A/N: To some of you who have read my other story, He Was Meant to be With..., this story will seam familiar. That's because I took the Harry/Hermione part of that story and re-wrote the beginning to make it so that Harry never dates Ginny, and he's only in love with Hermione. Even if you have read the other story, I suggest that you read the first few chapters of this aswell because there have been many changes.
If you don't know from my other story, I LOVE reviews!! They make me post faster. I didn't get too many reviews on my other story, so I'm hoping to get lots on this one.
And now, here's the first chapter. Enjoy!!

Being With You
A Harry/Hermione Story
By: ewalklover
Chapter One: I Think I'm in Love
Harry Potter, age 17, sat on his bed in the seventh year boy’s dormitory in Gryffindor Tower at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with his head in his hands. He was thinking, and thinking hard.
During the summer, his feelings for a certain bushy haired brunette had developed into something…more. He was desperately trying to figure out what these feelings were. Were they just close friendship? Or…more?
Just as Harry was about to get up and get ready for bed, the dormitory door burst open and in walked a tall, gangly, redheaded boy. “Harry! You have to come and check out my and Hermione’s new Head Boy and Girl dorm. It’s amazing!”
“Okay, Ron, I’m coming,” Harry said as Ron Weasley pulled him out of the dorm and then out of the common room.
Ron led Harry down the hall and around a few corners before stopping in front of a portrait of a blonde mermaid who was braiding her hair. She giggled when they stopped in front of her. “Password?” she asked in a singsong voice.
“Tickle me silly,” said Ron, and the mermaid swung her portrait open. Harry raised his eyebrows at the silly password, and Ron explained that one year, many, many years ago before Dumbledore was even headmaster, the head boy and girl put tickling charms on everyone before they left the school, as a way to remember them. It had been the password ever since.
Harry followed Ron into the common room. It looked almost exactly like the Gryffindor common room, only it was smaller. There was a large fireplace on one wall with a table, a couch, and two chairs in front of it. On each side of the common room were two desks, presumably one for Ron and one for Hermione. Everything, of course, was red and gold. At the back of the room were two doors leading to the bedrooms.
Ron led Harry to the door on the right and swung it open. It seemed as though Ron had already done some decorating. There was one big four-poster bed, a small bookcase, a wardrobe, and a door that led to the bathroom. The room was, like the common room, decked out in Gryffindor colours. Around the walls hung moving posters of the Chudley Cannons, Ron’s favourite Quidditch team.
Harry chuckled. “Nice room,” he said.
“Ron, I wanted to get started on Hogsmeade dates…can you come out here—Oh! Hi, Harry!” said a slightly embarrassed Hermione Granger.
“Hey, Hermione.”
There was an awkward moment of silence where the three of them just stood there, Harry looking at Hermione, Hermione looking at Harry, and Ron looking back and forth between both of them.
“Um, you guys can start planning Hogsmeade dates or whatever, I’ll just go to bed,” said Harry.
“Oh, no! Harry, you can stay!” Hermione said. “If—if you want to,” she added as an afterthought.
“Nah, I’ll see you guys in the morning.”
***
Attention all students third year and up:
The following days have been booked as Hogsmead trips:
September 16th
October 14th
November 25th
Please note that all students attending must have their permission forms signed by a parent or guardian.
Harry chuckled the next morning when he read the announcements that had appeared over night. He needed to talk to Ron.
During his first free period, Harry made his way to the head’s common room. Sure enough, there was Ron, playing chess against himself.
“Great!” Ron looked up when Harry walked in. “Now I don’t have to beat myself! I can beat you instead!”
“Haha, but I’m not here to play chess. I need to talk to you. About Hermione.”
“What, you in love with her, or something?” Ron joked.
Harry didn’t laugh.
Ron’s smile faded. “You…you’re in love…with Hermione?”
Harry nodded his head slowly.
Ron burst out laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Harry asked.
“Nothing,” Ron said clearing his throat. “So…why don’t you ask her to Hogsmeade?”
“You wouldn’t be mad?”
“Me? Why would I be mad? It’s not like I like her like that, Harry, common, be reasonable. We always fight. We’re better off just friends anyways.”
“So you really wouldn’t mind if I asked her?”
“No. Now go. I expect she’s in the library somewhere.” Ron said, shoving Harry out of the portrait hole.
***
Harry entered the library. Sure enough, there she was, sitting on her usual couch in a corner, engrossed in a heavy-looking book. Her long, bushy brown hair fell into her face and she pushed it back behind her ear. Oh, how he longed to run his fingers through that hair.
Just as he was about to go over he got nervous. What if she said no? He had always expected she liked Ron, anyways. He didn’t think he could deal with her rejection right now, so he decided to leave. He would just ask her some other time, closer to the date.
***
Of course, he never did ask her. He, Ron, and her just went like usual, although Hermione seemed a bit touchy and upset. She wouldn’t tell the boy’s what her problem was though, and the next day she was back to normal.

Chapter Two: Friday the Thirteenth
“Harry?”
Harry shook his head and cleared it of all thoughts. He looked up and stared into the eyes of Ginny Weasley.
“Oh, Hey, Gin.” He said. Ginny sat down across from him. The somewhat warm, sunny days of September had turned into the cool, crisp days of October, and now it was Tuesday the tenth.
“I was just wondering when we were going to have Quidditch tryouts,” she said.
“Don’t be silly, Ginny, you don’t need to tryout. You’re already on the team. I just need one new chaser, and I’m thinking of Dean, since he was a reserve last year and played pretty well,” said Harry as he buttered a piece of toast.
Ginny shugged. “Whatever you say…but you never know, someone much better could come along.”
“Ginny, I’ve made up my mind,” Harry laughed. Didn’t she want to be on the team? “I’ll schedule one for Friday,” he said absentmindedly.
“WHAT?!” Ginny shrieked, and McGonagall shot her a look. Ginny blushed, and lowered her voice. “What? Harry, you can’t do that! That’s Friday the thirteenth, something bad will happen, I just know it!”
Harry laughed, and Ginny frowned at him. “What? You can’t honestly believe all of that superstition, can you? Remember when I was in third year and I kept seeing the Grim? I’m still here, aren’t I?”
“Fine! Suit yourself! But if someone dies, it’s entirely you’re fault.” She stuck her nose in the air and left the Great Hall. Harry watched her go, chuckling to himself. He was glad she had gotten over her shyness.
***
“Alright, chasers and Ron mount your brooms!” called Harry to his quidditch team. It was Friday, October 13th, the day before the next Hogsmead visit and Harry had yet to ask Hermione. He didn’t know how he was going to ask her. Due to this problem, he was in a really sour mood. It didn’t help that outside it was freezing, windy, and pelting rain.
“We’re going to drill Ron now, and that’ll give you chasers a chance to work on your shots,” he yelled up to Ginny, Demelza, and Dean, the Gryffindor team chasers. He threw the quaffel up to Dean who caught it and passed to Ginny, who then scored on Ron. It should have been an easy save too. Harry groaned.
This went on for about another hour, with the beaters, Jimmy Peakes and Ritchie Coote, hitting bludgers towards the chasers to try and stop them from scoring. Harry was standing on the ground below them, watching. He watched as goal after goal were scored on Ron. He thought that after last year he might be better with his nerves, but apparantly he wasn’t. Ron had so far only saved one goal, and it had been one where just as Demelza was about to thow the quaffel, she got hit was a bludger, knocking her throw off course.
All of a sudden, if it was even possible, the rain came down harder, making it impossible to see. “Okay,” called Harry up to them, but he wasn’t sure that they could hear him. “Stop. Stop! STOP!”
Ginny, it seemed, was the only one who had heard him, she stopped her broom, hovering in the air, when all of a sudden, a bludger hit by Jimmy smashed into her head. Ginny slipped off of her broom, not able to hold on, and tumbled to the ground. Her abandoned broom flew into Dean and he caught it.
Harry, upon seeing this, rushed towards her, thanking god that she hadn’t been too high up in the air. Ron landed beside him, Jimmy on the other side. A few seconds later, the rest of the team was crowded around.
Jimmy was biting his nails nervously. “I’m sorry! I couldn’t see anything! I didn’t even know she was there!” he cried.
“It’s alright, Jimmy. I think she’ll be fine. She’s just knocked out. Ron, help me get her up to Madame Pomfrey. Practice is over,” said Harry sternly. He and Ron lifted Ginny up and carried her to the hospital wing.
When they got there, Madame Pomfrey rushed over immediately and asked what had happened. Harry explained in a calm voice, and they brought Ginny over to an empty bed. Madame Pomfrey hustled about, fixing potions and performing charms until she came to a conclusion.
“She should be fine,” concluded the mediwitch. “It’s probably a good idea that I still check with the healers at St. Mungo’s though. And she’ll need to stay here for a few days at least.”
“Okay,” said both boys together. Since there was nothing else they could do, they turned to leave to go back and change out of their wet and muddy Quidditch robes.
“So,” said Ron as they walked away from the Hospital Wing, “Haven’t asked Hermione yet, eh?”
“No,” Harry grumbled, “I just can’t ever find the right time to ask her.”
“Well, hey! Now’s the best time! Not to mention probably your last chance.”
“But what are you going to do?”
“Who cares about me? I’ll go with Neville and Seamus and Dean.”
“Okay. Wish me luck!”
“Good luck!” Ron called after Harry, who sprinted to his dorm to change.
***
After finding out from Ron that she wasn’t in the heads’ common room, he decided to look in the library, Hermione’s favourite place. Sure enough, there she was, sitting on her usual couch in a corner, engrossed in a heavy-looking book. Her long, bushy brown hair fell into her face and she pushed it back behind her ear. Oh, how he longed to run his fingers through that hair.
“Hey,” said Harry, sitting beside her.
“Hi, Harry. How was practice?” she asked cheerfully.
“It was terrible. Ron saved one goal and Ginny got hurt. She’s going to be in the hospital wing for a few days.”
“Oh, that’s horrible! She’ll miss the Hogsmead trip tomorrow!’
“Yeah, about that. Hermione, I was wondering if you wanted to go with me. Just you and me…you know?”
Hermione smiled. Even though she had a hunch that Ginny had a “thing” for Harry, she just couldn’t say no. After all, it was every woman for herself, wasn’t it? “I’d love that Harry! But…what about Ron?”
“He can go with Neville, Seamus, and Dean,” Harry shrugged.
“Okay, then. I’d love to go with you Harry,” she beamed.
“ ‘Kay, well, I’ll let you get back to your book then,” said Harry, and he got up and left to find Ron and tell him the good news.

