Description: Think Hawkgirl, but no mace. Swift is the least powerful of the Authority, but has some high-level senses and tracking skills, and durability that is certainly above human level.

An alien "spaceship" was AFAIR an alternate reality Cansas City, not an alternate reality Tokio...just a small correction.

Also notice that Jack's own fighting style is based on high kicks to thake the most advantage of those soles, that amplify the force of kick. That's a good example of metahuman fighter using his own unorthodoxal fighting style to take advantage of his metahuman traits.

And...that's just some female thoughts, but...Jack looks much more better shaved, than unshaven (in Stormwatch scans he badly needs a shave).

Yeah, he was more of a street rat back then....not the leader of the Authority that he'd one day become.

Charlotte DeBel
Oh, and you've posted the scan with speedster twice.

And I just thought that the infamous girl in Stormwatch wasn't too scared of Jack's "deformed" thing (after all, Angie and anyone Jack has sexed up after that don't seem to bother with it so either it wasn't too horrible or he did some corrective surgery after that to remove that defect), but it was the unshaven face that shoked her so much(I don't blame her for that).
And by the way, young (18years old) Jack was rather handsome (as we cand see from the "Street Life" issue in the second volume of Authority).

DigiMark007

I think the forum now has a Hawksmoor fanboy (or fangirl, as it is).

Jack Harkness
They are one badass team.

They can't compare the the greats of Wildstorm. Wildcats. cool

I can't believe what that bastard Apollo did to Grifter!! mad

Charlotte DeBel
Well, I'm far from real fanboy. I'm much more fanboyish about Emma, K' or Dante (as you can see at Games vs and Comics vs forums). A fan, maybesmile

It's known fact. He survives well on Carrier as well, that's not a showing. There was stated that the underground complex was city-sized, just like Carrier.

Though...Jack can fight at a desent level at least for a short while in the area close enough to the big settlements but still outside of them (I've posted the scan from Authority\Planetary crossover in the old Authority RT but it wasn't taken there).

Jack destroys some robots. It seems not impressive if not for the fact that the fight is neither directly in big city (though close to setllement enough for Jack not to faint completely) nor on the board of the Carrier.

Especially taking into account that it's neither urban environment nor pseudo-urban place like Carrier or city-sized underground base...which means that Jack is weakened in those scans.

Charlotte DeBel
Also one of my favourite things (Jack powering up by the energy he gets from the city and then ripping Regis apart) wasn't included by Digisad Though he posted a scan with pwning a speedster twice and hasn't corrected it yetsad

wink He kicks ass no matter what.

Charlotte DeBel
Though it's stated that being in complete wilderness (like in the middle of Amazon jungle or Sahara desert with not even a small settlement nearby) kills him in 15 minutes...to be more exact, 15 minutes is a deadline after which the damage caused to Jack's body is almost incurable.

TheSentry
You got to love the guy. laughing out loud

He's currently #4 in the list of my favourites. Though I like him very much. An original and interesting character...

Are his powers original? I don't remember seeing anyone with them. Well not right now anyway.

I know about the Carrier but I still felt it was worth mentioning. I was focusing on the jungle part of what Bendix said and somehow overlooked the "underground complex" part. Jack being able to treat a jungle like a city (if it was big enough) would be impressive, and that's what I was thinking.

Marvel has made a lame animeish ripoff of him recently. Veda of the Order team- a teenage girl with an oversized hammer. Though her urbanopathic abilities are weaker than Jack's and she has no superhuman physical treats, she doesn't have Jack's major weakness and is able to stay outside urban environments as long as she wishes.

Put Jack in the middle of Amazon rainforest or Siberian taiga and he'll be comatose after 15 minutes.

Charlotte DeBel
More about Jack...
Look at that one (Authority Annual 2000). Jack modestly calls that "some redecoration". He jumps to he epicentre of that fiery hell and then hijacks the whole thing.

And now to Hawksmoor. Apparently he has learned every major language in the world (and even not major but the ones that are spoken in the citites) via urbanopathy. He demonstrates that by understanding an exotic language perfectly well.

