Cable vs. Wireless

Any opinions?

I can't say I know anything about internet connections, and now I find myself moving from cable internet to a wireless soon, and I'm afraid of the sluggish connection that is associated with wireless.

Is it just as fast, or indeterminable until I actually start using it? confused1

I haven't had Wireless at my house but my high school had it my senior year, it was horrible. You would constantly lose connection and sometimes not be able to connect at all. It was fast when it worked but half the time it never worked.

That's not to say that is going to happen to you but that was my experience with wireless internet.

Can you get maybe DSL and forget about wireless?

Eh, the computers at work run on wireless, and it's not too bad, but it's probably a souped up system compared to the average home thing since the building is huge srug I have cable and it works fine for me.

I just think that cables are racist. 😬

I have a cable connection at home, and it's great.

My crappy PC is on a wireless connection. It goes just as fast as the wired computers in the house download wise. The negative is that my router is faulty and I need to do a force reset on it at least once a day because it loses signal. So if you go wireless, don't get the Lynksys WRT54G wireless router.

I have just got Wireless and it is just as good as the cable I had before.

I have no idea how fast normal cable is...
I use adsl 2 which is faster.
wireless is handy to move around, but i don't use it so i wouldn't know how fast that is.
but nothing beats optic fibre for speed. droolio

high speed wireless here.

I have cable and wireless with my home network, I like the wireless but hate that it drops the connection from time to time but I don't like having the cord run upstairs.

There's wireless at my school, and it works just as well as normal. Even when there's like 30 computers to one server. It's only crap for those who can't work it.

If you mean for the computer then Cable connection is better.Where I work you can log on using wireless.JM

I've got wireless, it's not horrible but if you're trying to download something it'll cut off every 20 minutes or so, but it comes back after a few seconds. Mines fairly sluggish but I think it's due to having so much crap on it.
