Let's see how hulk does against Other top tiers. If he's being written to above top tier status he may take a couple against Thanos. Thanos still has Tp, matter manip, Strength amping, severly rediculous durability, and fighting skills that >>>> Gamora. Thanos 8/10 based on Hulks incredible upgrade.

That was a long time ago, and Thanos was just imagining what it was like to fight the Hulk based on his reputation. Thanos has gotten a lot stronger since then, far beyond the Hulk.

but a purely physical confrontation with some 'blasts' and energy attacks on the part of Thanos, would only result in Hulk beating him senseless. infinite wells of physical force will overcome any physical attacks, given the opportunity.

Hulk's a markedly interesting and deep character, psychology, origins, the Banner-Hulk dynamics. that's depth, much more so than is the norm with comics.

as for his offensive and defensive capabilities, again there's depth there, it's just how closely you read what's said and shown in comics. TP doesn't work on him, magic is not very effective, physical force will only work for a short while (as he grows stronger) and then be totally worthless... that's a strong defence.

offensively, he's got physical strength and an absurd ability to grapple with the intangible. from gripping +energy fields+ to forcing apart matter and anti-matter.

He's not refering to Hulk's characterization he's refering to Hulk's offensive abilities being limited to physical attacks.

His defenses are impressive (although I have yet to see evidence that magic is less than effective) but his offense remains limited to hitting people.

I prefer to get an understanding of the basis for the assertions people make, regarding certain characters. I've very little interest in the promotion or aggrandisement of any specific character and so I often have very little to say on matters. except where I see some logical reason to object to a pronouncement and/or where a character seems to be obviously capable of feats/levels that are denied it.

First off, if you're using the example of Wolverine stabbing Thanos when he had the IG, or the crossover where they fought, you're an idiot. The first is total PIS and shit writing, the 2nd is worst writing and a non-canon crossover.

2nd, Surfer owns Hulk. That shouldn't even be in question. He's owned Hulk many many times. Now in H2H, with no powers or amping, eventually Hulk would beat him. But that's basically a blind/deaf/retarded Surfer.

3rd, Thanos IS a planet buster. He has on-panel feats of destroying planets. His strength level is enough to school Hulk, Herc, Thor, Thing, Drax and a few others AT THE SAME TIME. His being stronger than the Hulk should also not be a question, but a fact.

4th, Although his H2H skills aren't used as often, keep in mind that he trained Gamora, who has insane H2H skills. And that he's punked people like Champion in a fist fight.

5th, Thanos is a genius. Probably the smartest guy in Marvel. Hulk is legally retarded most of the time. Now, if this is prof. Hulk or the new World War Hulk, that's not true. But Thanos is still at 10x smarter than Hulk.

As Grey Fox said, Thanos can just rip Hulk's head off and shit down his neck. Just like that. And he has beaten Hulk already on-panel.

Thanos can kill Hulk in any number of ways, but Matter Manipulation is probably the easiest.

Nobody knows what World War Hulk is going to be like. But the preview said he is more powerful and more enraged than ever. I mean, if you believe a few people who backstabbed you in the past, destroyed the entire world that you just liberated and saved; not to mention your wife and unborn baby, I'd be pretty pissed as well. I liek hor JrJr is drawing this. He did great with Thor's epic battles against Destroyer, Mangog and Thanos.

The preview was pretty spicy. Bottom-line, he's going after Black Bolt, Iron Man, Reed and Dr. Strange. That is a tough lineup. I don't think many people would have given him much chances prior to World War Hulk. They'd cite Master Punch, Strange's magicks and all sorts of things. But as we can see from this panel, the authors aren't shying away from their past fights. Medusa mentions the Master Punch here, how awesome is that?! And you just know that Iron Man is going to sic Sentry on Hulk. You just know it.

Drax was using an apparent 'Anti-Thanos' aura to smash through Thanos. Also just losing his heart really shouldn't of killed him. He's an eternal.

Fist fight : difficult to say, but WWH is insanely strong, mad and durable. Throw in his unbelievable healing factor and I really think Hulk has got the edge here.

Any other fight : Thanos wins, but not "just like that". He'll come home with a black eye and two broken ribs.