It's unknown whether the ability to insta-learn things via urbanopathy is limited only to languages or he can pick up other skills that way.

Good news. I'm planning another large-scale update to this thread.

My collection is pretty well comprehensive by now, though there's a few arcs that I missed on the last update, and a lot of their newer stuff hasn't been added (Authority Prime, the non-Cpt-Atom Armageddon stuff, MNer's solo series, etc.).

The plan is to wait until the upcoming Dreamwar crossover with DC in a couple months (which will be canon, btw, since it's the same company/multiverse) then add everything in at once. Charlotte will be helping me a little bit, and she's already been very helpful with additions to the thread (mainly Jack, but others too).

All said, it's looking to be around 100 new scans, give or take, to go with the 300 or so that are already posted.

Endrict Nuul
What about Jacks new solo run, are you going to add from that also?

He did that in Authority Prime 6, as well.

Making it three times, now?

Charlotte DeBel
BTW, Digi, I've got that issue (at least scans of it) on my cpu along with the last one of Authority Prime. In fact, I haven't heard that that mini was launched- shame for such a Hawksmoor expert.
In fact, in Russia and Belarus when it comes to Wildstorm comics (Marvel ones and some DC ones are published and translated in Russia) you have to download them from DC++- getting'em in paper is inconvinient in my country.

BTW, Authority Prime also kind of busted another Hawksmoor myth- supporting the scans from Planetary\Authority crossover and some other known facts related to him in pseudourban\non-urban environment. 15 minutes deadline exsists only in complete wilderness, close to settlements\in non urban sttlements the only thing that disappears along with urbanopathy is his healing factor (which is at Hulk\"boosted" Wolverine level or even better in big cities). There's going to be an analysis on that in mythbuster thread soon.

And as for feats I've posted- I posted a few facts along with feats (like the one of being able to speak almost any language in the world due to urbanopathy; I wonder whather he can learn other things rather than languages that way).
Also Jack can actually INCREASE his density- nicesmile And the construct feat and tidal wave one are repeated in his mini.

8urs
This was a good week for Jack.

Charlotte DeBel
Yes, pretty much. And I spell really bad in the morning- at least 3 spelling\lexical mistakes in one post.
But when the authors of Jack mini wanted to show off Jack's "every language of the world" thing, they showed that their Russian sucks ass compared even to my "sleepy" English. The last Jack's words in dialogue with a Kiev dweller should have sounded like "nyet slozhnostey"- no difficulties (or at least that's what I think since what the writer has Jack to say isn't actual Russian or Ukrainian language, and it's almost as undechypherable for me as Perun's words in that issue to Angie).
Also "he'll be fine" is "awn boojet v por'yadke" (keeping up with their transcription, though it makes second word sound a bit Polish- but it's normal since it happens in the Ukraine). Jack said "he'll be exact"- the word "totchn" means "exact". The conclusion- Jack maybe knows Russian (should know it due to powerset and the intention of writer), but the author of the mini doesn't.

Charlotte DeBel
Got some weird news- and bad ones for Jack.
Since the new Armageddon has officially started, apparently Earth cities are going to become "comatose", cutting Jack's urbanopathy off and leaving poor guy only with superhuman physical stats (strength-durability-agility) turning him into your regular boring brick who would at best be at mid-high meta level.
So his miniseries are pretty much the endsong of Jack we all know and love.

I only have to hope that evil Emma Frost in the end of Secret Invasion #1 is a Scrull fake, and some spoilers I've heard about KOF XII isn't going to turn out to be true....It would be bad news having so many of my favourite characters "shitified".

The storm watch team under Ellis was pretty uber, especially when Bendix was in charge. At one point or another they defeated a version of the Doctor, The Engineer, Apollo and Midnighter. I'm not sure about the current storm watch team, i only know that Battalion is the Weatherman again. When Sparks, Swift and Hawksmoore where ion storm watch they where a pretty competent team, in fact they where a lot more highly regarded than the Wildcats team written by Alan Moore no less.

