomsday's ass on her own.

Yeah... for WB... I think the violence was up there considering all the slack they got over the return of the Joker.
But I really liked the movie since I was one who was doubtful.
I wish WB would pick up Gaiman's Sandman and turn it into an ongoing cartoon series. Maybe like Spawn on HBO.
Mirai Gohan
I want the WB to come up with a new Superman series but they could make it a bit darker than the 90s cartoon.
superkronick92
That movie was awesome, the fight scenes were some of the best I've ever seen in an American cartoon. Kevin Smith's cameo was really great
Sarutobi700
Will this movie be CANNON. Like the fighting and speed
superkronick92
It's cannon to itself and that's it
Sarutobi700
Thats your excuse incase Supes fights slow
superkronick92
?? I've seen the movie, it's not cannon to the comics or to the JLU or Superman Animated Series. It's a different Supes
Sarutobi700
It said it was an animated adaptation on the death of superman
superkronick92
Yes it was. But that doesn't mean it's cannon to anything but it's own unique story( it's a little different than DOS)
Sarutobi700
Lol I bet if Supes fights SuperSonic speed you would be like OMFG its 100% Cannon
Kento
Superman: Doomsday is canon until itself. JLU, Comics, Movies, and this movie is all canon unto themselves. You can't use anything from Superman movies for the comics or from JLU for Superman: Doomsday, or anything like that.
superkronick92
Heh, well Superfriends Superman moved the moon like every other episode for no reason, but I don't say that's cannon, because it's only cannon to Superfriends.

Sarutobi700
Lol at Supes tryna look smexy. The fight is pretty cool. Marvel should do what DC is doing and make animated movies out of the 616 universe. i would love to see a Cable vs Silver Surfer
superkronick92
Ya, the fight scenes in the movie are definetly some of the best fights I've seen in American animation.
Mirai Gohan
I really look forward to seeing the movie. From what I hear from most of the Superman fans, the movie was pretty good.
WrathfulDwarf
I still don't understand why Pa Kent wasn't in this story. In the original story he played a very important role in bringing Superman back from the dead.
Joseph_Kerr
I don't recall, but wasn't Pa Kent already dead in the comics.. he came to Kal El in the afterlife if I remember right.
starlock
I liked the movie only a llittle, and thats because i love superman
They should never have said it was based on the graphic novel..i felt ripped off at first and had to force myself to just think of it as another superman with his death as a story, and to hype it as such is a crime
The art was ok for the most part...and horrible for superman, the lines on his face were a distraction i could not ignore
Voice work was good, lex took some getting used to but it was ok
Overall i was dissapointed, but i guess i will take anything now that the JLU cartoon is done

Pa Kent was alive...but during the reign arch he suffered a heart attack and met supes in the realm of the afterlife....Pa might have flatlined for a bit, but was back after a while

Actually, I'm thinking that you are right. I haven't read the arch since it originally came out... and right after that I was collectiong all of Knightfall series and had to drop the superman books (I have always been a collector of Bats but couldn't pass up the DOS.. had all the comics leading into Doomsday, DOS and Funeral for a Friend, but then it got real expensive).
super pr*xy
movie was ok. i expected a lot more action with the doomsday fight. the way they both died was meh. i was expecting help from a few JLA members. i was expecting it to be like in the comics where when doomsday get punched, rocks would pop out his skin. luthor looked anorexic. this movie could've been done better, but it's good for what it is... a PG13 movie...
Kal-El_08
I still look forward to watching the movie, I should still be getting it for my birthday or for X-mas.

I'm not getting my hopes up, I'm just looking forward to the movie.
FistOfThe North
Well I finally saw Superman: Doomsday last night and i gotta say what happened to Doomsday? The movie seemed mostly about stopping Supes clone..
Anyway, the fights were spectacular but seemed a bit exaggerated but cool none the less.
The story was not as engaging as the action/fights and the way Lois found out Supes was C. Kent seemed to casual and fake.
Had excellent visuals. Except i didn't like Supes checks there. He looked wierd with those lines on his face. I give it a C+. This was Superman's fist animation movie. It should've been much more profound and organized than it was.
Magee
The ending to the Superman Doomsday fight was disappointing and it should have lasted longer than it did. I enjoyed it any way but it was far from perfect, maybe the next one will be better, give us Darkseid!
jumpmann
It was a good movie, almost great but a few weaknesses kept it one notch down I thought. I like the direction they went with the clone. Original, and probably a better way to go animated. Lois, who is always underused in Superman stories in recent memory, had a lot of great moments.
Maybe DC could put out more animated movies of their best comic stories. The Killing Joke, Emerald Twilight or some kind of GL story, The Dark Knight returns, Superman Red Son...I hope New Frontier is a success for this to continue.
PRAYERRUN
I got the movie and thought it was pretty good...wish it had the full comic story in it though....but the story they have is pretty good on it's own right.
SuppMan
i bought it recently.. just because i'm a big superman fan i thought it was good, but it could have been better. i think the movie should have deff. been longer.. it felt like, doomsday appeared, seconds later they are fighting, and then another second later they both die**. they should have developed doomsday better. throw some more twists into the story.. it was kind of predictable for those who don't know the story already. the bad ass clone was pretty cool. thats how he should be all the time.. killing the bad guys. haha. j/k
pr1983
bought this and have watched it twice so far... to be honest i thought they did a really good job... i doubt they'd have had enough time to do the reign of the supermen story properly, it would have meant adding on a lot of time (probably double to get it all in), so i can understand their reluctance...
the fight with doomsday was excellent, really well done, and showed how both men had different styles of fighting...
voices were ok, though lois in the first scene or two seemed a little off, though she got better...
wasnt sure about the clone thing, if they'd used bizarro maybe i'd have liked it more, but it certainly wasnt that bad by any means...
the preview for new frontier looks good imo, and the cast... holy crap...
