Has anyone seen this?
I've seen bits and pieces
from what I've seen the movie looks like a dark comedy...
I watched a couple seens, Christian Bale looks brilliant as usual.

is it worth renting and watching all the way through?

ragesRemorse
yes.

This is some lazy shit though, i mean i understand people asking whether or not if a movie that they know nothing about is worth watching or not, but youve seen some of it. If you cant decide for yourself, thats pretty bad.

SnakeEyes
One of my favorite movies.

It's not a dark comedy, although bits are humorous. It's a satire on 80's yuppy culture.

Surprised there wasn't already a thread.

Solo
There are a few enjoyable moments, but altogether it's pretty mediocre.

SpaceMonkey
It's a very good movie. Bale and Jared Leto are very good in their scenes together. I like his whole "I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy" monologue.

Impediment
A kickass movie. Very intelligent and demented.

Paul: do you have a dog or something, a litte chow? hahaha
Bateman: No, paul.
Paul: is that a raincoat?
bateman: Yes it is!

I also love when he does that little dance, and he says "hip to be square" and then picks up the axe

"Hey Paul!"
"AHHHHHHH"

I love IT!

Yeah. I actually put the book down at some points to take a deep breath. The movie isn't anywhere near what Bret Easton Ellis can get your mind to conjure up.

Good movie though.

I read the book as well and it's probably the most graphic book I have ever read.

I read Stephen King all the time so I'm used to graphic descriptions but Ellis blew my mind.

Yeah, I'd call Ellis depraved but he's a writer and it's his job to be creative. Personally my favorite novel of his is The Rules of Attraction which turned out to be a kind of crappy movie.

I agree, Rules of Attraction sucked.

I had never read Ellis before I read American Psycho though, I wasn't sickened by what he wrote, I was just like "Wow..." after reading some of the stuff in Psycho.

Excellent book though. thumb up

jaden101
i thought rules of attraction was reasonable but suffered from really bad casting. not one person in it was convincing

less than zero was a reasonable attempt at a ellis film though

and i seriously hope someone makes lunar park cause the last few chapters are phenomenal

LoneUnknown
I love American Psycho. It made me become a fan of Christian Bale. I love, "There is a moment of sheer panic when I realise Pauls apartment overlooks the park... and is obviously more expensive than mine." I think I'll try and get hold of the book.

BackFire
I just watched American Psycho last night. Really good movie. Hilarious stuff.

Rules of Attraction...yeah, it's a pile of shit.

Another great line is;

"Marcus and I even go to the same barber, although I have a slightly better haircut."

laughing out loud

RedAlertv2
After reading this thread I might have to check out some of Ellis' other writing

intelegent purp
my favourite scene is where bale looks at the cash machine and on the screen it says feed me the cat.
