Rumors are stirring that "Lost" star Josh Holloway has been approached for the role of Gambit for X-Men 4.

In an interview with TV Hits Magazine Holloway talked about being offered the role. "We had a meeting and they wanted me to play Gambit, the card dealer character, they thought I’d be perfect for the part. We’ll see."

Gambit is a mutant that uses kinetic energy to charge up objects and make them explode.

Holloway also said: “I would love to play a superhero. I’d love to wear a cape and tights!”

He plays a Gambit-like character on Lost. He'd be good for it.

Darth Vicious
He'll be great for it. Not for Rogue tough, too old for her. Maybe for Storm or maybe a storyline with the thieves guild.

gls
he was approached for the role for x3 as well. (my first post in almost 11 months)

Syren
I thought this was quite good big grin

I think he's perfect, Remy's always been one of my fave characters smile

Flavio
Josh is too old...

Not that I want a love story with Rogue, but at least one or two quick scenes of flirting is essential...and I don't see Josh and Anna. Maybe an actor in his late twenties or early thirties...

Mana4X2
I am in total agreement that Josh is perfect for Gambit, although, I do agree with Flavio that he is way to old for anything to happen between him and Anna.

And wow, Syren, that Visual Guide is AWESOME! eek!

Here are some images of Josh photoshopped to look like Gambit:

One of Rogue's little quirks is her attraction t younger men, so I don't see this guy's age as a major deterent.

There's always the option of going with a french actor though. i.e. Olivier Martinez. He's a little older, but has a stronger profile than our Mr. Halloway.

Great pictures.

I can see him in the role

What about some closer to Rouges age for the role of Gambit and also have Laurence Fishbourne for Bishop and someone to play Forge.

Am I missing something here? Isn't Rogue with Iceman in the movies? Gambit doesn't have to be with Rogue, he can be involved in many different ways.

Genosha
Rogue's longtime love from the comics has been Gambit. Pretty much scince forever. It's the whole 'I love you, but I can never have you, so you might as well look somewhere else/F_ it I don't care if banging you get's me dead' kind of thing.
The only other major affair she's had is Magneto. Unless things have changed recently, she's never had a thing with Iceman to my knowlege. That one was just for the kiddies.
Obviously they went with an age difference approaching great granpa with Mags, so that angle would have offended even me in the movies.

Arachnid1
He would be PERFECT!!!

Exactly. They've taken a whole different route with Rogue's romances, so Holloway could come in as an older Gambit and maybe even have something going on with Storm.

No way man, here's why:

Rogue and Gambit are a necessary combo, because they define sexual tension. Gambit is an extremely sensual character. S'why I don't like Halloway, he attractive, but Gambit is more than a good looking guy. He's dripping with distilled sex. The dark and sultry kind. The kind that slithers up your skirt with a twitch of his brow from across the room. The kind that stalks and creeps into the dark and sultry parts of you on the heels of the smooth velvet of his voice; cloves and chocolate with a little kick of cayenne. The kind that tickles your brain with that masculine scent that's his alone. Leather and whiskey, tobacco and swamp, the oh-so-faint tang of burnt plastic to remind you he's more than human, and maybe just a hint of some girl's perfume to remind he's not that much more. The kind that steals your breath as his mouth hovers near yours...No, not like that. Closer. You feel the heat of his lips, his flavor, coffee and zydeco skitters across your tongue...

But you can't taste him. Those hands, and they're good hands, can't roam where they want so his fingers dig into your spandex clad hips a little harder than he means to. And, even though he is what he is so completely that he would willingly give his life for that one kiss and be content in the knowledge that he would still be inside of you in some way, if not the best way, you have to step away. Because you're not willing to take something so beautiful from the world. Because you're not strong enough to be him while being without him. Because, stupid as it is, as long as it's been, you still have hope. Maybe someday. If I'm patient enough and good enough and need it enough... You still believe in a loving God even though it gets a little harder every day.

...Did I have a point? Oh yeah, Remy and Rogue are a nobrainer. They're epic. And Joshy boy just doesn't...slither for me.

Now Gambit is my favorite X-Men character and all, but DAMN!!!! You sound like you want to marry the guy no expression

Genosha
Nah, I got a thing for Pete Wisdom. I like the hard-boiled detective type, and he's got a little of the mutt in him. Cops and strays two of my favorite things. big grin And he's a brit to boot. Few things in this world sexier than that fusion of something so American with something so British...its almost Oedipal.

Genosha
Wait a minute..marriage? did I just traumatize some little kid? I'm sorry. Women aren't that scarry, really. I just like words. See. words words words. Don't mean nothing.

I'm going to hell aren't I?

I'm not a little kid. I am 19 years old no expression

CoolCool. I was scared for a second there. Visions of being banished from my only contact with comic geeks.

I'm 29 and my daughter just turned 2. I said Happy Birthday over the phone and she said Hi about 12 times. But, I'm so not bitter. I think you know why.

Ordained
Umm..... no expression

Enlighten me.

Genosha
Uh...Dude... my Sig. smile It's kind of a joke here. Something crappy happens. Like, Idon't know, Uniform 3 for lunch. That's ok, we've got david Beckham. CO's a nazi spy? At least we have david beckham. Oh, we're supposed to pack up all of our stuff and live out of rucks for two months for no other reason than some f_er who doens't have to follow his own rules can put another check on his list... take a deep breath and let it out slowly, and here take this picture of david beckam and call me in the morning if there's no sign of improvement.

Firstly, woah.

Secondly, I know what goes on between the two, but Rogue in the movies is not Rogue from the comics.

Genosha
I'm going to assume that's a compliment...So Thanks. big grin

She's not the same character true, but the dynamic would be similar. She still has the same kind of longing for normal human interaction that drives the romance. And he's still Gambit. Sure he could have a fling with anybody, but he's drawn to Rogue because she's resistant and unatainable. And like anything that you have to work hard to get, there's an underlying belief that it's worth more.

I'm not saying Rogue is or isn't worth it, and I'm not even saying that their romance would crumble if sex were an option...nah this probably isn't the place...I just mean that the two states create a self-feeding...thingy...can't..think..of ...word...arghh.

Anyway, it's powerful shit man. So, if you're looking for a romance that has the pop and the kick...It's a logical choice.

She's still reeeeeaaaaaaaally hot.

Genosha
Really? I thought movie Rogue fell a little...no, WAY flat. The girl is cute enough and all, but Rogue usually has more sass. She was too mopey in the movies to be very engaging.

I'm not sure, I just don't find her attractive. I don't think it's e-standards either, she's not really known as a beauty.

I definitely get where you're coming from, when you put it like that - excellently worded yes

As for Anna Paquin, that pissed me off. I really like her as an actress but she is not Rogue. Not the Rogue I envision, anyway. You know how Gambit oozes sex? Well, to my mind so does Rogue. Paquin doesn't.

Genosha
Agreed, on the Rogue thing, and I fear the swooning teen vote out weighs mine as far as choice for an actor for Gambit in a movie that is probably never going to be made.

I feel guilty complaining about casting choices for a comic movie, it's a tall order balancing ability with the right look, and fitting characters into a story that plays in a two hour movie.

On the other hand I'm a little insulted that writers were so convinced that the public couldn't handle characters as they were written and had to make substantial changes to their personalities in order to feel comfortable with their marketability....is that a word? Anyway you know what I mean.
