Why are people admitting they went and checked CNN, or put the cursor over the thread title (Thereby admitting checking the veracity of the claim), and then asserting some sort of 'you didn't get me!' moral victory?

It was more like. I had already been on CNN and hadn't seen anything, therefore I was not duped.
