I'm only asking about Marvel because the answer is pretty clear in DC: Superman.

Whose death in Marvel (not including Captain America) would have the most far-reaching and long-lasting repercussions?

I'm gonna go with a wild card. Dr. Doom, dying as a hero, saving the world. Now that would be impactful. yes

hmm not sure.

depends such as if there was a group going around killing people and hero's if some one like woverine died that would be a huge impact. He known for being tough to take down due to the healing factor and the lifes he has lived. That would likly scare a lot of hero's and people. It also impact the mutant community and many mutants that hold and did hold government jobs sich as nick fury and mrs marvel.

Plot device won't allow it.

Anyway... Sentry dying right now, would probably leave a lot of people in shock.

But comic characters (even the smart ones) don't catch on to that. So writers would have to change the character's actions to show how each had been impacted by the death.

I can't see Wolvie or Ben's death having an incredibly far reaching effect. The others make sense though.

As for Wolvie, I can, because Marvel would have every issue of every comic they produce center on his death until they can pull their reincarnation thing and have him come back as a black guy so they don't have to make him lose to Storm and her pimp.

Definitely Spiderman. I mean in the real world it would be such a blow to marvel. As for the comics it could be tremendous if they did it in aways where he sacrificed himself totally for the greatest good, in front of the whole world and asked nothing in return.

I'd love to see the look on Jonah's face if that happened.

Last time he said that was going to happen he just decided to shit all over Spidey and the NewAvengers.

NoFate007
In reality? Spider-Man

In the comics? Hm...I would've said Cap, but it doesn't seem to be having a big enough response. I guess logically it would be someone like The Living Tribunal, Galactus, or TOAA...but that's not a fun answer, lol. Stark would be a good choice. Nick Fury might be in the running. Spider-Man might even be for this one too, considering everyone knows he's a young man now.

I mean yea I can see where they'd have a case but they DID pay for pictures of Spiderman and the IS EXACTLY what Peter gave them. I really don't thing there was any kind of clause specifying that he couldn't take pictures of Spiderman if he in fact was Spiderman. wink

StarsNeverFall7
Getting paid for taking pictures of yourself. Talk about a guarenteed job...

llagrok
I'm guessing Spidey or the Hulk

pr1983
Financially, logan or spidey... if any of them died, sales would plummet dramatically...

in terms of the characters in the universe... i dunno... spidey would be one, as i think entity said, doing the whole hero thing and making j.j take everything back...

stark... someone takes down the head of shield, shit hits the fan, big time...

Both. Moreso in the real world though.

Spiderman is as close to Superman and Batman in terms of iconic characters. Hes Marvels "Man" imo.

In the comic world, hes one of the most recognized(next to Captain America) and probably has the biggest fan base (in the comic world). Spiderman has the most team-ups in Marvel history.

Gont get me wrong. Its always an honor to team with Cap because of his leadership and experience, but it almost seems as if everyone HAS to have Spidey on their team at least once.

Edit: When i mentioned Hulk i was mainly talking about in the real world sense. Hulk has few close friends in Marvel and same goes for Banner. Marvel as a company wouldnt be the same without him though.

Just my opinions.

Marvel doesnt have a key stone character like superman. Any major hero would make as much impact as another. By major I mean the top 5 in popularity

Entity
-Wolverine decides someone has to die for the greater good no matter what.

-Spiderman is the only hero around and decides the has to stop him from killing no matter what.

-They fight the most epic battle in Marvel history ending with their almost simultaneous deaths.

That death would impact Marvel far beyond anything else!
Anyone think they can top it?
