Twilight the Movie

***September 27, 2007 Update***

This information was found recently by some of the good people at the TwilightLexicon:

TWILIGHT
Feature Film
Summit Entertainment
SAG

Producers: Mark Morgan, Karen Rosenfelt, Greg Mooradian
Director: Catherine Hardwicke
Writer: Melissa Rosenberg
Casting Director: Tricia Wood & Deborah Aquila
Casting Associate: Samantha Finkler
Casting Assistant: Lisa Zagoria
Start Date: January 2008
Location: Vancouver

We still do not have any news about auditions, but we will update as soon as we have any information. (In case you have forgotten, neither Stephenie nor myself can "get you a spot in the movie" or "put in a good word for you," so please don't ask). The following descriptions of characters show what the casting people will be looking for:

- Caucasian, 17, a natural and accessible beauty with ivory skin and long brown hair.

- Caucasian, 17, boyish, lanky with un-tidy bronze colored hair and pale luminous skin. He's the most stunning of the Cullen boys. He is inwardly turned, quiet, mysterious and dangerous.

- Native American, 15, long, glossy black hair and a baby-face. He is an amiable guy who befriends Bella when she first moves to town.

Once again, we will update this page as soon as we have new information. On that note, we will soon be integrating RSS feeds into our site. Check back soon to subscribe to the feed.

***September 26, 2007 Update***

Catherine Hardwicke, director of the forth-coming Twilight movie, recently visited the Forks area with her team. Here are links to two articles about the scouting trip:
Forks Forum and Peninsula Daily News

And while we are posting interesting links, both Twilight (the movie) and Stephenie were recently added to IMDb.com (Internet Movie Database). Here are the links:
Twilight and Stephenie Meyer.
While there is still no new information, it is exciting to see them on IMDb and will be more exciting to check updates in the future.

vivando-loca
hope it's good and they don't ruin it like they supposedly did for Blood and Chocolate. or Eragon.

that would just suck.

Who would u prefer to be casted in the roles?

.Dance_Inside.
Gaspard Ulliel - Edward Cullen
Danielle Panabaker - Bella Swan
Steven Straight - Jacob Black
Rachel Leigh Cook - Alice Cullen
Trent Ford - Jasper Hale
Cillian Murphy - James
The rest of the characters I don't care as much...

I've always wanted Gaspard Ulliel to play Edward...even before I was interested in him smile

silver_tears
So Robert Pattison (of Cedric Diggory fame) was cast as Edward.
I'm pretty pumped, he looks kinda right imo.
And I really love me some Gaspard so we'll see.

Kristen Stewart is Bella.
I'm not a fan.

I'm really excited for this. shock

savvysparrowluv
Hey, I'm a new fan but totally devoted to this series, lol! I've only read Twilight, I have to wait until after Christmas to read the others since they are going to be gifts *grumble* - oh well. I was hoping Gaspard would be cast as Edward, but I think Robert will do a good job. I had my hopes for Emily Browning for Bella, but oh well stick out tongue So glad I found a forum of other Twilight lovers! big grin big grin big grin

Callan
It'll be interesting to see how Robert Pattinson affects an American accent for the movie; I rather liked his native one in the Goblet of Fire.

I wasn't initially very receptive to the idea of Kristen Stewart being cast as Bella, primarily because I'd never heard of her before and because I've had my heart set on Emily Browning as Bella (like so many other people). But after skimming through a few pictures of her, I think she could fit the Bella mold pretty well. After all, Meyer didn't make Bella out to be a supermodel, but just a plain, everyday girl and Stewart can do that. Haven't seen any indication of her acting ability, so crossing my fingers on that front.

I hope they do get someone good for Alice. She's my favorite. smile

savvysparrowluv
Yeah, i thought Emily might be a bit too pretty for bella, she's supposed to be rather ordinary (at least to her eyes), lol stick out tongue

Well Edward's speech isn't really typical. It's pretty unique (according to Bella) so he could probably get away with a lot when he gives it a go.