As for the SW/Authority fight, I'm a fan of Stormwatch too (most of the Authority got their start there) and I thought it was written fairly well. Take Jenny and Doctor out of it (which they did), and SW had the numbers advantage (7 to 5) and a few fairly powerful people.

Also weird how whirly broke up Stormwatch into two lower case words in my quote.

Written comprehension and logic are not skills you are good at are they? Several ways would allow me to do this, msn from members on here, this actually works in relation to the comics section. The search.php? function works without being logged into this site. Digimark you will not be thanked by other mods if you continue this, we know how much time I can waste for you all . You will make more work for both them and yourself. I made a promise I have stuck to, since doing it. You are on strike two. In relation to spamming your thread, I am replying to an unfounded accusation on an open i.p. and yes, I do have a way to hide my i.p. even with Raz blocking proxies. I suspect Raz knows this also. Many things do not make people stupid, I do think you don't get told everything that goes on behind the scenes on this site.

Now... It's strike 2. What happens next is your choice. You can play ball or you can cause yourself problems. I will not be entering into a dialogue with you further or posting from this account again.

Turns out Dreamwar may not be canon, even though it's the same multiverse and presumably doesn't interfere with continuity (I guess it happens sometimes before the Final Crisis / Armageddon stuff going on in either universe right now).

Still, I'll post feats when I do the update, because if it's written well it can be used as a rough measuring stick anyway, regardless of its canonical value.

I thought it was canon for the WSU characters but not the DC ones. Is that not the case?

Not really sure. I've heard conflicting reports. I see no reason why it shouldn't be canon, but since it's not going to be continuous with current story arcs in either universe (it will happen during FC and Armageddon, respectively) they might call it non-canon.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Digi can you post the scan saying Doctor was immune to telepathy?

Charlotte DeBel
That's a bit incorrect as he was beaten by TP before (Authority v1 #14, I think), telepathy is an Achiless' heel of the Authority big guns. On the other hand, it was Doctor who has beaten the Godhead finally, so...it's doubtful.
On the other hand, Habib has stronger personality than Jeroen, so it can be stated that his degree of TP resistance is higher.

What fight was that where you mentioned him being beaten? I'd look it up, but digging up specific issues from my unorganized collection is a pain.

But like you said he beat the Godhead, who was a ridiculously powerful telepath, Jackson couldn't affect him, and he's talked to people in speech bubbles without speaking numerous times (and not the team's radiotelepathy). All point to at least competent tp skill and resistance.

The one after Krigshtein (spelling?) goons have taken baby Jenny- the part of brain responsible for giving the Doctor his powers was temporary shut off leaving him powerless for a while. But that was only one instance which can be a result of sucker punch as well...

Was that telepathic though? They never really established how they cut him off (unless I missed that part). Anyway, I'll probably go back and look sometime soon. Mungi wants the scan from the more recent fight and I'm dealing with a photoshop meltdown on my cpu so doing anything with scans is rough right now. So I'm a bit unorganized at the moment, but working towards getting everything together.

Charlotte DeBel
I'll try and browse mine one, seeing as you have problems- though I've also went through CPU problems recently, my Authority scans collection at least likes organised.

I re-downloaded gimp since my photoshop isn't working and got most of my stuff in order. I just have a lot of scanning to do now. But no worries about finding that instance. I'll dig it up at some point on my own, and I'm actually planning a "Mythbuster" post soon to survey Doctor's good and bad tp showings to make some sense of it.

Got a lot done today toward the update. My thanks again to Charlotte for the scans she sent me (mainly of Jack, but a few others too). I have about 85 scans ready, with another 10-20 with the few things I haven't scanned in yet. Also whatever new stuff comes out between now and the middle-to-end of Dreamwar. Probably 150-ish scans total when we update it (Dreamwar starts in a couple weeks).

To Mungi, the scan you requested is in the next wave for me, so it'll be another 2-3 days. My apologies, but I'm making progress and had to finish the current crop of scans before digging up new ones.