Lizzie: You ARE my best fan!! I'm hopeing to get some more soon though...spread the word of my story!!
what?!
A/N: Chapter three! so many chapters in so little time. I'm shocked at myself. lol. Enjoy everybody!
Chapter Three: Finally
The morning of her Hogsmeade date with Harry, Hermione fretted over what she should wear. She didn’t have anything remotely as nice as Ginny did since she wasn’t a big fashion fan. She would have to remember to go shopping with Ginny sometime and get some cute clothes for occasions such as this.
Hermione pulled out a lacy blue tank top she was sure was Ginny’s and put her black v-neck sweater over it. That and jeans would have to do. She grabbed her jacket and went to meet Harry out on the grounds.
As she left her room, Ron entered their common room. She smiled and said, “Forget something?”
“Yeah, my jacket. It’s pretty cold out there,” he laughed. He wished it was him going with Hermione instead of Harry, even though he knew she would bore him to death in the bookshops. He really didn’t mind though…
“…Well, I guess I’ll see you later then,” said Hermione, waving as she left the room. She couldn’t wait. Her first ever real date with Harry! She had liked him for so long, and now he finally felt the same way! She had never thought he’d ask her to Hogsmeade…but he did!
She had reached Harry by now. They smiled at each other and set off down the road towards Hogsmeade.
“Harry would you mind if we stopped in the bookshop? I have a book on order and I want to see if it’s come in yet,” Hermione said, shivering.
“ ‘Course not,” said Harry, just glad to be with her.
They walked in somewhat awkward silence the rest of the way to the bookshop, where they went in. Harry sat down on a large, squishy chair and waited an hour and a half while Hermione looked through books. She ended up buy three and getting the one she had on order.
“I can’t wait to read these books,” Hermione gushed as she and Harry left the bookshop. “Where to now, Harry?”
“Well, I was thinking we could just go to the Three Broomsticks and get some butterbeer. It’s pretty cold today,” Harry said.
“Good idea. I don’t want to be outside to much,” Hermione said, and they made their way to the Three Broomsticks.
Upon entering, Harry told Hermione to go and find a table while he got drinks. She nodded alright, and found a table away from the others in a corner. A few minutes later, Harry came back carrying two bottles of butterbeer.
“Thanks,” Hermione said as Harry handed her a bottle. Their fingers brushed, and they blushed. Harry took a swig of butterbeer.
“So, What books did you get?” Harry asked, desperate to make conversation. He had never had any trouble before, but now it just seemed…hard.
“Oh! Two of them were muggle books…they can get muggle books there, you know? It’s really quite amazing. Anyways, I got Charlotte’s Web, that’s always been one of my favourites, and Pride and Prejudice, my mum suggested I read that. I also got The Autobiography of Janette Flabberstone, she’s my favourite singer. You know, she was on the cover of Teen Witch Weekly two weeks ago? She’s absolutely brilliant. Oh, and I also got the newest edition of Hogwarts, A History. That’s the book I ordered.”
Harry smiled. “I’ve heard of Charlotte’s Web. We were supposed to read it in school…before Hogwarts.” Hermione nodded, and he continued. “Anyways, I never did end up reading it because the Dursley’s wouldn’t let me get a library card so that I could borrow it. So, naturally, I failed that part of the class.”
Hermione frowned. “That’s really too bad. It’s such a classic, you’ll have to borrow mine.”
Harry laughed. “All right, Hermione, whatever you want.”
After a bit more discussion about Hermione’s books, the topic turned to Ginny.
“I wonder how Ginny’s doing,” Hermione said lazily as she took a drink of her second butterbeer. “It’s really too bad she had to miss the Hogsmeade trip today.”
“Yeah,” Harry said. He didn’t want to talk about Ginny right now.
“You know, I’ve always thought she had a thing for you Harry.”
Harry raised an eyebrow. “Oh really? Well, that doesn’t matter right now, does it?”
“No, I guess not,” Hermione said, shifting her gaze so that she was looking his straight in the eye. They smiled, and Hermione blushed as she looked at her fingers.
Harry glanced at his watch. “We should probably head back now,” he said somewhat sadly.
“Alright,” Hermione said, and they got up and left, making their way back to Hogwarts. There was some small talk, but mostly they walked in a comfortable silence, Harry’s arm slung loosely around Hermione’s shoulders.
When they reached the portrait of the Mermaid, Hermione said the password and then turned to Harry.
“I’m going to go take a bath now. I can barely move my fingers they’re so cold!” Harry laughed at this. “Thanks for today, Harry, I really had a lot of fun.”
“Me too,” said Harry smiling. As Hermione walked into her room, Harry walked into Ron’s. Ron was lying down on his bed, staring at the ceiling as he often did. He looked over when Harry walked in.
“So? How was it?” Ron asked, grinning.
“It was…amazing,” Harry said as he collapsed in an armchair opposite the bed.
“Really?” Ron raised an eyebrow. “So, what are you guys now? Friends? A couple? Friend’s with benefits?” Ron wiggled his eyebrows.
Harry laughed. “I don’t know…I suppose I’ll ask her later. If she wants to be my girlfriend. Do you think I should do that?”
“It’s up to you mate.”
“You really are no help, you know that?”
“I try, I try.”
***
Harry sat on the couch in front of the fire in the head’s common room waiting for Hermione. Ron had just left for dinner, so Harry was alone.
“Harry? What are you still doing here? I thought you and Ron would’ve gone down for dinner by now,” said Hermione. She closed the door to her room and walked the length of the floor over to the couch where Harry sat. She sat down beside him.
“Ron’s already left. I was waiting for you. I have to tell you something.”
“Okay…” said Hermione slowly. “Tell me.”
“Well, Hermione, it’s sort of like this. We’ve been really close friends for a while now, six years to be exact, and over the last year, my feelings for you have…developed.” He was trying to make this sound intelligent and romantic, really he was, but it didn’t really come out sounding like it had in his head. He watched Hermione’s look change from that of question to that of almost sheer happiness. “Oh god. This sounded a lot better in my head. Well, what I’m really trying to say, Hermione, is that I love you.”
***
Dean Thomas slipped away from the Gryffindor table. He was going to make his move now. He ran two stairs at a time up to the Hospital Wing before quietly opening the door, making sure that Madame Pomfrey wasn’t there, and then tip-toeing towards Ginny’s bed. Lucky for him, she was awake.
“Hey,” she smiled as he drew nearer.
He smiled back. “Hey. Listen Ginny. I think we need to talk.”
“Talk? About what?”
“Us. After last year. After breaking up. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking over the summer, and I wanted to let you know that I still love you, and I shouldn’t have treated you the way I did. I’m sorry,” he said somewhat sheepishly.
“Really, Dean? You still love me?”
“ ‘Course I do. Wouldn’t be saying it if I didn’t,” he said logically, taking her hand in his.
“I think we need to take it slow first, though. I mean, after you treated me last year…I just really don’t want that to happen again.” She said, looking him straight in the eye, never breaking contact. She wanted him to know that she wanted them to get back together, but she knew she had to be cautious.
“I agree one hundred percent. How about we start fresh? With a date to Hogsmead the next time we go?”
“Sounds good to me,” Ginny smiled.
Dean smiled too. “Goodnight, Ginny,” he said, kissing her on the cheek.
***
Hermione’s lips twitched into a smile. “Really?” she whispered.
“Really.”
Hermione flung her arms around Harry’s neck, pulling him into a hug. “I love you too, Harry Potter!”
Harry loosened her hold on him and looked her in the eyes. They seemed to be begging him, so he leaned in closer, closing his eyes as he did, and pressed his lips against hers.
It was a thousand and one times better than his kiss with Cho Chang. First of all, it wasn’t wet, and second, it was with a girl he really and truly loved.

