Admit it, Scream is a classic.

This was a savior to the genre back in the 90's besides "Silence of the Lambs", "The Sixth Sense" and the TV Series of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and made horror popular again. Just forget the cheap rip-offs like "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Urban Legend and the sequels, just enjoy the original 90's classic.
I think this is a much better Wes Craven movie then the disgusting "Last House on The Left" and just as good as his original "Hills Have Eyes" and "A Nightmare on Elm Street".
MildPossession
Of course Scream is a classic, it's my favourite Craven film actually, more than Nightmare on Elm Street.
Shame is spawned off a lot of crap though.
NormaBates
off course it is! everybody laughs at it but in all fairness it is a very clever entertaining movie! We all love, although some of us are too chicken to admitt it
LaHaine
it's the fact that films such as this created the horror pop-culture of the mid90s, which carried on with bubble-gum horror efforts to this day.
last house on the left was and is a horror classic, by the way.
Scream was just the beginning of dumbing down horror.
ConalCochran
Last House on The Left is a sadistic and vile piece of trash and for sick minded freaks who love "Faces of Death" and "Men Behind The Sun" , "Scream" is a way better Wes Craven movie. And what about the ghost movies these days like "The Sixth Sense", "The Others" and their imitations? and do you watch "Buffy"?
MildPossession
I do believe Last House on the Left is getting a remake.
pumas79
why am i not surprised
Solo
I admit it, Scream 2 is just as good.
doomsday49
admitting scream is good! but wtf, scream 2!?
BackFire
I love the original Scream, gets an unfair reputation because of all the shit that spawned after it and the ridiculous sequels, but the original is indeed a classic as far as I'm concerned.
I don't think it's Craven's best, though. I prefer the raw, angry and honest brutality of Last House on the Left.
It's definitely up there, though.
ladygrim
i like Scream its scary gory and it never fails to amuse me but the sequels were just a load of ...
vintageSW77
i dont like any of them
it was the beginning of what we are getting today
crap horror movies made for pricks
MildPossession
Well I liked the trilogy, but 2 and 3 were not up with the original for me, still had excellent moments though.
ragesRemorse
i liked how scream and craven were portrayed in jay and silent bob. The monkey was the killer lol thats about how i felt at the end of scream 3
the original is deffenantly a fun movie though
dawsey28
I LOVED Scream.
I liked Scream 2. Not as good as 1, but still good.
I thought Scream 3 was terrible.
Sweet Escape
I enjoyed Scream alot. I stilll to this day find myself watching it.
mr.smiley
I liked the first film but it did spawn a lot of crap.
bitca360
Scream is the reason I began to love horror movies as a kid...clever funny scary...good stuff
cropsy_is_god
I liked the scream movies there the last good mainstream horror to come out imo. Plus i like wes craven courteney cox & David arquette.

Scream is responsible for the rise in talent free identikit here today gone tommorow teen orientated horror films that pricks fill the cinema with thus leading decent horror makers to abandon their originality of their debuts for shitty remakes for the $$$
its also responsible for the success of the Scary Movie flicks which lead to the last couple of Wayans flicks and trash like Date Movie,Epic Movie.
and thats Screams legacy
the return of the feeble sight gag flick and a pile of forgetable remakes in blockbuster
and Little Man
Janitor Joe
Scream is a classic. Hipsters just like to pretend its not and name drop horror movies that not a lot of people have seen because they think it makes them more sophisticated.
vintageSW77
that happens with all genres not just horror
best thing about Scream???
Rose McGowanns nipples
Lord Shadow Z
It had some disturbing elements to it and was quite scary but it really lost any credibility once Scary Movie took the piss out of all of the teen-slashers in one go.
Minzku
well, ofcourse because Scream movies are so well made they are very entertaining to watch but I don't know about the level of horror, it's more like a comedy about horror movies so it's not scary enough!
Micheal_Myers
Its a classic, I just didnt really find myself enjoying it.
zombieman
While it may not be a great movie, I will admit it is an important movie as it rekindled people's interest in the horror genre. Without Scream, the slasher genre would be dead.

I wouldn't go that farconfused

I seen alot more black and white movies that are more of a classic then scream is!jm
2D_MASTER
Scream was'nt new thing new. It was a slasher movie, a big budget slasher movie. Now I didnt like
2D_MASTER
Scream wasnt anything new. I didn't think much of Scream, I thought it was Wes Cravens worse film. I mean Wes even made fun of himself in "Jay and Silent Bob strike back", in concern to the blatant comercial purpose of the Scream francise. Scream was made for the masses, people who think highly of it probably arent into horror films all that much., because there are plenty of horror fims that blow it out of the water, like TCSM 1 and Halloween 1. Scream DID get the mainstream back into slasher films, but that WASNT a good thing.
ADarksideJedi
Not close to being a classic like NOrman Bates movie!jm
Impediment
Scream is a classic example of satire. Craven really outdid himself and wrote an original and fresh script that made people afraid to answer the phone and made them laugh, as well.
I do think, however, that Scream is semi-overrated and that Craven let the success go to his head a little.
The sequels were horrible, IMO.