I really do not like her tbh. I've read she was pretty good in some of the stuff she's done, but the few things I've seen I've never warmed up to her. That and she seems to try so hard in pictures and stuff, being all pouty etc. From my understanding of the books it's as if Bella doesn't even seem to wear makeup.

Although to be truly honest I never liked Bella, even before Edward made an appearance laughing out loud

I love Alice, I was hoping for someone like Natalie Portman, but it seems this movie's headed in a more lesser known actors direction.
I'm excited about Jasper (love him) and Carlisle.

I've seen the teaser trailer but not on MySpace. It shows some promise

I read all three books in two days. I did not eat or sleep. I laughed, I cried, and I had to stop reading to catch my breath a couple of times.

I'm kind of obsessed with this series...so I have high hopes for the movie. I think it will be great even if its not what we're expecting. My only real concern is the soundtrack for some reason. If its a crap soundtrack it might ruin the movie. That would bother me...such a small detail.

I think that they did a great job with the casting, though I pictured a few people differently. And for whatever reason I kept imagining that Jasper had dark hair. I dunno why. Same for Carlisle. And Esme had the lighter hair. I suppose I'm special like that.

But yeah...way way waaaaay excited and might die of a stroke waiting for the book in August and the movie in December....its just too long of a wait.

Kella
Can you feel the awesome?

i'm really excited about this movie. i read through most of the first book, but i never finished it. i think i may have to go back and reread it before the film hits theaters.

hmm....the reason I'm hoping that Twilight kicks major ass in the box office is so that they can make New Moon...mostly cuz I want to see this...

Uuuuugh. So not excited for this movie. But then I won't be going, so that's okay. I read Twilight just because everyone else was doing it, and I wish I could get back those three hours and twenty dollars of my life.

Although hearing that Robert Pattinson is playing Edward like some kind of sociopathic serial killer was very fun to hear. big grin

spidergrl
Totally love the Twilight series and REALLY hope that they don't ruin them by making a stink-ass movie. But from what I've read, and seen on youtube, it looks alright so far. I don't really like who they cast for Bella though - She looks to strong as a character to play the accident prone Bella

scott349
So they are finally making a movie on the great story of "Twilight"

I expect this movie to be a great hit, I have read the book and the story is awesome.

But how this movie fares will not be known, till it is released.

Will be waiting for this one.

AngryManatee
As far as I'm concerned, it looks like a typical teen drama movie where it has a couple having to deal with some kind of obstacle. Typically this obstacle is social standing, conflicting moralities, or perhaps a crazed parental figure. In the case of Twilight, it's that one of them is a vampire. Now that's thinking out of the box.

~Bun Bun~
I agree I don't like who they casted as Bella, she seems too strong and confident. Personily looks wise Robert looks exactly how I imagened my Edward.

If you look on IMdB they already have a page for New Moon. It doesn't say anything on it but you never know it could be our New Moon.

So EXCITED!

Newjak
Looking forward to this movie after finally reading the book.

Do you have anyone in mind that you think would have been good to play Bella? I've been thinking, and I can't think of anyone. I just imagined her more frail.

It comes out in NZ on 25th of Dec - so angry. However, Im going to Canada next week and it comes out over there on the 21st of Nov. Twilight here I come

The overall tone I've got from reviews I read is the movie is nothing mind blowing.

yeah looks so. Looks pretty tame, might even be boring. I dont expect to see many good reviews on it at all.

BUT F*** that, I loved the series and I gonna be there for the very first showing ( well when it opens here). hehe

I didn't know Catherine Hardwicke was the director. I enjoyed her work in Lords Of Dogtown and Thirteen. I did read a bad review on Twilight, though. That's too bad, maybe Hardwicke wasn't meant for this movie.

Lords of Dogtown I adore, Thirteen was nothing special except for the mother/daughter scenes towards the end. It's nice to see a woman director working on such a big well known movie though.