A/N: And here is chapter four, which I dedicate to Lizzie, TheSims14, because she is my biggest (and as far as I know only) fan!! Remember, guys, I love reviews!!
Chapter Four: Pairing Off
Ron walked aimlessly around outside the castle. Harry and Hermione had been going out for about a week now, and they were inseparable, both in their own little world together. Ron had mostly been like a third wheel, even when he went to visit Ginny in the Hospital Wing, because Dean was always there. It seemed as though everyone had someone else. He was sad. He desperately wanted someone else to spend time with.
He sat down underneath the willow tree that he, Harry, and Hermione often sat under when the weather was nice, doing their homework. He stared out at the lake. Maybe he could have the Giant Squid for company. Oh, now he was just being stupid. Even the Giant Squid probably had a girlfriend.
“Hello, Ron,” said a quiet voice from beside him. Ron looked up into the pleasant face of Luna Lovegood.
“Oh, hello, Luna,” he said, smiling. He loved Luna. She was so funny, especially with her Quidditch commentary.
“Mind if I join you?” she asked. He shook his head and she sat down beside him. “So, Harry and Hermione, eh? Never really saw that coming. Personally, I always thought it would be you and Hermione. But, I guess I was wrong.”
“Yeah,” Ron said. “Noticed how everyone seems to have paired off then?” Luna nodded. “Figures. Seventh year and all…it’s to be expected I guess.” Luna just sat there, for once not saying anything. Ron thought he noticed a little bit of pity in her eyes. He decided to change the subject. “So, Luna, thinking of doing the Quidditch commentary this year?”
“Oh yes! Last year was so much fun! I really enjoy it. Daddy says I have a knack for things like that,” she said.
“Good. You were the best commentator last year. Much better than everyone else.”
Luna chuckled. They continued talking until Ron got hungry, and they decided to go to dinner.
***
After dinner, Harry and Hermione proceeded, hand in hand, to the heads’ common room. Once there, they flopped down on the couch, Hermione in Harry’s lap.
“So,” said Hermione, her arms wrapped around Harry’s neck, playing with his messy black hair, “I was thinking Ron and I should plan something for Halloween. Do you have anything in mind?”
“I have something in mind, but it has nothing to do with Halloween,” said Harry.
“Oh?” asked Hermione, raising an eyebrow.
“I believe we have some unfinished business to attend to, and I think we should attend to in right now.”
“Do you now?” Hermione whispered, bringing her face closer to Harry’s. Their lips met, and Harry’s arms moved from her legs to around her waist. He licked her lips, begging for an entrance. Hermione gave in, and let her lips part. Just as Harry was about to deepen the kiss, the portrait banged open, startling the couple. They looked up to see Ron.
“Oi! Lovebirds! Get a room will you?” he said, a smile playing at his lips. Harry and Hermione blushed slightly. They would have to wait until tomorrow to finish that still unfinished business.
***
The next day, Hermione unlocked her lips from Harry’s for a few minutes to catch up with Ginny, who was just out of the Hospital Wing. They had an hour before dinner, and Hermione wanted to do some girl talking. Ginny agreed, and they walked to Hermione’s dorm. Once there, they sat down on the bed, facing each other.
“So?” asked Ginny, grinning and cocking an eyebrow. “How are things with Harry?”
“Amazing. I honestly couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend. And how are things with Dean?”
“Slow, but good. I really like him, Hermione. Probably more than he likes me.”
“I don’t think so,” Hermione smiled, “I’ve seen the way he looks at you. Like there’s no other girl for him.”
“Well, good. ‘Cause there shouldn’t be.” Hermione and Ginny laughed.
“Anyways, Ginny, I really wanted to ask your opinion. Ron and I have been thinking…” she trailed off as Ginny gave her a look that said, Don’t try and tell me you’ve been alone with Ron for five seconds. “Well, okay, so mostly just me thinking. But what I was thinking about was what we should do for Halloween. I mean, it’s only like, a week and a half away or so…if we’re going to do something, we’d better plan it soon.”
“You’re right. You should definitely do something. But what to do, is the question…” Ginny thought for a moment. “How about…no…that’s not good. What have past Head Boys and Girls done?”
“Nothing, really, while we’ve been here. They never really put much thought into it. I suppose we could just have a regular Halloween feast like usual…it’s pretty late to plan anything anyways,” Hermione sighed.
“No it’s not, Hermione! It’s never too late! And in fact, I have the perfect idea for you. Have you noticed that a lot of the sixth and seventh years have been pairing off? Well, why not hold a party, sort of like a mixer for the sixth and seventh years. There could be music and butterbeer and candy, of course…I think it would be fun!”
“That’s actually not such a bad idea…” said Hermione, the wheels already turning in her head.
“Great. Glad you like it. Now, let’s go down for dinner. I’m starved!”
“I swear, Ron’s had a bad influence on you, Ginny,” said Hermione, and both girls laughed their way to the Great Hall.
***
In two days time, a new notice appeared on the notice boards in each common room over night. In the morning, students would be jumping up and down in excitement and annoyance over the announcement.
“A party? Just for sixth and seventh years? Awesome!” whispered a sixth year Hufflepuff to her friend.
“A party?” Draco Malfoy said in surprise. “How lame. Hey, Pansy! Go with me to the party?”
“I wish I was a sixth or seventh year,” sighed a small first year girl in Gryffindor.
“Hey, Luna! Come sit with us at lunch!” Ron called to her one day as he jogged down the hall to catch up to her before lunch.
“Alright! I hope no one else will mind,” she said, stopping right at the entrance to the Great Hall. She flicked her long blonde hair over her shoulder. “Great idea about the party, by the way. Sounds like it’ll be fun.”
“It was all Ginny’s idea, really,” Ron said, blushing a little. He and Luna had been spending a lot of time together over the past few days.
“Well, tell her it was a great one for me. Now let’s go to lunch. I’m starved!” she said, and she skipped into the Great Hall.
Ron watched her go as she skipped in ahead of him. Maybe, just maybe….
***
Harry pushed Hermione down onto her bed, his hands running down her body to her waist. She entwined her fingers in his messy black hair as she had done so many times before and deepened their kiss. Harry started to slide her robe off of her shoulders, touching the bare skin of her arms.
“Harry,” Hermione gasped, unlocking her lips from him. “I think we’re going a bit too fast.”
“Agreed,” Harry sighed, rolling off of her. They lay on the bed for a minute, before turning their heads to look at each other. Harry grinned. Hermione grinned back. She rolled over quickly so that she was on top of Harry and attached her lips to his again. It just felt right.

Lizzie: I know I've already told you this like, ten billion times, but that story is amazing!!!
A/N: Okay, everyone, here's chapter five! Only one more chapter after this before everything is new again!! And remember, I looooooove getting reviews, good and bad!
Chapter Five: The Mixer
Halloween dawned on Hogwarts, and before anyone realised, they were finishing up their last classes and getting ready for the Halloween feast. Harry and Hermione walked down the hallway to the Great Hall, hand in hand, as usual.
When they entered the Great Hall they sat down at the Gryffindor table, across from Ron and Luna, who had been sitting there for a few meals. Nobody really minded, and she was happy because she had friends.
“Hey guys,” Harry said.
“Hey,” Ron managed to say through mouthfuls of food. Hermione looked at him disgustedly. Luna snorted at Hermione’s face. Ron looked at her, and they both started to laugh. Harry and Hermione exchanged confused glances, and started eating.
Just as Ron and Luna had settled down and continued eating again, Ginny showed up with Dean in tow.
“Hey!” Ginny greeted them, taking a seat next to Hermione. “Everything all set?” She whispered to her, and Hermione nodded.
Ginny, of course, was talking about the Halloween party for the sixth and seventh years that would be going on after this. Hermione had spent all afternoon setting up, and it was sure to be fun.
The feast finished, and while the fifth year and younger students went back to their common rooms, the sixths and seventh years headed into a large classroom.
The classroom had been turned into something that looked like a lounge. There were no desks or chairs or chalkboards. Instead there were couches and tables with butterbeer and candy. The lights were dimmed, and music from the WWN played in the background.
The students entered the room and immediately broke off into groups of people. They grabbed couches and food, and some even danced.
Harry and Hermione found a couch in the corner, claimed it theirs, and started snogging. Ginny and Dean went over to a group of Ginny’s friends and started talking with them. Ron and Luna sat down on an empty couch at the opposite end of the room from Harry and Hermione.
Ron looked at them disgusted.
Luna, noticing this, quietly said, “You used to fancy her, didn’t you?”
Ron just shrugged. “Yes and no, I guess. As soon as I found out Harry liked her, I knew there’d never be a chance for me. Anyone would pick The Boy Who Lived over is stupid friend any day.”
“I wouldn’t,” Luna whispered.

