If your going by who's created to most high-tech devices, Prof X/Magneto with Cerebro is up there.

Intelligence has different forms. Some of the lists are better for science, inventing, etc. Some of them are better for tactical stuff, quick decisions, dealing with people's emotions and reactions, take adventage of the surroundings and field experience.

In a fight, with prep time or not, not necessarily the scientific masterminds, would have the upperhand.

Who's smarter Mozart or Newton? A militar tachtician who won the war in the Pacific Ocean during the WW or the inventor of TV?
Most likely all of them have similar IQ's.

In comics, of course some of the thing done by the people in the list, is just ridiculous.(cough Doom, cough...)

TricksterPriest
Please, Lex Luthor made a time machine out of an orange, a paper tube and some aluminum. Pre-Crisis pseudo science ftw! w00tw00t

In comics, of course some of the thing done by the people in the list, is just ridiculous.(cough Doom, cough...) You're confusing smarts and intelligence, with knowledge and learned skills. You can't get "smart": since, after all, it's your aptitude to learning that designates how smart you are.

Hitman911
So what is "Smart"??
Is it the biggest weapon of destruction or a utility belt.
If Batman were to create a utility belt for Superman or Spiderman, it would instantly put them on anouther level.

you forget that in that scan Lex is clearly saying that he got the know-how from a scientifically advanced Alien.

Lex doesn't belong in this league, he's lower down the scale.

imo, Doom is above the rest. done enough impossible feats. can traverse time because of technology he invented, steals powers from gods and demi-gods ... what more does a +mortal+ need to do, to prove that his mind is preeminent?

It is not about the utility belt. roll eyes (sarcastic) It is about the one using it. He knows what to carry around in it, and certainly knows how and when to use all the stuff.

Kid Omega should be on the list

Symmetric Chaos
Metron is at the top . . . beyond that meh.

No where because they don't rank anywhere near the guys on the list.

complexbrother
charaters like Batman is excelent in figuring out things (dective), Warlock is an unpareled tatical genius, Iron Man is a inventive genius, Superman 1M has the abiltiy to process info the fastest, but in terms of pure amassed intellegence and overall intellegence the winners would be either Thanos, or Metron, or Reed Richards .

janus77
why not Doom?
he's the most impressive character in comicdom, given that he's essentially all brains.

the mystic arts are a learned skill, the tech is a creative application of his genius, the stealing of cosmic and godly powers is the ultimate in tactical/strategic genius.

what more can be asked of him? oh and he's pretty much loved by his people.

llagrok
Kid Omega's smarter.

There are many different types of intelligence. You need to be more specific about what you are looking for.

Also..I'm surprised you left out the Atom.

Symmetric Chaos
Why is Xavier on the list?

Priest
Thanos has the most "overall" smarts

Tenebrous
if you're including metron you have to include Galactus.

Reed has admitted that Galactus has tech that is so complex, he can't understand the basic workings of some of Galactus' constructs.

Taa II also deserves mention if you're going to discuss inventions/constructs.

not to mention cosmic awareness allows him to gather vast knowledge.

You'd think he would be able to lose some weight if he's that smart.

Superherovandal
Metron...or if you were to include him Lucifer who is so farr above everyone on this list its not even funny.

strengthkills
what about banner? not lookin 4 an argument simply an answer hes worked with richards countless times as well as stark and how bout leader/samson........and me?

Strengthkills bringing Banner into this discussion. Surprise smile

KidOmega >> Banner+Leader+Samson

can somebody put up some feats for Omega Kid and Metron. really not aware of what these characters have done that makes them contenders of such a high order?

Kid Omega designed a small "jar" which allows Martha to live in. Martha is nothing but a brain.

He also thinks over a thousand brilliant thoughts a second.

janus77
that's not really all that impressive. every "mad scientist" has a brain in a jar, it's standard equipment.

what's he done on a grandscale?

as regards the 'thousand brilliant thoughts'... that sounds like the Sentry's "million exploding suns", fine and nice but what does that mean in practise.

could those thousand brilliant thoughts amount to something more impressive than however many brilliant thoughts Reed or Doom has?

He can't really do anything, seeing as he's dead. He did reconstruct a dead body using telekinesis though, I guess that's a pretty nice "human anatomy" feat.

But you're not required to do anything on a grand scale, it doesn't work like that at all. Amadeus Cho doesn't have any insane feats, yet he's still very intelligent. Over a thousand brilliant thoughts a second, means that he does think over a thousand brilliant thoughts a second. No one can compare to that.

Both Xavier and Emma stated that their minds weren't even comparable to Kid Omega's.

Being a C-character doesn't mean he's any less intelligent than Reed, it means that the writers didn't like him too much.
