I think the general increase of violence in India and many other normally peaceful areas in the region (UAE for instance) represents a very negative trend.

Pakistan itself is facing threats of terrorist attacks from its western province Waziristan (SP?) since it has recently passed legislation forbidding certain practices that are supported by fundamentalist Islamists. In the most recent case I believe it was the right for women to not be sold off into arranged marriages.

I care about India

Everybody cares about India...

After they saw a movie about Ghandi, after that the country is in a distant place with little influence in our lives and people tend to forget...

When India and Pakistan split in 1947 (partition) it was agreed that afterwards the then-Indian state of Kashmir would be granted the right to vote on whether it wanted to be part of India, part of Pakistan or its own independent country.

What you would want us to say then? That the splitting of India and Pakistan was a mistake? It was the only option the two party's had... The split was messy the people didn't like it and yet it was the only option they had.

If even somebody like Ghandi couldn't create peace and keep the country together very few others could.

Never said it wasn't tragic but people generally do not care about those who are not in their circle. It's not that I do not care, but I can't cry for every crime committed that I find about in history, in today's wars, or on the local news just as I am sure you do not.