Hermione ran her hands through Harry’s messy black hair. His lips were gentle on hers, and she could tell he was elsewhere. She pulled away. “Harry?” she asked. “What’s wrong?”
Harry, surprised by this question, said, “Nothing,” and reattached his lips to hers. A minute later her broke away again. “Do you want to go somewhere else? Somewhere more…private?”
Hermione grinned. “Okay,” she whispered. Harry pulled her up from the couch and they left the room.
***
“So really,” said Luna after taking a sip of butterbeer, “what’s the problem?”
“Problem? There’s no problem,” Ron lied.
Luna rolled her eyes. “Ron, I know you well enough by now to know that there is a problem. What is it?”
Ron sighed. “Fine. It’s just…oh never mind it’s stupid.”
“It can’t be that stupid if it’s bugging you this much.”
Ron glared at her before sighing again and saying, “Okay. Fine. It’s just that…ever since Harry and Hermione have started going out, I’ve barely seen or talked to them besides from classes, but even then they’re in their own little world. I’d just like to have my best friends back, that’s all.”
Luna nodded. “That’s perfectly understandable. Would you like me to talk to them or something?”
To her surprise, Ron nodded. “Yeah. That would be really great.”
“Okay,” Luna’s smile turned into a yawn. “I’m tired. I think I’ll leave and go back to my dorm…it’ll be nice and quiet for me to sleep with everyone else down here.”
“Okay, goodnight,” Ron said.
“Goodnight Ron,” Luna said. And then she kissed him on the cheek and danced out of the room.
Ron touched the spot where her lips had touched his skin and smiled slightly. Five minutes later and slightly dazed, he got up and left too.
***
Hermione pulled Harry inside her dorm and shut the door behind them. The lights still off, they made their way to her bed. Hermione took a deep breath, wrapped her arms around Harry’s neck and kissed him. He kissed her back, moving so that they were kneeling on the bed.
Hermione’s hands were slightly shaky as she unlocked her arms from around his neck. She slid her fingers down his shoulders and pulled off his robe. Then her hands found his tie, and she slipped it over his head, unlocking her lips from his for only a second. Then her shaky fingers found the buttons on his shirt. She fumbled with them as she tried to undo them.
Harry brought his lips to her collar bone and reached his hands around her to take off her robe. He heard her sigh as he trailed a line of kisses up her neck to the corner of her mouth before kissing her lips again. He pushed her back on the bed, sliding his hands a little ways up her shirt. She smoothed her hands over his chest under his now unbuttoned shirt. They rolled over so that Hermione could be on top.
***
Ron entered the heads’ common room. As he walked quietly across the floor, he heard Hermione giggle from her room. He glanced at her door, then shook his head and entered his own room. He lay down on his bed, still fully dressed, and, with thoughts of Luna skipping through is head, drifted of to a deep sleep.
***
The next day, November the first, was a Friday, and, as a treat to all students, classes were cancelled for that day. Everyone, especially the sixth and seventh years, were overjoyed by this fact.
Harry spent all day sprawled out on Hermione’s bed asleep. Someone had spiked the butterbeer last night, and they both had huge headaches. Hermione had gotten up and gotten some food from the kitchens for them, and on her way back, she ran into Luna.
“Hermione!” called Luna as she ran to catch up to her.
“Oh,” Hermione turned around and waited for the quirky girl to catch up before she said anything else. “Hey, Luna, what’s up?” she said groggily.
“Oh nothing, just wanted to talk to you about something. Are you okay?” she asked as an afterthought.
“Oh, yeah, fine. Someone spiked the butterbeer last night.”
Luna smiled and nodded. “I had a feeling that might happen. Good thing I didn’t drink much last night.”
“Lucky you,” Hermione grimaced.
“So anyways, what I wanted to talk to you about was Ron.”
Hermione looked at Luna more closely. “You have my permission to date him. See you,” she turned and started to walk away.
“That’s not what I mean,” Luna said giggling, grabbing Hermione’s arm and turning her around again. “Although I wouldn’t mind…” she added as an afterthought. She shook her head and cleared it of the fantasy she so much desired. “What I mean is, I’ve been talking to Ron a lot lately and he’s seemed a bit upset. Last night he told me it was because you and Harry had pretty much ignored him since you started dating, and he thinks he just lost his two best friends.”
“Oh,” Hermione looked down at her shoes.
“So, please, just talk to him. Both you and Harry. Just because you and Harry are dating now doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have time for anyone else. People are starting to think you’re too stuck up to do anything else. If you haven’t noticed, you’ve been missing your head girl patrol duties for the past few weeks.”
“I-I have?” Hermione asked, shocked.
“Mhm,” Luna nodded. “I definitely wouldn’t expect that from you, Hermione Granger.”
“I wouldn’t expect that from myself either,” Hermione whispered.
Luna smiled smugly and withdrew her hand from Hermione’s arm. “So you’ll talk to Ron? And start taking your duties seriously again?”
“Absolutely,” Hermione nodded. And with that, she bid Luna goodbye and went to join Harry again in her room.
When she got there Harry sitting on her bed, a glass of water in his hands. He turned to look at her when she entered, and gave her a weak smile.
“Hi,” she said, returning a weak smile to his. “Luna talked to me…about Ron,” she said, and then proceeded to tell Harry everything Luna had told her.
“I feel terrible,” Harry muttered when she had finished.
“Me too.”
“We should talk to him.”
Hermione nodded. “But tomorrow. I’m not feeling up to it today.” She kissed Harry quickly and then got under her covers and buried her head in her pillows and fell fast asleep. Harry joined her a few seconds later.

Chapter Six: An Unexpected Announcement
“Hi, Ron,” said Harry later that night as he poked his head into Ron’s room.
“Oh. Hey, Harry,” Ron said, looking up from a letter he was writing. He tried to smile but it looked more like a grimace.
“So…” Harry said, trying to start a conversation. “Quidditch practice tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to that?”
“Sure.”
Harry sighed. “Look, Ron, I know I haven’t been the greatest friend since me and Hermione started going out.”
“You’re not kidding. You barely talk to me anymore. I thought when I gave you my idea for this whole plan thing that you would just get a girlfriend…I didn’t think you would drop me like that.”
“I’m really sorry Ron. Really. Hermione and I…well, we haven’t acted much like friends…it’s just…I — we — are really sorry.”
Ron decided that this would probably be the best sort of apology he’d get, so he took it, and said, “Okay. It’s good now.”
Harry smiled. “So anyways…you and Luna eh? Getting pretty close?”
Ron blushed a bit. “She’s not so loony when you get to know her. Well, I mean, she’s not completely normal, but she’s really nice to talk to.”
Harry nodded, understanding. “It’s good you’ve got someone like her.”
“Yeah. So…how’re things with Hermione?”
“Really great. I can’t believe I ever imagined myself with other girls like Cho Chang. Hermione is so much better.”
Ron laughed.
***
November grew colder with every passing day. Harry and Hermione grew closer, as did Ron and Luna and Ginny and Dean. Homework also became harder. Quidditch practices became tougher; Harry wanted to win the cup this year since it was his last. As November turned to December, Hogwarts was turned into a winter wonderland. It was so beautiful that Dumbledore thought, why not share this beauty with others? And with that, an announcement was made.
“May I have your attention please, students,” Dumbledore said one evening after the dessert was cleared from the tables. The students quickly quieted down, eager to hear what was about to be said. Dumbledore smiled. “I have a very special and exciting announcement. Yesterday, something terrible occurred.” Quizzical expressions replaced the ones of excitement on the faces of the students. How could something terrible be special and exciting?
Dumbledore continued, “A fire swept the halls of Salem School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Hogwarts’ sister school in North America, in the middle of the night. Everyone is safe, but the school is no more. Thus, I have been in contact with their headmistress, my cousin, Headmistress Kingman. We have decided that the students of Salem School will be coming here in one week to complete their studies until the school is rebuilt.”
Conversation and shouts of excitement suddenly broke out in the Great Hall. Dumbledore smiled and raised his hands, and the hall was quiet once again. “Therefore, I will need our Head Boy and Girl and the prefects to meet me outside the prefect meeting room after my announcements are finished.”
“There’s more?” whispered Hermione to Harry. He shrugged.
“This last announcement will be a treat, especially for all of our Quidditch players.” Dumbledore’s eyes sparkled. “This year, instead of playing games all year, each house Quidditch team will receive special training from one of four professional Quidditch teams, and then we will have a tournament at the end of the year.”
The Great Hall erupted in cheers, mostly from the Quidditch teams and Quidditch fans. Once everyone was quiet, Dumbledore went on.
“The four teams that will be joining us here at Hogwarts for the remainder of the year are: The Cudley Cannons,” Ron’s face lit up in happiness, “Puddlemere United, The Holyhead Harpies, and the Bulgarian Team.”
Hermione’s stomach flipped and her face paled as Dumbledore said these last words. Harry’s fists clenched.
“Quidditch captains, please join me up here to pick your teams.” Harry rose, as did the other captains, and walked up to where Dumbledore stood. He smiled at all of them and held out the bag to the Hufflepuff captain who stuck his hand in and pulled out a dark green stone. “Holyhead Harpies,” he said, and then moved over so that the Ravenclaw captain could choose.
She stuck her hand in and pulled out a navy blue stone; Puddlemere United. Draco Malfoy, the Slytherin captain stuck his hand in and pulled out a maroon stone. He grinned. “Bulgaria,” he said, and the Slytherin’s erupted in cheers, as did Ron.
There was only one team left, and Harry pulled out an orange stone. “The Chudley Cannons,” he said, and glanced at Ron who looked like he’d die of happiness.
“Well, there we have it!” cried Dumbledore happily. “The Quidditch teams will be arriving two days after the students of Salem arrive. And now, I ask that all prefects and heads meet me outside the prefect meeting room, and that everyone else goes and gets a good night’s sleep.”
Outside Dumbledore’s office, Hermione met up with an ecstatic looking Ron, along with the other prefects.
“Excited much?” Hermione laughed at Ron, who was bouncing on his toes. She shook her head, thinking he might not be able to get too much sleep that night. He nodded, his smile almost touching his eyes.
Just then, Dumbledore got there and opened the door for them and lead them inside.
The room was very plain. In the middle there was a long table with chairs down both sides for the prefects, the two at the very end for the heads. At the end by the head chairs was the chair for Dumbledore or McGonagall, whoever was running the meeting. Behind that was a blackboard with ideas for the year and possible Hogsmead trips scribbled on it. There were also bulletin boards around the room with notices and announcements and other things from past years.
Hermione took her seat at the end of the table across from Ron and beside Dumbledore and Brianna, another Gryffindor prefect who was also Ginny’s best friend in her year.
“So,” Dumbledore started as soon as everyone was settled. “I assume you all are very excited for Christmas, now that we have people coming.” His eyes sparkled as people nodded and laughed. Dumbledore smiled. “I will need you to plan a few things, such as the welcome feast when Salem arrives and then another one when the Quidditch teams arrive. I was also thinking of something to get people to get to know each other a bit…such as a winter dance.”
Everyone started to whisper to the person sitting next to him or her. Dumbledore cleared his throat, and everyone was quiet again. “I was thinking something wintery…but, it’s up to you. Just let me know when you’ve decided everything. Oh, and I think just fourth years and up, like the Yule Ball. You can maybe organize something smaller for the younger children, if you wish. And now, I’ll leave you with your Head Boy and Girl in charge.” Dumbledore winked at Ron and Hermione, and walked swiftly out of the room.
Ron glanced at Hermione, and she met his gaze. “Okay…” she said slowly, her eyes still on Ron. “Anyone have any ideas?”
Brianna spoke up from beside her. Brianna was a bubbly blonde who always had something to say about everything. “I was thinking, maybe we should do something wintery, like Dumbledore said. Something like, ice palacy. Sort of…winter fairy tail-ish.” She said, flipping her long blonde hair over her shoulder.
“I like that idea, Bri,” Hermione said. “Anyone have any objections?” Nobody said anything. “Okay, then our theme is Winter Fairy Tail Ice Palace,” she said, getting up. She waved her wand and cleared everything off of the board. They would need the whole thing now. She picked up the chalk and wrote the words on the board in big letters at the top. Then she said, “Okay, we’ll need to split into groups for things we’ll need like decorations, a band, food, invitations, stuff like that.”
Everyone was silent. Brianna rolled her eyes. “Hermione, not to be rude or anything, but maybe, since this theme was my idea I could help run it?”
Hermione sighed a sigh of relief that someone else was going to help take charge. Ron looked as lost as the shy Hufflepuff fifth year prefect.
“Great idea,” she said, and Brianna smiled and hopped up to join Hermione at the front.