Menetnashté
Saw this movie tonight with my friends, we went seeking humor. And it was delivered. Not sure if the books were this cheesy, but I found it hilarious. Acting was decent for what it was, it wasn't that the acting was so bad it was cheesy (like AVP 2) but the story itself I found incredibly cheesy. I swear there were more stare downs in this movie than in a season of Dragonball Z. I just didn't like it because I thought the plot and what not was stupid. I'm sure people who liked the books would probably like it.

BruceSkywalker
Very good movie...

I thought it was pretty sweet.
I was worried if Kristen could pull off a good bella and surprising I think she did.

One part I really wished they would of put in the movie was when she said "I love you" for the 1st time but it was in her sleep.

Oh also I was so confused with which "Bellas lullaby" they were putting in the movie, I like it but it's not the one I though was going in.

Looking forward to the rest, they gotta be doing the rest the way they ended the movie.

Also I liked how they did the stare downs because it portrays how intense everything is between them.

~Bun Bun~
I auctally agree with this review from rottentomatos.

"Having lost much of its bite transitioning to the big screen, Twilight will please its devoted fans, but do little for the uninitiated"

I can see it being not as inviting to someone who is not a twilighter, my friend who I draged along with me to see it had many many questions afterwards, but that one turned out good, she saw it with me agian and now is reading the series.

Bardock42

I think that's what would annoy people. It's like "look how intense this is....we are staring each other down shock"

Then again, maybe they did it well...

FistOfThe North
I dunno, to me, "Twilight" is vampire movie filled with too much emo sarcasm, no fangs, virtually no blood, and no sex, where sunlight exposure turns a vampire "beautiful". This was obviously a tame, psuedo-dark teens' movie.

Not saying that there's anything wrong with a different vision of vampires, per say, if it ends up working out, especially if it's geared toward a niche, and it ends up working out, but this film clearly wasn't aimed towards a more adult or mature audience.

Like i said "Not saying that there's anything wrong with a different vision of vampires, per say, if it ends up working out, especially if it's geared toward a niche, and it ends up working out, but this film clearly wasn't aimed towards a more adult or mature audience."

My point was, was that this was more a teens' movie, that's all. I liked I.W.A.V., aka the greatest vampire movie, to me, and Brad Pitt, aka, Louie, was a good vampire. He actually felt guilty about being undead and regrets taking the blood oath initially. That's why he only kills the worst criminals and "Blade" was (seemingly) rightious as well..

SpaceMonkey
Dude, when will this generation wake up? They're continuously making megabucks for bad movies, thereby justifying studios to make more!! It pisses me off that so bad! Haha, there. I got it out of my system.

I got dragged to this movie by my wife and sister-in-law since they were huge fans of the series. Holy crap! I'll never get those 2 hours of my life back.

The acting in this movie was terrible. I've seen better acting in a Wayans brothers movie. The sad thing is the crappy acting could be forgiven if it was given by the secondary characters, but they were actually pretty decent. It was the 2 leads who couldn't act their way out of a paper bag.

Not only that, but the dialogue was very cheesy. Not even The Notebook was this bad.

"Are you afraid?"

OMG, the Book was soooooo much better than that movie. Heck I think they should go and remake it just make up for this one being so awful.

I loved the books, but that Movie, omg That movie was so lame. Poor editing, one poor ass script, focus on the wrong storyline, characters portrayed differently. I dont think the cast did as bad as everyone thinks though ( but they weren't all that good either).

Someone send those people to some acting lessons, voice coaches, fire the editor and hire a new director for New moon before they destroy it even further. Considering the series is more "filmable" as it goes along, so it should get better

so many things were wrong with it

1: Edward was about to rip everyones face off

4: just like the HP5 movie, it movfed way too fast and the movie wasnt even that long! cmon people! another movie as long as The Lord of the Rings isnt so bad is it?

I totally agree with you about the fans. I was trying to enjoy the movie, and every time the would show Edward all teeny boppers would just start oooing and ahhhing at the screen. It was really annoying.

