1. Marvel vs Capcom
2. Ultimate Alliance
3. Ultimate Spiderman
4. Incredible Hulk ultimate Destruction
Thanos_THOTU
Ultimate Destruction would probably be the best, there were so much you could do, unlike the others which forces you through a narrow corridor, which they called the story mode.
And Mugen tops Marvel vs Capcom, and I'm tierd of Mugen already.

The old X-Men arcade game.
Colossus: "BWAAAAHHH!!!" (in a rising crescendo)
...
Also, Spider-Man 2....solely for the amazing swing mechanics and freedom to roam around Manhattan. The game itself was "meh" but the free-roaming was the absolute sh*t.

second on the old x-men arcade game. it had cyclops, wolverine, storm, colossus, nighcrawler, and...dazzler??? and why did juggernaught have a bazooka?

I forgot about that.
My favorite was NC'er. Not so great against bosses, but he cleared the screen like no other when there were about a dozen random baddies on-screen.

I remember it. I also remember having incredible problems with the game. I couldn't get past a single level!
Does anyone remember this one?

Not my favorite but still a little more fun than X-men.
I actually own an X-men arcade and it's a pain to move but fun as all get out to play when friends are over. Although one does tend to get sick of it after a while. Still...fun game.
Psyquis52
My favorites would be...
1. Marvel Super Heroes - The second fighting game using Marvel characters made by Capcom. I felt as though it gave more for the character's styles.
2. Marvel Super Heroes War of the Gems - Most people missed this because it came at the end of the SNES's life. It's a spectacular game. Fun and more time consuming than you'd think.
3. Spiderman 2 - This was the first one to offer real free roaming and made you truly feel like a super hero. Awesome work.
4. X-men Legends - First successful attempt at a RPG and it's pretty darn good too. Probably the best addition for this was the Danger Room. I enjoyed destroying my friends as Sabertooth. Heh.
5. Marvel vs Capcom - all the benefits of tag-team play on a faster loading system. Last of the great Vs games. When MVC2 came out they got rid of Medium punches and kicks and made the games waaaayyyy too wild. It was more of a who-can-make-an-epileptic-sieze first game than a fighting game.
6. Xmen - and they never came up with a better system. Go fig.
7. Captain America and the Avengers - Yeah, I know they came out with a port for the SNES but it stank. The original arcade's the only one worth your time.
8. The Death and Return of Superman - Someone had to like it and that person is me.
9. Maximum Carnage - Great music and a really solid beat-em-up. They made a sequal to this after a while but it sucked butt. This is the better.
10. JLA Total Justice - I feel it was very true to each of the characters. However...it is a little crappy, but if you want truly crappy then you'll have to find the Lobo fighting game.

Marvel vs. Capcom II. Best cross over fighter ever!
Spiderman: the arcade game was also really cool. And Turok: Dinosaur Hunter was great in its time (though it's virtually unplayable today).
I also liked War of the Gems on the SNES.
1: Marvel vs. Capcom
2: Shadowman
3: Spiderman: Arcade game
4: Ultimate Destruction
5: War of the Gems
6: Turok II: Seeds of Evil (Sucks now, but I have great memories of it)
7: Spiderman 2 (classic Gameboy)
8: Marvel Super Heroes
9: The Punisher (Arcade)
10: Maximum Carnage

yeah i remember those, they had those mini sentinals.. they game was madd hard tho haha.
i remember each character has a "special move" that they can use like three times. cyclops was the worst, cause he could only fire his optc beam 3 times lol.
my fav was night crawler in the game.

X-Men Arcade Game = Da Sh*t!
I remember playing that and only knowing the xmen from the cartoon, so I had no idea who Colossus was
His special move had nothing to do with his actual powers, so for years I always thought he was some kind of energy guys or something

grey fox
The Superman returns game should be here.
Why ?
Because it has perfect controls.
It's controls are what a Superman game SHOULD be. You can almost FEEL the sonic boom as you go faster.
Too bad the rest of the game sucked. So it's kinda like SM2 in that respect ?

-Captain America and the avengers
-Maximum Carnage
-X-men Mutant Apocalypse (Snes)
-Shadowman
and a few others..

Maximum Carnage was a hell of a tough game. Way harder than that Spider-Man game based on the movie. You had these tough boss battles and very limited continues. If you got a game over, you had to start form the very frickin beginning.
I could never beat it as a kid and I just stopped playing it for several years when I moved on to Nintendo 64. I played it again just last year and it still gave me hell until I finally beat it.

I enjoyed those old school games from the 90's they were much more challenging...the new ones can be defeated in a few day or so, too easy now a days.

Yeah, that happened a lot. Probably 75% of my play time was just swinging around around after I had beaten the game and gotten all of the swing powerups.

Oh man, I remember playing that with my mom when I was like 7. We couldn't figure out how to get past the big wall of rock on the first level except to teleport through with Nightcrawler and have the other character stuck on the other side. Apparently we had never heard of switches at the time and we were also the least intuitive gamers of the 1990's.

It's twice as good if you swing around with a stolen purse or balloon.

That game is impossible to finish on the emulator when you get near the end and you have to reset the game for mojo's bomb.

With current technology, it could certainly become interesting. And you could (feasibly) have, say, a level where there's a bunch of sound-killing vibranium and you're essentially fighting in the dark.

I used to love the X-men game for the Sega Genesis. The one that starts you off in the jungle fun game. Nightcrawler was sweet in that game.

Oh man, that would be incredibly awesome or incredibly terrible. i agree, if it was supposed to be released in 2004, that means the graphics were from like 2000-2002, so you gotta cut it some kind of slack.
it does look fun to play, and that sorta radar vision (blue thing?) if that what it was looked intresting..

That was pretty awesome, it's good to have cameo's of other heroes in games with the free-roam option beccause NY is a big city and nearly all of the heroes are situated there.
I found USM reaaaally repeptitive though, especially the free roam missions in between levels (like the battle tour things etc.)