A/N: This chapter is too long to post at once, so here's the second part. Enjoy!
“Okay. So, let’s start with bands. I was thinking the Weird Sisters…I know they were here for the Yule Ball, and that they were awesome, so it’d be really cool to get them again. Who wants to be in charge of that?” she said as Hermione wrote ‘Band’ and underneath it, ‘Weird Sisters’ on the board. A Slytherin sixth year raised his hand. “Brianna pointed at him. “Okay, since there are a lot of up we’ll go with our prefect partners. So Blake, you and Ebony will be in charge of getting the band.” Hermione wrote their names on the board underneath ‘Weird Sisters’.
“Next we’re going to need invitations. I think four people should do that, since there’s going to be a lot.” Everyone looked to his or her partner. Finally it was confirmed that the Ravenclaws (both fifth and sixth year prefects) would be doing that.
“Food,” Brianna said simply, and decided on the Hufflepuff and Slytherin fifth years. Then she went on to “Decorations. I think that’ll be everyone else, since it’s a big job.” She sighed and looked at the board. “Okay. I think that should be everything. I guess Ron, Hermione and I will be here if you need any help or have questions,” she glanced sideways at Hermione, who nodded and though, she’ll make a good head girl next year, and then continued, “And we’ll also be doing the decorations and giving you our ideas and such. And if anyone else has ideas, then feel free to share.”
“Is that all?” Hermione asked when she had finished. Brianna grinned and nodded. “Okay then, dismissed. Ravenclaws, I want a sample of your invite by next Friday before curfew. Slytherin sixth years, please try and book the band A.S.A.P., and if you cant get the Weird Sisters, then go for the next best band. Hufflepuff and Slytherin fifth years, I want a list of food by next Friday before curfew. And everyone else doing decorations, we’ll meet here next Friday after supper to discuss ideas and such.” She took a deep breath. “Okay, everyone, you can go now.”
***
Harry sat on his bed in his dormitory, thinking. So much had just happened. A new school was going to be staying here the rest of the year? The Chudley Cannons were going to be coaching his Quidditch team? Viktor Krum was going to be here?
Harry groaned with the last thought and laid back, his head hitting the pillows. Viktor Krum was Hermione’s old…boyfriend? He wasn’t sure how far they’d gotten, or if it had just been a sort of…fling. He knew they had kept in touch, but writing letters was different than talking to each other face-to-face.
He knew he would pummel Krum if he made any kind of move with Hermione. Or, at least he’d try to…he wasn’t sure how well he’d succeed…Krum was HUGE.
And why did he have to pick the Chudley Cannons to coach their team? He wanted to win, didn’t he? And the Chudley Cannons were notoriously known for losing. So what if they were Ron’s favourite? Harry wanted to win!
And what if Hermione met some really smart, handsome guy from Salem? Or Viktor Krum? What if she ditched Harry for him? Harry didn’t want to think of that happening. He knew she wouldn’t. Or would she?
Speak of the devil…
“Hey,” Hermione poked her head in the door.
Harry grinned. Sort of. “Hey,” he muttered.
“What’s wrong?” Hermione said, making her way over to Harry.
“What? Oh, nothing.” He moved over, making room for her on his bed and she lay down beside him.
There were a few minutes of silence. Then Hermione said, “Harry, you know there’s nothing going on between Viktor and I. I’m with you now. I love you, and you know that.”
Harry sighed. He knew she’d figure it out. “It’s just…he’s older, he’s a professional Quidditch player, not to mention he better looking—”
“Harry! I can’t believe you’d say that! No one is better looking in my eyes than you!”
Harry blushed slightly. “Okay. I guess you’re right. I’m over reacting.”
“I’m always right Harry.”
Harry grinned. “So I’m never right?”
“Nope.”
“Not even some of the time?”
“Nope. Never.”
“Ouch. Way to bruise my ego.”
“Aw. I’m sorry. Shall I kiss it better?”
“Yes, please.”

