I'm affraid I can't tell you. I've got over 20GBs of books on my PC and 1/5 of them are about Venom but it's a terrible mess. It'd take me weeks to find the issues. All the scans above I've been saving in a folder I made for respect threads but wasn't paying attention to the # of books. Sorry.

Have any of you guys read Venom: Dark Origins #3 yet? I actually like the way they portrayed Venom in it as well as the art. I haven't really like the previous issues, this one was pretty good IMO.

I wouldn't be too bothered with the strength rating , it says his height/weight variable as we know his strength is proportinate to his size/muscle mass , guess the 11 tons is his base strength

I think way over that, cause he was much stronger than 11 toner as Venom.

those stats are waaaaay off. first off, Gargan can grow, and does, and amps. (even if he is a jobber, minus his first appearance with The Sinister Twelve, what happened after that is anyones guess.).
second, i know someone that works on those handbooks for marvel, and even he says those scales are off for everything and shouldnt even be looked at. think about this, the highest strength scale is 100+....
some characters can lift 2,000+. does that mean anyone with a full meter can go mano-e-mano with another? of curse not. Gargan shows about as bad as Ares most of the time, but neither are actually anything near weak.

ill be back with some scans (that unfortunatly wont show much...sigh, what a waste of a character)

Veom/Mac Gargan:

boy, i wish there was more to show, but the powers that be just choose to job this guy...
alot. he of course appeared in Thunderbolts. His feats amount to him losing control alot, and
eating someones arm. then he moves on to Dark Avengers, and becomes the new Spider-Man donning
the symbiote appearance of his rival. there, well he loses control alot, and and turns into a
complete wuss who is afraid of Bullseye. lastly, he shows up in some other Dark Reign books,
Fantastic Four were he does, well nothing but look scary, and Spider-Man, where he takes the
mother of beatings from a Spider-man prepped with sonics, and Sue Storm. thank Marvel for jobbing
another character with good potential. lets move on them to some at least decent showings for
the old Scorpion.

anyways, Gargan is a great character, unfortunatly, like some others i can think of, Apocalypse, Ares, ect, suffers from bad writing.

The Fusion Symbiote hybrid, was a lot differant. It actually replicated the host, and amped whatever they had big time, as it did Ripclaw, and even took on a larger version of his appearance for awhile. It also didnt need a host to function whatsoever.

Anti-Venom - New Ways to Live #1

for those who need to know, Eddie Brock is now Anti-Venom.
here is a synopsis.

summary: when Mr.Negative used his powers to cure Brock of cancer, it
triggered a hidden ability in Brock to develop his own symbiote.
as Anti-Venom, Brock possesses the same powers he had before as Venom,
super strength, super speed, super agility, camouflaging, and tentacles,
as well as Spider-Man based powers like webbing, wall crawling, swinging,
spider-sense, ect, all enhanced.

new advantages to being Anti-Venom are firstly his symbiote is no longer
a separate entity. this leaves Brocks only battle with himself, and allows
him a greater deal of control over all of his abilities which are now dependent
on his own mind and reflexes, and very great considering the amount of time he
has spent using a symbiote. he now also has the additional abilities to cure
any diseases or abnormalities in any being, one particular ability is he can purge
symbiotes from hosts as well.

Brock himself is a trained detective, able to scope out
a scene and know what is going on, as well he is very skilled at hand to hand and the
use of firearms.Brock is now attempting to turn over a new leaf, using his abilities to
clean up crime and help those in need. all the while, he must avoid capture as he is
now a fugitive having fought Norman Osborns Thunderbolts.

Brock sneaks a tentacle behind the gunman, wrapping it around his thumb and disarming
him. He then goes on to tell his soon to be victim he can detect hepatitis in his
body.

the drug dealer goes on to taunt Eddie with the news that his friend has been infected
as well. Brock lets him know that he has purged her of hepatitis, and even of her heroine
addiction. Having enough of this fool Brock decides its time to choke him.

I'll be the first to say the whole anti-hero thing was and still is pretty cheezy (Anti-Venom is currently playing that card), but in the same stroke it can be a guilty read if done well (i.e. Deadpool).

I liked Venom best when he didn't have an angle other than battling his inner demons, preferably as a villain that thought he was a hero or just as a villain.

