Yes they can tell that you smoke even if it is only a few a day, it stains your teeth and eats away at the enamel as well as receding your gums. My wife's sister is a dental hygienists and she see it all the time.

heh i started because my brother taught me. i still smoke because i get angry really easy so when i light a smoke up it calms me down. i do however godda go from 3 pacs a day down to one.

Ditto, I was almost 12 and now I'm 22. I just tried to register with a new dentist today but it was really difficult as I haven't seen a dentist in years. I know regular checkups are important but I sorta had a few years off the rails... regardless, I'm starting to get ever such a teeny tiny mark on my teeth, at the front, which I'm sure is the beginnings of a TOBACCO STAIN shock

Just brush your teeth twice a day and you'll be fine.