At this point a few of these people probably could have their own threads. But I kinda like having them all together like this. It's easier for me, if nothing else. And people like Jenny or Rose would be a bit lost with their own thread, so it helps to lump them in with those who have more showings.

Mythbuster about Doctor and telepathy. Posted here for whoever's interested...I'll also be adding the link to Doctor's section when I update page 1.

DigiMark007
No new scans added (waiting at least another month or so) but I've been organizing page 1 a bit. I added an "info" section for each character that includes a bio, pic (for most), and brief description.

The site I use for the bios is the Wildstorm Resource Wiki. It's not affiliated with regular wiki as far as I can tell, but is user-created. It's unbelievable for appearances, and I've been using it to help me track down rogue cameo appearances that I don't have. It also usually has fairly comprehensive bios. I have an account and have edited a few of the bios myself with basic information that was missing both from Authority and Stormwatch characters, so I'll obviously endorse it over most others.

User-creation in bios is tricky sometimes, but when I edit I stick to base power set info and information about the characters themselves. The fear is that you get people with an agenda trying to make them seem better than they are, but it seems fairly well-monitored (edits are reviewed, for example). If you get a dedicated and informed fanbase, they actually seem better than mainstream bios most times. A "bio site" is generally years out of date, but wiki, for example, is usually fairly up-to-date. And niche sites like this are even better, especially for appearances for this one.

K, so I'm going to make an appeal to the forum to add the last piece of the puzzle here.

Once my current orders from online comic shops come in, I'll literally be 2 issues away from owning every comic the Authority appears in. I've spent the last couple weeks tracking down the remotest issues and most obscure cameos to get all of them. There may be some I'm not aware of, but I highly doubt it. Years of steadily collecting combined with the great resource wiki site I mentioned in the post above are about as thorough as you can get with appearances. Some of the ones they mentioned are just that: appearances....they'll be in 1-2 panels in the whole comic and that's it. So I have little reason to doubt that their list is comprehensive. Normally I'm not one to be such a collector, but when I got so close I wanted to finish it off.

So. The 2 issues. Gen13 Vol. 2 Issue #'s 68-69. If anyone has the issues, I'd greatly appreciate someone browsing through them and seeing if there's anything feat-worthy in them for the Authority. If so, I'd also appreciate you posting the feats. Either way, when I update this thread it will be as many feats as you'll ever find in one place for the Authority, which is my goal. I'll keep looking for the 2 issues, but the 2nd best thing would just be to have someone else post the feats (if any).

Or not. Either way I'm good, and if I can't find them chances are not too many other people have them either. Anyway, the full update will happen in maybe a couple weeks, once everything comes in and I scan everything in.

No rush. The update won't be coming for at least a couple weeks. But thanks a bunch. You can PM them to me or just post them here. Either way, thanks.

Had another look while I haevn't had a drink (embarrasment ) and she doesn't actually do anything feat wise, she talks about sleeping with Grunge, tries running away from some alien thing then the Gen guys sort out the problem while she just lies there. Sorry.

I could send you the scans I guess, always interesting seeing her in her undies.

DigiMark007
Nah, don't bother. Thanks though.

Does anyone have that picture of Midnighter taking a taser to his nuts and kicking the shit out of the same people a couple seconds later.

Actually, that'll be among the scans in the upcoming update. Though I'm a bit disturbed that you want to see that scan specifically.

haermm

...anyway, just wait 2-3 weeks and it'll be posted.

DigiMark007
Screw it. I need more opening posts to include everything, so we're getting a new thread. I was just going to edit the current, but why the hell not. It's doubling in size almost, so we might as well send it off good.

I'm excited. I'm a bloody collector now. It's fun being the authority on The Authority.

Oh, and speaking of anti-climax, I only buy TPB's for MN'ers solo series, so the update will only have up through issue 7. I'll add newer arcs as they are sold in collections, so it's no big deal. But the "100% comprehensive" sticker has to have that asterisk on it for the time being.