I haven't read the book yet, but I did like the movie so I may read them one of these days.

Sanctuary
Saw the movie today. It was ****ing hilarious. Every time Jasper came on screen many people in teh theatre would start laughing. lol

..the ridiculous close-ups lol
MIKE AND ERIC.. sooo awfullol

There were some good parts though. yes I liked the fight scene, and Edward dd Alice looked very close to what I imagined. Bella sucked though. She had the same annoying look on her face through the whole thing.

The music really didn't fit and made the scenes much worse. erm Especially in the classroom scene. lol

michaelsomain
I loved Nikki Reed in this movie, she did an awesome job playing an infatuated teenager. The baseball scene was bad-ass, cannot wait to see her in the new movie "Chain Letter"

Everglow
You should know they are making a New Moon too. I'm actually really pumped on the idea - the permanent release date is November 20th, 2009! Bring on the screaming girls!

vivando-loca
i saw twilight last night.

compared to other movies of this year, it's actually a wicked good movie. like, amazing. i gave it an A-. i totally loved it.

compared to the book, it FAILED MISERABLY! i gave it a negative F-. the characters were all wrong, and don't even get me started on the scenes. i think they could have gotten a much better actress for Rosalie. yes, the actress did good, but she just wasn't...Rosalie.

and Edward. no, just...no. that guy was not Edward. just...no. i can't even describe. he did good, but there is room for improvement. like the fact that he completely lacked that Edward Cullen-ness.

the one character i thought was perfectly cast was the girl who played Jessica. perfect casting, right there. and Alice was exactly as i pictured her, so that was good.

but i'm going to stop ranting, cause i could go for hours.

okay, one more: Emmet needed more muscles. and a better haircut.

okay, done.

still, good movie.

Newjak
This was a pretty meh movie in my opinion. Even if I didn't read the books I don't think I would have thought this was a great movie.

The only time I thought the two leading characters had any real chemistry like in the books was when Edward was carrying Bella through the trees. Which as it works out is a set of scenes where they didn't talk.

The movie just moved so slow for half of it. Although it did pick up a bit towards the end.

I will say that I did love the baseball scene. I also enjoyed the final fight scene.

As for the casting. The only castings I really liked were Emmet, Carlisle, Charlie the Dad, Billy Black, and Jack the bad Vamp. I thought they were all pretty spot on to what I thought they would be in the books.

Everyone else was so-so for the most part.

Sado22

The books are garbage and this movie is mega garbage. Twilight is the worst fad that has come to existence in quite a while.

Sparkling vampires...really? No, sparkling and vampires don't mix.
And what kind of message is the main character sending to the younger girls, that it's okay to be stupidly in love with a stuck up vampire and be okay with being treated poorly? Yeah, that's good stuff all right. roll eyes (sarcastic)

Now because of this vampires are going to be the new "thing", which is disgusting of how they are portrayed in this useless waste of film. Go watch a dracula movie or something, see if you're still swooning over them then. And trust me, you won't be seeing any stupid pretty boy-sparkle vampires.

Bicnarok
Im looking forward to this, after seeing the trailer.

Sado22
ditto. highschool teenager crushes+vampire=bad mix

what REALLY doesn't mix is: lipstick+makeup+eyeliner+boys. that shite is just wrong.

don't forget having to put up with ultrabitchy sister-in-law big grin

ditto.

don't...do...it

You know something?

I thought I was going to hate this movie (or at least fall as sleep while watching) but I actually thought it was okay.

For all the cheesy moments and High School love shit and stuff....I though it was fairly decent movie.

To be honest... I hurl at the idea of Romantic movies...but now that I think of it...must because they're adult love movies trying to be perfect...blah!

Don't think that WD is going soft for a moment. But this was passable for my tastes...sure it must be the action and vampires and the mentioning of Kryptonite...but I can let it through my defense wall of rejection.

Okay, so how would I rate it? Should I use my Five point system...hmm...maybe not...I would rate it like this.....