Chapter Seven: Salem School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
Dumbledore raised his arms during dinner a week later. The hall fell silent, and he began to speak. “I have just received news from my cousin, Headmistress Kingman, from Salem School. They will be arriving here tomorrow.”
Everyone turned to their neighbour and whispered excitedly to them. Well, not really whispered, more like shouted.
“Silence!” Dumbledore called, and everyone was silent. “Now, due to the fact that they will be arriving tomorrow, there will be no classes.” He raised his hands and frowned at the few students who dared to talk. “Now, your Heads of House know everything, and they will be explaining it to you in your common rooms after I am done here. So, that being said, everyone is to return directly to their common rooms. Dismissed.”
“Oh, I’m so excited!” gushed Luna as she got up from the Gryffindor table. “I’ll see you tomorrow, then, Ron!” She stood on her tip-toes and kissed his cheek, then skipped off to join the other Ravenclaws as the headed to their common room.
Ron chuckled, and watched her go. Then he turned around and found Harry, Hermione, Ginny, and Dean, and they made their way to the common room.
***
“Alright, then,” said Professor McGonagall once every Gryffindor student was present in the common room. “As you know, Salem School is arriving tomorrow. I want you all to give them a warm Gryffindor welcome.” She looked down at the sheet of parchment she was holding in her hand and smiled slightly. “Ah. Right. What you probably didn’t know, was that the founders of Hogwarts also created Salem.
“They spent their time traveling between schools, making sure everything was going accordingly. Therefore, since they were also the founders of Salem, Salem uses the same house names as we do here at Hogwarts.
“Because we want you all to become good friends, each of your dormitories has been enlarged to hold ten people, not just five. It works out well because Salem also takes the same amount of students that Hogwarts does.
I think that is all. We will be having a feast tomorrow night, and after that,” she glanced at Ron and Hermione who nodded, “there will be a prefect meeting in the meeting room. Now, you can all go upstairs, and I suggest that you have a good nights sleep, since tomorrow will be a big day.” Professor McGonagall left the common room, and everyone started talking.
Ginny yawed. “I think I’m going to go to bed. I’m beat, and I want to be wide awake for tomorrow.” She kissed Dean goodnight on the cheek, waved to the others, and went up to her dorm.
It was not so different than it had been before. It was twice the size, with five more beds and wardrobes, but other than that it was the same. Ginny found her bed easily, it was the only one not made, and after changing into her pyjamas she fell fast asleep.
***
Back down in the common room, Harry and Dean said goodnight to Ron and Hermione, and they each went their own ways to their dorms.
***
The next morning, Hermione woke to sun filling her room. She sighed, smiled, and stretched, and then got up to look outside. It had apparently snowed over night, and the castle grounds looked like a winter wonderland. It was the perfect day for having no classes. Everyone would be outside, taking advantage of the newly fallen snow.
Hermione got up, got dressed, and went down to breakfast where all of her friends were already waiting, Luna included.
“Hurry up and eat, Hermione,” Ron said through mouthfuls of oatmeal. “We’re going to go out and have a snowball fight.”
Hermione chortled to herself as she kissed Harry and sat down beside him. She grabbed a piece of toast and buttered it.
“I really can’t wait for Salem to get here,” gushed Ginny. “You guys should’ve seen the rooms, they were huge!”
“Yeah,” agreed Dean.
Once everyone was done eating, they went to their own dorms to get ready to go outside. They all changed into muggle clothes (jeans and the sweaters Mrs. Weasley had knit for them from past Christmases), put warming charms on themselves so they wouldn’t get too cold, and met outside.
“Okay, teams,” said Harry once they were all gathered. Neville and Seamus had decided to join them aswell.
“I vote girls against boys!” cried Ginny.
“You think you can beat us?” laughed Ron.
“Uh, yeah,” said Ginny mater-of-factly.
“Ha! Yeah right. Okay, fine, girls against guys,” said Ron.
“But wait, there are only three girls and five guys. We get Neville,” said Luna, grabbing his arm and pulling him over to their side.
Ron shrugged. “Okay, ten minutes to get ready. GO!” he shouted, and everyone ran to their own side.
Ten minutes later, snowball after snowball after snowball was fired, until Ginny had Ron in a headlock and he surrendered. Laughing, they decided to go in, change, and have some lunch.
***
At four o’clock in the afternoon, McGonagall’s voice rang through the halls of Hogwarts, announcing that the students of Salem School had arrived.
Hermione and Harry, who were in Hermione’s room making out, sprang apart, fixed their hair (well, Hermione did anyways) and walked into the common room where Ron, Luna, Ginny, Dean, Seamus, and Neville sat.
“Let’s go, guys! Oh, I’m so excited to meet them!” Hermione gushed as they ran out of the common room.
***
The students of Salem School arrived the way that the Hogwarts students would if they were coming to school at the start of the year or coming back from Christmas holidays. They came by train, and then by carriages pulled by invisible horses, which were actually Thestralls, though you could only see them if you had seen death, so not many people could.
They were lead up the path by their Headmistress, Professor Kingman, who ran to Dumbledore to great him.
There were as many students exactly as there was in Hogwarts. Dumbledore told the Hogwarts students to go to their dormitories to await their new roommates, while the students from Salem went to the Great Hall. Dumbledore beckoned Ron, Hermione, and the other prefects to the Great Hall as well.
Ron and Hermione said goodbye to the others, and made their way to the Great Hall.
Once there, they stood with the teachers, Dumbledore, and Headmistress Kingman while the students from Salem took seats at their house tables.
“Welcome to Hogwarts,” beamed Dumbledore to the new students. “You will be rooming with the children in your year and house. The prefects,” me motioned to the prefects standing beside him, “will show you there after I am done. We have one rule that must be obeyed here at Hogwarts, and that is that the Forbidden Forest is strictly forbidden.” There were a few sniggers when this was said, but Dumbledore paid no attention to them.
“You will attend the classes you have been taking at Salem. I trust that, even if you are ahead, you will not miss any.
“Tonight we will be having a welcome feast, so I encourage you all to join us for that. Also, in two weeks time we will be having a Christmas Ball, so any who wish to stay for that are welcomed. The ball is for fourth years and up, although years one to three may go if an older student asks them.
“And lastly, in two days, four professional Quidditch teams will be joining us to coach our teams. We will be having a tournament at the end of the year, and Quidditch captains, if you have any questions, feel free to ask the captains of the Hogwarts house teams.
“And now, I believe that is all. Prefects,” he turned to the prefects standing on his left, “Please show the Salem students in your house to their common rooms and dorms.”

A/N: here's the next part!
“Okay, so, this is the entrance to the Gryffindor common room,” said Hermione as they reached the portrait of the Fat Lady. “The password is Chudley Cannons, since that’s the Quidditch team that will be coaching Gryffindor this year.” The Fat Lady nodded to all of them, smiled, and swung her portrait forward.
The Salem students and prefects entered the common room. “Okay,” said Brianna, taking the floor from Hermione, “boys on your right, girls on your left. Your dormitory will have your names on the door.”
The students raced to see their new dorms, until only Ron, Hermione, and two students that looked to be their age stood there.
“You should go and see your dorm,” said Hermione, smiling.
“But we’re head boy and girl. You don’t honestly expect us to share with the others in our year, do you?” said the girl. She had straight black hair, the ends dyed hot pink, that reached just above her shoulders with side-swept bangs. Her skin was tanned and her eyes were dark purple, and she wore heavy makeup.
“Oh,” said Hermione, and she looked at Ron who shrugged. Were they supposed to share their dorms?
Just as Hermione was about to say something, Professor McGonagall walked in. “Oh good,” she said, heaving a sigh of relief, “you’re still here. The head boy and girl’s dorms have been added to your common room,” she said, looking at Ron and Hermione. “I trust you can show them the way?”
They nodded, and McGonagall left, leaving the four of them standing there.
“You might as well tell us your names, since we’ll be working together the rest of this year,” said the Salem head girl.
Hermione blushed. “This is Ron, and I’m Hermione.”
“I’m Adiana and this is Adrian,” she said.
“Nice to meet you. Now common, you probably want to see your rooms,” said Hermione, and they were off.
***
That night there was a feast to welcome the students from Salem. The tables were all twice the size so that they could hold twice as many students. There was lots of talk about meeting new people, and late that night, after house welcome parties in the common rooms, everyone went to sleep full and quite happy.

Chapter Eight: The Return of Viktor Krum
Two days after the students from Salem arrived, a Sunday, to be exact, four Quidditch teams arrived.
Shouts of praise and screams of marriage proposals greeted them. They signed autographs on their way in, and were then showed their dormitories which were on the highest floor of the school (the floor with the least classrooms).
After another feast of delicious food, everyone went to bed happy and full, looking forward to the next day.
***
“Hi, Harry Potter, captain of the Hogwarts Gryffindor team,” Harry said, sticking his hand out to the captain of the Salem Gryffindor team.
“Branton Coors,” said the other boy, shaking Harry’s hand.
Just then, the Chudley Cannons walked onto the pitch, and Ron yelped with glee. The captain introduced himself as Dragomir Gorgovitch, and then introduced the rest of the team.
Harry and Branton introduced their teams, and then they just had a normal practice, the three captains and the members of the Chudley Cannons on the ground, shouting plays and suggestions to the players.
Two hours later, their first practice ended, and they all headed to change. All except for Ron, who ran up to the Chudley Cannons and asked for their autographs. He got every single one.
***
Harry shoved the door open, walked in, and slammed it shout, then fell onto Hermione’s bed and let out a groan.
“Harry! How was practice?” she said, throwing her book aside.
“HORRIBLE!” Harry cried into her comforter.
“Shh…not so loud! Ron’ll hear you!”
He lifted his head and moved onto the bed so that he was sitting across from her.
“They are the WORST team ever!” Harry whisper-shouted. “They plays the suggest…ugh!” he groaned.
Hermione sighed. “Harry, don’t think of that now. You know your team is great, it won’t matter if they’re taught by the Chudley Cannons…you’ll still win. I know it.”
“No we won’t,” Harry mumbled.
“Here,” Hermione said seductively, “let me take your mind off of it.” She pushed him back onto the pillows and kissed him long and deep.
***
“Ugh, where is she?” Hermione mumbled to herself as she waited outside the Great Hall later that night after dinner. She was waiting for Brianna. They were going to talk about preparations for the Christmas Ball.
She heard footsteps coming down the hall, and turned to look. “It’s about time you got…” she stopped before she finished her sentence. It wasn’t Brianna. “Viktor!” Hermione cried.
“Herm-own-ninny!” Viktor Krum called to her as he walked faster down the hall. “I have been looking all over for you!” he pulled her into a bone crushing hug and kissed her cheeks.
“Oh, it’s so good to see you!” Hermione said, as politely as she could. She was that excited to see him.
“It’s so good to see you too!” he said in his thick Bulgarian accent.
“How…how have you been?”
“Oh, very good, very good,” and her proceeded to tell her about beating the Irish team in Quidditch two weeks ago.
Hermione just nodded, not taking in a word he was saying. Just as he was about to start talking about the after party, Hermione noticed a girl with blonde hair walking down the hall towards them.
“Brianna!” she cried, relieved to have an excuse to leave. “I’m sorry, Viktor, but I really have to go now. It was nice to see you…maybe we could talk later?” she asked as she slowly made her way down the hall to where Brianna had stopped.
“Alright,” Viktor said somewhat sadly.
“Oh thank god you got here,” Hermione whispered to Brianna as they walked down the hall. “I couldn’t stand another second with him!”
“What?” shrieked Brianna, and she got shushed by Hermione. “Sorry, what? You ditched a very hot, famous Quidditch player…for me?!”
“Yeah. I think I’m going to go to bed. We’ll have a prefect meeting tomorrow or something,” Hermione said, as she raced away to her dorm.
“Okay,” Brianna called, somewhat confusedly.
***
Hermione swung her door open and then slammed it shout, much the same way Harry had earlier that day. Harry, just happened to be sitting on her bed, reading the book she had been reading earlier.
“Harry!” she cried, and flung her arms around his neck, pressing her lips hard to his.
“Wow,” said Harry after a minute. “To what do I owe this pleasure?” he grinned.
“I ran into Viktor Krum!”
Harry’s grin turned into a frown. “Oh…if he didn’t anything to you I’m going to pummel him into the ground, dig him up and throw him to the Giant Squid!”
Hermione laughed. “No, I just said hi to him…but he wants to meet some time tomorrow to talk. I don’t want to meet him tomorrow!” she cried, flinging herself into Harry’s arms and kissing him again.
Again, Harry broke the kiss. “You don’t have to go, Hermione,” he said.
“Oh, shut up and just kiss me, Harry!”

