Tyvokka vs. Darth Maul

Both in their primes. Tyvokka is the huge, wise and powerful Wookiee Jedi Master who trained Plo Koon. He sits on the Council.

I personally am not sure. Maul killed the Jedi who was considered the order's finest swordsman (Anoon Bondara). Bondara was also said to be one of the greatest warriors in the Jedi Order, however, Tyvokka is likely one of the greatest as well. According to Wookieepedia (which, I know, isn't 100% canon 100% of the time) says that Tyvokka is "of legendary status". He was one of the most respected members of the Jedi Order and was the lead Jedi during the Stark Hyperspace Wars. So I'm uncertain, but I'm leaning towards Maul.

Thoughts?

Gideon
This thread is a bit comical; you pit Darth Maul - "one of the deadliest Sith apprentices in history", a warrior who annihilated Qui-Gon Jinn and Anoon Bondara (who is cited as one of the finest swordsmen in the Order) - against Tyvokka, a Council member who is "likely" one of the greatest as well... but who is never mentioned as an uberpowerful Jedi.

I'd say this is a no-brainer, but that would be an insult to the mentally challenged - that's how bad the premise of this thread is.

Darth_Glentract
How is anyone supposed to make an argument for Tyvokka? He's about as well know as Simus.

darthsith19
Gideon, how is this a no brainer? Who wins, then? It's not that bad of a thread, I'm not even sure who wins, this is actually quite a close battle, a no brainer is like Bultar Swan vs. ANH Vader or ROTS Yoda vs. NJO Luke, not this.

A lot more of a known than Simus is, actually, Simus we know next to nothing about, it could say something about him in The New Essential Chronology and he does do stuff in The Stark Hyperspace Wars comic. Look here:
http://swtimeline.ru/?comics=27&page=025
http://swtimeline.ru/?comics=27&page=026
He is being held at gunpoint by leading members of the Stark Army, these aren't just common thugs but pirates, bounty hunters and assassins.

Here he uses the Force to make the table explode, which takes out several of the starks, and only dies by friendly fire - Nute Gunray accidentally tells his personal security droids to kill them all, and their first target is Tyvokka.

Here Plo calls Tyvokka a "very powerful Jedi" and the powerful part is even bold. By these things I would definitely call Tyvokka one of the strongest Jedi of his era.

Darth_Glentract
Even if he is one of the strongest Jedi of his era, so what? The same could be said for Qui-gon and Anoon Bondara. Being the best of an era is very broad as well. Look at the difference between Qui-gon and Yoda even though they are both among the best of their time.

Side note: I don't see NJO Luke against Yoda as being a no brainer necessarily. I'd actually give Yoda a fair chance against Luke in a one on one.

It's quite simple, actually. There's not enough evidence to make a viable case for Tyvokka winning, inasmuch as the little he has done doesn't even come close to ranking him on par with (or close to, rather) someone of Maul's caliber.

As if he didn't make it clear enough, Darth Maul. That's the only logical choice, sorry, but the "Wonder Wookie" doesn't win.

EDIT:

And of course, I'm saying that as it stands now, Tyvokka doesn't compare, ergo Maul is the assumed superior by default (since some people like to jump on my ass when there's an near unknown involved).

A Dose Of Vraya
I would say that tyvokka has wookie rage but I guess he can't since hes a jedi, therefore, he's just big and slow; mincemeat for the doubleblade big grin

I actually made a Tyvokka vs. Vader thread a while back and people actually thought that it was close, check it out:

You made that thread over a year ago (in a time where people were extremely uninformed, overestimated and underestimated characters, etc.), and only two users responded, none of which had any valid points whatsoever (save for the strength remark). Using only what we've seen, and what can be inferred, Darth Vader would whoop that trick.

Can't take anyone seriously who types "pwn".

Maul wins here.

That wookie could not even come close to Vader in any way possible.

Riverollv
Again, Maul takes this. Simple facts go in Maul's favour.

Count Makashi
Maul pwns here, he is just so much better then his opponent.

Sith Dude
As much as I love the wookies (coolest species in star wars lol), Maul is a master of the Juyo lightsaber form, and it is the ultimate form for quickly overwelming your opponent. Also Maul uses a double bladed lightsaber which when mastered can also quickly overwelm an opponent. Bottum line, Maul would quickly overpower the wookie.