Better than Spiderman 3 and less boring than the past four Harry Porter movies.

You can quote me on that....YA BOY!

we have a whole thread about this movie, chain letter, you should go check it out

Don't worry...I still love yah! wink

If you want to see a FAR superior vampire movie, watch Let the Right One In. Makes Twilight look like a student film, not that it needed much help with that.

AC/DC'S_LVR
i just hope they have a better budget for New Moon and dont half-ass it like Twilight

AS far as I know the budget is the same, but may change as they continue to film

I just saw the trailer for Chain Letter on youtube... i can't wait to see that but it looks a little too gory for me.

I've got Twilight to watch tonight, haven't read any of the books so have no idea how faithful it is.

Vampires drink blood

MildPossession
Really? well I never...

I quite enjoyed Twilight, wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

Mantug61
There are a lot of people who like Twilight and a lot of people who don't like Twilight. Pretty much it is an in between sort of judgment. Personally, I thought Twilight was really good. It gave a different idea to romance.

I'll watch and read the Twilight books once they act like the Vampires from Blade.

Captain REX
I've read part of the first book... just couldn't make it once things started getting ridiculously like Stephanie Meyer's version of high school. I saw the movie and... yeah, even more ridiculous.

simpleviolet
well i luv the bookz.. Twilight (the first book) was the best out of the series and I was not able to put it down! Absolutely wonderful!..and im excited to see the movie but i really dont think i will like the movie more than the bookz.

Couldnt agree more. I had it in my pc a while back and deleted it without seeing. Got it again because of all the fuzz at the MTV awards last night. Why did this movie won best movie is beyond me! Why would vampires need to go to high school? Maybe taking a page from Buffy and Angel. Vampires going out during the day? Because it was cloudy/foggy? Ridiculous. Mutant vampires(mind reader, future seer)? Although he cant read her mind (sounds like True Blood) and the most ridiculous part of the whole movie, the vampires wont die or turn to dust when exposed to sun light, they turn to freaking diamonds! Im guessing in New Moon the werewolves will turn into cats!

Marvel Kid
This was a shiity ass mediocre movie with unknown actors and actressess. The plot was predictable and the only people who liked this movie were the little girls in there Jonas Brother t-shirts cutting there wrists and crying because they never had a boyfriend. tsk, tsk, tsk.

MildPossession
And that is why I never bother with the MTV Movie Awards.

See the New Moon topic, there is a trailer and you see a werewolf in it.

I enjoyed the film. I saw it without any sort of outside influence. I am gay now, right?

MildPossession
Oo you are uber gay!! and I cut my arms last night as I was listening to the Jonas Brothers.

Sadly, I did! That gurl has the charisma of a rock!

MildPossession
I don't mind the actress but some scenes were quite cringeworthy in the acting department, especially near the end in a Hospital.

BillyJeans28
have you seen the previews for chain letter with nikki reed? i think she looks a lot better there than in twilight...

MurderTramp
The whole movie was horrible. To be honest, keep the $8 you'd spend on the ticket, and buy the book, at least than you don't have to deal with goofy hair and wretched acting

If it comforts you at all, I was 'uninitiated' (surprisingly). I watched it earlier this week and absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed the storyline and thought the cast were perfect in their roles, although I admit I had no preconceptions as to how they should come across as I hadn't read the series. Pattinson is brilliant as Edward Cullen and I think he and Stewart work extremely well together.

I'm now halfway through 'Breaking Dawn' - my favourite book being 'Eclipse' - and I can't wait for the other film adaptations.

Oh, and I think the Volturi are totally cool big grin

=Tired Hiker=
I kinda liked this movie. I liked the love story. I also dug on the wolves backstory. Some of the effects were a bit lame, but oh well. It reminded me of like a really good episode of Smallville.

No lycans onscreen dammit.

Neo_Version 7
^ That's what the sequel is for.

Rogue Jedi
I know. I wonder how well they will be presented onscreen.
