UK Adult

UK Child

US Front Cover

US Full Jacket

(The US Full Jacket is very large, it won't fit on your whole screen, at least it didn't on mine. Just a heads-up.)

As mentioned before, the US version has 784 pages, which is the largest book barring OotP, most probably because they are using a larger font, and the UK version has 636 pages.

Arthur Levine, the US Potter editor, spoke this morning on the TODAY show about the American cover:

"We're seeing Harry in a very interesting situation. Readers will find out exactly what the situation is.

"When I was reading it, I had both the excitement and the power of the book, and the plot, driving me forward. But I was also feeling a little sad. It's the last time."

When Levine admitted he "sobbed and sobbed" while reading Deathly Hallows, he was asked the following:

"That means someone we like dies, doesn't it?"

"Well, it means it is a very, very emotional book," he responded.

*Courtesy of Mugglenet.*

At first glance on the UK Child version, it seems as if Ron is holding the sword, but if you look closely, there is a greyish hand on Harry's right shoulder, and large ears behind him. Perhaps Dobby is wielding the sword?

Obviously, exciting news for all HP fans...

siriuswriter
Sorry to double post, but I can't edit my previous one...

The UK version will actually only have 608 pages. I switched my Deathly Hallows and Goblet of Fire numbers around.

At any rate...

Darth Macabre
All good covers, but the Adult UK version gets me thinking: did R.A.B. really get a chance to destroy the locket or not?

Barker
Yeah, so I'm kind of excited.

Kind of.

melane
WOOT!!

The Phantom
Woot. Seems like Barker is ready and everything. (looks at his sig and avi.)

melane
laughing out loudHe drooled all over his shirt.

What's with the locket Harry's wearing? 31

siriuswriter
So I haven't already overanalyzed the covers or anything...

But the US Version, it definitely looks as if Harry and Voldie are either working togther (wtf) or competing in calling something. *note colloseum like background, and some sort watchers, or audience...*

Good God. I'm not sure I can last till July without pulling every sort of reasonable theory out of the information we know, and starting to give silly theories.

The Phantom
Give you five guesses. I got mine already.

siriuswriter
Five guesses?

I'm only giving out three...

The Phantom
I meant on Barkers question. But Voldemort and Harry working together... well... interesting... highly doubt it...

Barker
Voldemort's mad because he wants to wear it, so he has his hands out and he's all "mhm"? srug

I know. The silly theories are starting already.

July needs to come now.

That would be... Slytherin's Locket.

And yes Barker. Voldy wants Harry's bling. That's what it's REALLY been about this whole time. That's obvious from looking at both the UK covers. Geez, how could we have been so blind. Now Voldy can finally fulfill his dream of being the rapper he's always wanted to be. The surgery for his red eyes is not in vain!

no not on the adult cover... if you look on the childrens cover.. on the left hand side panel.. theres like a glass sphere witha snake in it... it kinda reminds me of whata prophecy would look like.

siriuswriter
Ahhh. smile

It looks like there are lots of those in the UK Child cover. I keep thinking that's Voldy's Gringott's vault... *shrugs*

oceanflame
do you think VOldemort would still ahve a Gringott's vault .. even after he was apparently dead... maybe he had a heir to keep it for him while he was gone for all those years. maybe someone we dont know about yet... but my first impression of the cover was that the stone archway was like the Veil ... maybe its not all that it seems. haha oh dear.. too many theories coming out.

RoguePw25
Yeah, I thought it was the Slytherin Locket as well. Hmmm.. wonder what's what all about.

Syren
I think they're great. I also can't seem to get the idea out of my head that Voldemort and Harry are working together on something on the US Full Jacket, they're both gazing the same way and gesturing similarly. Although, would Harry be on the front and Voldy on the back? Meaning Voldy could be reaching for Harry while Harry's attention is focused on reaching for something we can't see? shrug

melane
I wish the book would come out sooner.

It's there. It's slightly darker than his skin tone just to the left of the right-most batch of bangs.

The Scar. Admittedly, not as easy to see in the UK cover.

In Us cover it does look only like hair. There has to be something about this in the Deathly Hallows.

siriuswriter
Mary Grandpre has always drawn the scar like this, though.

I can bring in examples if you REALLY want me to, but I'm feeling rather lazy at the moment to get out my Paint and do all that work.
