I think the biggest reason to hate Rob Liefeld is that he has imitators... bad ones (thats right bad Liefeld imitators!) that get work as pencilers! Just look at the guest penciler on Cable and Deadpool two months ago.

I'll give this to Liefield: His style fits in perfectly with the over-the-top schlock of early 90's comic writing....the ones where giant guns, boobs, and pecs seemed to be the norm. Even Spidey (or more usually, his villains) suffered from it from about '92 to '98.

Of course, that's essentially saying his bad art fits bad writing well. But meh.

In any case, he should've stopped back then. Maybe he'd still have a rep left in the business.

Nah, but his villains always looked liked Roid-raged "X-treme" versions of what comic artistry should be. The Clone Saga happened during that era too...just bad times.

I remember an old Death's Head II ploy (I think it was multiple titles of Marvel UK) where they'd put "PUMPING IRON!" on the cover to let readers know that stereotypical muscle-bound males were galavanting through the pages. Sad times, though fortunately the writing (and usually art) didn't suffer as much as some of the American stuff (like the X-Men or Cable :barf: ). But it could've only happened in the 90's (I think the "PUMPIN IRON" tour was circa '94).