MORE FLUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yepp..I just finished the first part of the next chapter. It's pretty long, actually. But I wont be posting it for a bit....I want another review first!! But anyways, the next chapter is ALL fluff. And I think I'm gonna change a little, cuz I only have Harry/Hermione...there's no Ginny/Dean or Ron/Luna or another couple that gets introduced in that chapter

ewalklover
A/N: okay, here is chapter nine...part one! Yes, chapter nine is TWO parts! meaning it was waaaaay too long to put into one chapter. Also, this chapter (both parts) are purely fluff. Which is good, right? Part two will probably be up tomorrow afternoon. Enjoy, and please review!!
Chapter Nine, Part One: Preparations, Meetings, and Questions
“Hi,” Luna said the next morning to the girl in the bed beside her. She had woken up late, and her and the other girl were the last in their dorm.
“Good morning,” the other smiled. “I’m Theia, by the way, in case you forgot from last night.”
Luna smiled. “I’m Luna.”
Theia was a pretty girl, in a quirky sort of way. Like Luna. She had long, straight, white-blonde hair, and enormous blue eyes. She was sitting on her bed in her school robes which were practically identical to Luna’s.
“Hold on, let me get ready and then we can go down to breakfast. I’ll introduce you to my friends. They’re in Gryffindor.”
***
Fifteen minutes later, Luna and Theia entered the Great Hall together. Luna had described everyone perfectly to Theia while she was getting ready.
“So, that must be…Ron, right?” she said, pointing to the red-headed boy. “The one you have a crush on?”
“Shh!” Luna giggled as they got closer. “Hey, guys! This is Theia, one of my new roommates. I thought she could sit with us,” she said, sitting down beside Ron. Theia sat beside her. Luna introduced everyone, even though Theia already know who they were.
Theia took a liking to Neville, and, since she was also interested in plants, herbology, healing and such, they talked like they were old friends and hit it off.
***
“Okay, welcome to the Christmas Ball meeting,” Hermione said. She stood at the front of the room with Ron, Brianna, Adiana, and Adrian. Everyone went around the room and introduced themselves, since the prefects from Salem were present too.
“I think it would be good if the Salem prefects paired up with the Hogwarts prefects in their year in their house,” said Adiana. Hermione had filled her and Adrian in on everything that was going on about the ball. Hermione nodded, and people switched chairs so that they were sitting with their group.
“Okay, and now I’ll give the floor to Brianna,” Hermione said, and the heads stepped aside.
Brianna smiled. “Alrighty,” she said, flipping her hair over her shoulders. “So, last time we split into groups…” and she proceeded to tell them what they were doing. “So…Blake and Ebony? How’s it going with booking the Weird Sisters?” she turned to the sixth year Slytherins.
“Already done,” said Blake smugly.
Brianna beamed, and Hermione put a checkmark beside “band” on the black board. “Okay,” said Brianna. “Food. How’s that coming?” she said, turning to the Hufflepuff and Slytherin fifth years.
“We have a list. We just need to acquire the food,” said Evangeline, the Hufflepuff fifth year.
“And you’ll do that this coming Saturday.” Brianna looked at Hermione who nodded. “Okay, Saturday we’ll be going to Hogsmeade to get the things we need for the Ball, and then Sunday will be a Hogsmeade trip for everybody.
“Okay, invitations,” she turned to the Ravenclaws. “You’ll have to start making more, since we’ll have more than double the people,” she said. “Can I see one? Just to make sure we all like it.”
The sixth year Ravenclaw girl, Athena, got up and handed one to her. Brianna read it over. “Perfect,” she beamed, and passed it to the heads, who nodded.
“Okay, decorations will be the hardest part. I was thinking we should turn the Great Hall into a sort of ice palace—”
“I have an idea,” said Adiana. Brianna nodded for her to continue. “Why don’t we do an ice palace like you said, and have ice blue tablecloths and chair coverings, with icicles hanging from everything. And lots of Christmas trees, all decorated with the same shade of blue and silver ornaments.”
Brianna smiled. “I like that. Okay, so I’ll give you each a list of decorations to buy on Saturday,” she said. “And…that’s it! Hermione, anything else?”
“Um…no, I don’t think so. You guys can go!”
***
Everyone was excited about the Christmas Ball, even the Quidditch players who were also invited. People were pairing up left and right…after all, they only had a week and a half to find a date.
Hermione met Viktor Krum at his table for lunch the next day, as promised. She sat down across from him.
“Hi,” she smiled politely.
“Hello, Herm-own-ninny,” he said, getting up and kissing her cheeks again. Hermione blushed. Why was it he could make her feel this way?!
***
Harry watched Hermione and Krum from the Gryffindor table. He frowned and clenched his fists together when Krum kissed Hermione’s cheeks.
“Harry,” said Ginny in a calming voice, “calm down. You know she’s over Krum and that she’s in love with you.”
Harry, still fuming, sat down. He proceeded to eat his lunch, until someone came up and tapped him on the shoulder. He turned around to look into the smiling faces of Oliver Wood and Angelina Johnson.
Harry dropped his fork and stood up. “Hey! What are you guys doing here?” he said, shaking Oliver’s hand and hugging Angelina.
“We play! I signed onto Puddlemere United, and Angie’s on the Holyhead Harpies,” Oliver said, using a nickname for Angelina that Harry had never heard before. “Believe me, it’s annoying to coach the other team houses,” he said, grimacing.
Harry laughed. “It was really nice to see you guys, but I should probably get to class,” he said as he noticed Ron and Neville waiting for him.
“Okay, see you, Harry!” Angelina said, and grabbing Oliver’s hand, she towed him off.
So that’s why he called her Angie, thought Harry, smiling, as he watched them go. He shot a glance towards Hermione and Krum who were still talking. Hermione looked shocked.
***
“What?” Hermione said, stunned.
“I asked you if you vould like to go to the Christmas Ball vith me,” Viktor said, looking her straight in the eye.
“Oh. Um. Viktor, I’m sorry but I can’t. I don’t know if you know this, although I’m guessing you don’t, but anyways, Harry is my boyfriend. So I’m going with him.”
Viktor raised his eyebrows. “The Boy Who Lived, then, eh? Alright. I vill just ask someone else, Herm-own-ninny. Do you know anyone else who vould enjoy going vith me?”
“Yeah…maybe ask Lavender Brown, she’d love to go with you,” Hermione smirked.
“Alright.” Viktor look over at Harry who was standing a little ways away, and turned back to Hermione. “You should go. Harry doesn’t look to happy.” Hermione stood up, and Viktor kissed her again, making her blush.
“Bye,” she whispered, and ran off to Harry.
“Hey,” she said when she got to him.
Harry didn’t say anything. They walked to Potions class in silence.
***
By the end of the day, Hermione was fed up with Harry giving her the silent treatment. She pushed him into her dorm, ignoring the questioning looks she was getting from Ron, Luna, Theia, Neville, Adiana, and Adrian who were sitting around the fireplace.
“Okay, Harry, enough is enough. What is your problem?!” she yelled after putting a charm on the door so that no one could hear them.
“My problem?! What’s Krum’s problem? You didn’t tell him we were dating did you?!”
“As a matter of fact, I did!”
“So then why was he kissing you?!”
“It was a friendly kiss, Harry! Get over it!”
“Get over it? I can’t get over it! He KISSED you!”
“But it meant NOTHING to ME Harry! I don’t have any feelings whatsoever for Viktor!”
“Sure,” Harry muttered.
“You know what? You’re acting just like Ron did in fourth year!”
“Yeah, except I have an actual excuse! YOU’RE MY BLOODY GIRLFRIEND!”
Hermione stared at him open mouth. “Then trust your BLOODY girlfriend and believe me when I say I love YOU, not KRUM!” she shouted, using his last name for the first time in years.
Harry and Hermione just stood there, breathing hard, looking each other in the eyes. Then Harry rushed towards Hermione in two large strides, pushed her down onto her bed, and kissed her. She responded by opening her mouth and kissing him back, shoving her hands in his hair.
They “made up” for a long time.