And I dislike Gargan greatly. He's weak and an idiot. I don't think he's doing the symbiote or the name any favors.

All Gargan Venom does is job and eat random people.

Agreed. If you go to almost any repect thread you'd most likely find this guy "owning Venom" that guy "owning Venom", Gargan gives him a bad name, cause when it was Brock it was always "Venom owns" this guy and "Venom owns" that guy...

I know what you mean, but villains usually come out losing anyways.

I think he was just so popular at the time that he became a hero. And he was one of the major characters that were apart of the dark/anti-hero phase in comics during the 90's (i.e. Spawn, Spider-man, Venom, Nightwatch, ect).

And I personally liked how he was still a murderer though he claimed himself to be a hero. He had a warped sense of justice.

Depends on the writer I suppose. I know I didn't care for "The Mace" series or "Sinners Take All", but others were better like "Funeral Pyre" and "Separation Anxiety".


He didn't stick to the whole anti-hero gimmick in the end. During the tsunami imprints he was a recluse that got involved in a plot in cloning the symbiote and using it as a weapon. Although it wasn't successful, I still liked it.


And I think Gargan being afraid of Bullseye is truly pathetic.

-AC What are you talking about? The only person he's been losing to often is Spider-man due to PIS. Other than that he has crazy showings, owning almost every major Spider-man villain - Electro, Sandman, Carnage, Kraven, Morbius etc as well as great showings against other characters like Wolverine, Thing, Ghost rider, Hulk, She-Hulk, Human Torch and even Juggernaut that either ended with him winning or in a stalemate (more often winning). Gargan on the other hand gets his ass handed to him so often I lost count by anyone who isnt too lazy to fight him. Spider-man summed it up pretty well, a loser dressed up like Venom is still a loser.

I remember his fight with Danny Ketch Ghost Rider. He tried to eat his arm, right?

Sounds like a venom thing to do...he always used to talk about eating spideys brains if I remember correctly

Was there a recent issue of Gargan Venom beating up Daken and Bullseye?

It was Dark Reign: Sinister Spider-Man #4. Apparantly Venom has a descent showing in there.

Mac did hold his own well and I don't think he was in any danger during his fight with the two. He proved a little bit of worth to Osborne with deposing Bullseye and Daken.

That was a decent showing but he didnt really beat Daken, just bfred him. Also his durability was crap as always, both Daken and Bullseye slashed right through the symbiote, Mac was bleeding all over the place.

His agility it different. In terms of agility when it comes to acrobatic like stunts, Spiderman by fair amount. Venom agility more akin to mister fantastic due to the ability to alter his body.


That suit really does not hinder his movements at all and never showed to if I recall the armor you are speaking of correctly, the darker grayish black one. Also DD radar sense unlike Spidersense would still work against sympebiots. Also venom lacks even less skill then Spiderman making he quite predictable.

Was that fight even canon? 'cause in "trial" Venom fought both Spider-man and Daredevil and as far as I remember they couldn't do squat against him. Were forced to set a trap. And there was another encounter, Spider-man and DD were both trying to stop Venom from killing Carnage. In the end they had to reason with him because they couldnt stop him any other way.And agreed he has more of mr.Fantastic kind of agility. But Brock is a pretty skilled fighter. Has some great feats without the symbiote.

I not a fan of the art either, it the same as what Brand new Day spiderman had for a while.

So it not just Bendis now, we have even more people ignoring Daken's powers wonderful. Same writers need to be briefed that Daken is not a poor mans Wolverine he very different. His claws are again the wrong color. He again had his pheromones ignored, and again they have him fighting with all three claws. Whats worse is they ignore the fact his third claw negates any healing factor or power, that it can kill anything.

Agreed. Daken's been written crappy in his latest appearances. I mean Hawkeye? Seriously?!

What happen with Hawkeye?

That mini felt almost like a story from alternate universe. I wouldn't take it too seriously...

It was canon. Badly, badly written canon. Matt wasn't really Eddie's main target and this was another of his near breakdown moments where he doesn't restrain himself at all though. I'd scan it if I had a scanner, but then the art is so dark and ugly it looks like turd on toiler paper anyway.

Issue 3 and 4 were drawn by two artists, though. One was mediocre and the another one (from your scans, too lazy to check out his name) - god awful.
