im sure some people might have heard about it. the red mosque is a mosque in the heart of islamabad, the capital city. since 2006 it had defiantly challenged the government of pakistan. first by kidnapping 4 policemen, beating them up and letting them go. then 4 chinese missuises who worked in a massage parlour and were blamed for giving sexual favour. they were kidnapped by the women pupils of the mosque, beaten up, and ordered to leave town. the mosques students had destroyed many dvd shops said to own pornographic material. and had set up a shariah court inside the mosque and a police force to judge people in the surrounding sectors islamic wise outside the jurisdiction of the pakistani courts/government, saying that god's authority was greater than theirs. because of this the huge mosque also forcibly occupied a children's library to SPREAD their premises and have done so uptil now. there were some tense standoffs before between government forces and the barracaded mullahs inside. but all hell broke lose at 12 yestreday. as the rangers started gathering outside the mosgue. the students opened fired. killing one. in retalliation tear gas/bullets were fired. huge crowds gathered, and long story short, by the end of yestreday. 20 were confirmed dead{5 news reporters}. and over 400 seriously wounded. because of the stobborness of the extremist clerics and stupidity of bush's lapdog parvez musharraf. two large buildings had been completely burnt down.

im worried baout this basically, cause i live about only 400 METRES away form the fn place. already nearly cuffocated to death{along with my cat} as a poisen laden canister of tear gas was fired into my house. plus, nearly lost all waindows and my roof in two HUGE explosions today which might have been suicide in nature. plus, political rangers and islamic deathsquad like people are roaming the streats continuously firing {among what ive seen right now} tear gas, aks, m-16s, heavy machine guns, and RPGS! all taken from INSIDE the mosque{which is also an islamic university} not to mention bullet proof vests, nightvission, and gas masks. all inside my tine little street! and the clerics say they have over 5000 people, armed inside the mosque{they have footage} among which are over a 100 suicide bombers, and he can call on a lot more. demands, "well destroy this country unless a shariah government is brought in". my throat and facial skin still burns from the gas and these idiots are actually having fun continuously firing bullets{its 3 at night here btw} and taking advantage of the fact that its an election year here after sever political unrest.

i havent been out since then and well, theyve sorta isolated/cut off all sectors surrounding the mosque, including mine, so i cnat go anywhere either. love to hear your views on this. or any advice stick out tongue stick out tongue . cause the tension here literally is like a bomb ready to go off, between the two forces.

Evacuate the area of civilians (which they have probably done already?), bomb the mosque to the ground, salt the earth.

chillmeistergen
****ing hell mate, that's pretty scary stuff.

Crimson Phoenix
OMG!! As if a mosk would go that far!!! Isnt there another safer area you could go to temporarily till the shit dies down? like a relatives or somthing?

leonheartmm
nope, theyve got the whole area shut down, the mosque mullahs i mean. and the government here cudnt give less of a shit. its an election year and the hypocrites wanna appear good to the muslim country. they NEVER evacuate places, even in earthquakes. corrupt money eating bastards, cant be bothered really. and btw, it was the GOVERNMENT/military rangers who gunned down the reporters. and the ones who shot the gas cannister in my house{i actually have it in my hand now,}.

leonheartmm
damn cant sleep. too much noise.

Fishy
They should just bomb the Mosque to the ground, I'd imagine that they have an air force and the Mosque people probably don't have anti air

leonheartmm
FN HELL!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS NEARLY 4 IN THE GOD DAMN MORNING AND I WAS "SHAKEN" UP BY NEARLY 20 ABSOLUTELY "MASSIVE" EXPLOSIONS. looks like the ground under my feat will never stop moving. smoke everywhere{still continuing} plus gunfire's started.

they have cobra gunships and heavy APCs deplyed. but this is a muslim country. and an election year. destroying a mosque is equal to blasphemy and its actually called MARTYRING a mosque. people would skin them alive if they did this{although from the sound of things, they might have started now}. and no, the mosque does have FBI shotguns. m-16s. grenade launchers, aks, gas masks, nightvision goggles, bullet proof vest, and RPGs. so some decent anti air capabilities in urban warfare.

Religions suck...

So why would bombing it be blasphemy, but fighting the people in it and obviously damaging it in urban fights not be considered the same?

But hey look on the bright side apparently Aziz whoever that may be was captured and 1200 people surrendered... That can't be bad.

Your in dangerous situation imo.

Either record it and make some money by selling the coverage to the news channels, or get out of the area for a while.

Your life is more valuable than any religious or political movement after all your a KMC member.

muslimscholar

If that was a question to everyone and not just the creator... obviously (by default) the Islamic-extremist weren't "right".

I think there's a lot more to the story then just "Islamic Extremists", the government is pretty ****ed up. There is more to this story then what the general medias reporting. For example, the soldiers were told to fire any reporter or anyone with a camera on sight. Also from what else I hear, the Mosque did not have all those weapons that the soldier claims, the third thing is that the death count is a lot higher then reports say. I am from around that area, and I have a lot of relatives in that area, well I was born there and after speaking on the phone with people who live around there, I have realized the whole situation is not so black and white as just islamic extremists getting what they deserve.

plenty of video from the Lal Masjid on YouTube. After the video embeded on this page there are many others that are available in the screen (the same way youtube videos always link to stuff).

You don't see any army members, but certainly doesn't seem like the place has been quaranteened off from the media, or at the very least citizens with cameras.

Doesn't matter religious extremists are still wrong by default. Of course they had a reason, everybody always has a reason for doing stuff. Them having a reason or even a good reason doesn't automatically justify their actions though.

sigh, after like 8 days. 1800 students{aged 4 up male and female} dead. 60 army rangers dead. upwards of a couple of hundred thousand shots fired. range of innocent casualties in a 7 mile radius. cobra gunships used. heavy mortars, rocket pods, gatling guns, tanks, apcs, the hwole lot. they killed the imaam. my house's windows are broken. curfew stil on. the place smells and sounds like death. over 20 camera crew dead also including reporters. government's trying to hide the civilian casualties again. claiming no more than 20 CIVILIANS DIED IN THE 8 DAYS!!!!!! FN RIDICULOUS!!!! ofcourse this is the number that will be given out and quoted in the manipulative western media. darn i hate these bastards. backlash already begun. over 6 suicide attacks against the army. tried to shoot musharraf's plane down. another mosque in nnorthern areas started defyin with a whole north west frontier province with them. unrest, protests, more blastas in katrachi, heightened police/army at every corner. actually, two young girls from the madrissa as sudents were called on tv and literally cried their lungs out as a government spokesperson and minister denied any real deathtoll of their girlfriends claiming that theyr all home safely. while the students verified between sobs that they had burried them with their own hands and still had blood marks on their veils. it was almost heartbreaking. ive never been with madrissas or islam, but the massacre that the government has staged here, is nothing short of horrendous. the huge mosque complex is in ruins. it seems every day, im getting more n more weary of the state of humanity. i started opposing the pro extremist madrass, but now feal like womitting, seeing whats done to them and the innocent students there.

leonheartmm
sigh, and then they say i sound like a conspiracy theorist when i state this stuff. lmao. on the other hand, america and brittian are excessivley pleased with musharraf's tough stand on terrorism and gave deceptively supporting statements glorifying him officially, so the world at large may never know or inquire what happened here. hell all the reporters were killed by direct fire from the army rangers!!!!

inimalist
can you provide sources for any of those items?

I actually agree, y'know, that's the only way.

Or they could send in the army, but that's a waste of time.

Innocent students? Let's not over react here shall we. Of course there were people in that Mosque that weren't approving of what happened there, but everybody knows that the leaders of that Mosque have for a long time now tried to create their own law. From what I hear a lot of people are actually upset that the government didn't decide to act a hell of a lot sooner when all of this could have prevented.

If innocent people died by the hands of the government then that is hugely unfortunate but to blame only the government and say the Mosque leadership did not wrong is just plain idiotic.

leonheartmm
nope. the mosque's management did a LOT of wrong things. but nothing even approaching what the government did. they took this as an oppurtunity and SLAUGHTERED 1800 students who were mostly non combatants and over half were girls between 13 and 18. its not over reaction. you should have been here to see it.

inimalist
Ive seen some sources from the middle east (Al Araybia from UAE, I think its UAE) was saying that the death tolls were much higher than government reports, and there were instances of multiple bodies being stuffed into single coffins for burial.

From what I've seen it was probably a blood bath, 1800 seems a little high for me, but half that seems reasonable.

But honestly, the members who fought the government deserved what they got. Like the school in Russia a few years ago, once people take hold of a building like this with hostages, there is almost nothing to be done that can make this situation "better". Tragic as it is, the government wasn't the one holding them in there with AK47s and RPGs

The Grey Fox
It's stupid. All of it caused by ****ing stupid religion.

Well my sources are limited and I wasn't there, but like inimalist said, it was still them that picked up the guns and held people in there. The government had to make a choice, that they didn't make the best one or that they didn't handle it perfectly is of course bad. But it still wasn't the government that picked up arms first.

Ushgarak
The death toll isn't going to be anything like 1800 and nor has there been the wholesale slaughter of children he talks of. Leon is speaking with emotion but no rationality.