Chapter Nine, Part Two: Preparations, Meetings, and Questions
Saturday passed in a whirlwind tizzy, and soon it was Sunday, and everyone was shopping for the ball. The girls went with the girls, and the guys went with the guys.
Hermione, Adiana, Luna, Theia, Ginny, and Brianna made their way down one of the more empty streets. There were a few less popular clothing stores on that street.
“Come on, let’s go in here,” Hermione said. She and Ginny had been in here before, and they knew the shop owner, Celesta, a past Head Girl of Hogwarts. The girls entered the shop, which was empty.
“Hi, Celesta!” called Hermione. A young blonde witch came down the stairs at the back, a smile plastered to her face.
“Hey!” she called to them, coming over and hugging Hermione and Ginny. “How are you girls?”
“Really good,” said Ginny. “Celesta, these are our friends Luna and Brianna, and these are our other friends from Salem Adiana, and Theia. Guys, this is Celesta. They’re all looking for dresses too. Well, all of them except for Brianna, she already has hers.” Brianna had asked her mom, an editor for Teen Witch Weekly to order her an extremely expensive dress from Paris.
“Nice to meet you girls.” Celesta smiled. “Hermione, Ginny, I put some dresses aside for you, like you asked. They’re by the fitting rooms.” Hermione and Ginny giggled and went to look. Celesta turned to Adiana and looked her up and down. “Darling, I have the perfect dress for you. Come,” she led her to a rack and pulled off a short black dress.
“I love it!” gushed Adiana, feeling the fabric of the dress. It was a halter dress, and the straps were thick ribbon. The dress was open at the back, and was laced up with red ribbon. The top was tight, and the bottom puffed out. There was a big red ribbon on the side that tied into a bow. “Can I try it on?”
“Of course, darling!” Celesta said, showing Adiana to a fitting room.
Hermione and Ginny seemed to know what they were doing, and were already trying on dresses, so Celesta went to help Luna and Theia.
“Do you girls need any help?” Celesta asked.
Theia looked scared. “I’ve never needed a dress like this. There’s so many of them…I don’t know where to start!”
Celesta laughed. “It’s alright, hon, I’ll help you. Why don’t you try these?” she went over to a rack and picked out a midnight blue dress and red dress, both the same style. They were very short, and would probably come to only mid-thight. They were strapless, with a ribbon at the top and a bow at the side on the top. The bottom part was scrunched up at the side and held with a little diamond pin.
“I like the blue one,” Theia said. Celesta showed her a fitting room, and she tried it on.
Just then, Adiana came out of the fitting room with her dress on. It fit perfectly. “I love it!” she cried, hugging Celesta.
Celesta laughed. “Okay, take it off and meet me up at the front desk.” She then went to check on Luna who was staring at a lemon yellow dress.
“Good choice,” Celesta said, coming up behind her. The dress was lemon yellow, v-necked, and had black lace at the neckline and hem. The middle was scrunched together. “Go try it on,” she said, showing her a room.
Theia and Ginny came out at the same time. Theia’s dress was perfect, as was Ginny’s, which was emerald green. It looked somewhat like a 60’s dress. It was a halter dress, and the top was tight. The bottom flared out and finished just above the knee. Celesta smiled at them as Hermione came out.
Her dress was definitely the fanciest. As head girl, naturally, she had to have the best dress of all. It was dark purple and v-necked, with thicker spaghetti straps. The top was tight and the bottom puffed out and went to the floor. It was sort of princess style.
Everyone was speechless.
“Is it really that bad? Because I had a backup dress…” Hermione started.
“Hermione…you look like a princess,” said Luna. Everyone else just nodded, at a loss for words.
Hermione sighed, relieve. “Oh thank god. I love this dress.”
***
“Harry just get the black ones,” Ron said, sighing. They had been in the store for and hour and a half. Ron, Adrian, Neville, Seamus, and Dean had all just gotton black ones, but Harry couldn’t decide on black or navy blue ones.
“But what if Hermione’s dress is black?” he asked nervously.
“Knowing Hermione, it won’t be,” Ron reassured him. “Now, common, buy those and lets go to the Three Broomsticks…I’m starved!”
***
The girls had just sat down in the Three Broomsticks with their butterbeer when the guys walked in. They waved them over.
“Hey,” said Harry, kissing Hermione. He noticed she had a bag, and he tried to look in it but she snatched it away.
“Ha! In your dreams Harry. Not until Wendesday!”
***
Luna sniffled. She was in the head’s common room, sitting on the couch in front of the fire. Hermione, knowing what was going on, had made everyone else leave, and had sent off to find Ron.
Speaking of him, Ron entered the common room. Luna looked up, saw that it was him, and burst into a new wave of tears.
“Luna! What’s the matter?” Ron asked, going over to sit beside her. He put an arm around her shoulders and she leaned into him.
“Do you like me, Ron?” she asked him.
“Of course I do, Luna, you’re like, my best friend.”
“Not like that! I mean, like like.”
“Oh…” Ron said, blushing a bit even though she couldn’t see his face. “I um…well…” he paused and took a deep breath. “Luna, would you go to the Christmas Ball with me?”
Luna lifted her head. “Really?” she whispered.
“Really.” Said Ron. Luna nodded, grinning, and Ron grinned back. Then, seeing as it seemed like a good enough time as any, he leaned forward and kissed her.
***
Neville found Theia sitting in a corner in the library. He cleared his throat, and she looked up, and smiled. “Oh. Hi, Neville!”
He was really no good at this at all. “Hey…um, Theia, I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go to the ball with me?”
“Oh, Neville, I’d love to!” she beamed.
“Great,” he smiled. He wasn’t nervous any more. “I’ll let you get back to your book then. See you,” he waved and walked off.
“Bye, Neville,” Theia waved to him.

No one could wait for the Christmas Ball.

A/N: Just for you, Lizzie, I'm posting now. This chapter is going to be sooo long!! Three parts to it! So without further ado, here's part one! Please review!
Chapter Ten, Part One: The Christmas Ball
The heads had left everything to the prefects. This was a test for them, to see who would do best. They did, after all, have a hand in choosing the next heads.
Even though they had decided not to, Hermione and Adiana couldn’t help but look in on the decoration of the Great Hall. It looked simply fantastic. Well, Brianna was in charge, right? So why wouldn’t it?
They walked back to their rooms, giggling about how amazing the Great Hall looked, and about how surprised everyone would be.
They went into Adiana’s room, which was bigger than Hermione’s. Luna, Ginny, and Theia were there, painting their nails. Hermione and Adiana sat down with them and started picking their colours.
“We just saw Bri,” said Hermione, “she said she’d be done in like, 20 minutes and that she’d meet us here.” Hermione pulled out her French manicure set.
“Oh, good. It’s not as much fun if we’re not all here,” said Ginny. Her nails were already done, so she began to paint Adiana’s with the same shade of red that was on her dress.
***
“I can’t believe they’re in there already!” said Ron as he, Harry, and Adrian entered the common room. They were going to play some Exploding Snaps before they had to get ready for the ball. Ron got down on his knees in front of the couch and began searching under the cushions for a pack of Exploding Snaps cards.
“They’re girls, what do you expect?” said Adrian in his funny accent.
“I tell you, I’ll never get over how weird your accent is,” stated Ron as he rummaged around. “AHA!” He pulled out a pack of cards.
“I could say the same to you,” Adrian laughed, taking the deck from Ron.
***
Twenty minutes later, Brianna walked in. The girls had all showered (Luna, Theia, and Ginny having done so before they came to Adiana’s room) and had painted their nails. They wanted to wait for Brianna before doing their hair and makeup, and putting on their dresses.
Brianna growled at them all when they said hi to her, and made her way to the bathroom. When she came out, she was smiling. Clearly, the shower had made her happy.
***
“I think we should go and get ready now,” said Harry. They had played four games of exploding snaps, and he didn’t want to be late for Hermione.
“Oh alright,” said Ron reluctantly.
“Hey, don’t you want to look good for Luna?” Harry teased. Adriana laughed as Ron grabbed a pillow and hit Harry continuously over the head with it.
***
Neville was dressed, his hair was combed nicely, his teeth were brushed…and now all he had to do was wait. He sat nervously on his four-poster bed in the seventh year’s boy’s dormitory in Gryffindor tower, fiddling with a pillow.
What if Theia stood him up? Would he go alone, and maybe find another date? Or would he come back here, and stay the night by himself? He liked her so much…he couldn’t bear if she didn’t show up…or worse, if she showed up with someone else.
He looked at the clock on his bedside table. 6:15, it read. It was time to go.
***
“Okay…DONE!” cried Ginny as she pinned the last piece of Luna’s hair with a bobby pin. It was half up, half down, and in the most perfect ringlets.
“Okay, guys, let’s go! I can hear the boys outside!” Adiana whisper-shouted, her ear pressed against the door.
They girls hurried out of Adiana’s room and entered…a deserted common room?
“They must have just left,” Hermione said. “Common, let’s go.”
They walked down to the Entrance Hall, passing gorgeous looking girls and very handsome looking guys.
“Oh, there’s Adrian! ADRIAN!” Adiana called to him, over the crowed. He turned to look at her, and smiled hugely as she ran over and gave him a hug. He picked her up and twirled her around.
Hermione smiled at them, and searched the crowds for Harry. Just as she was about to turn the corner to go down the steps to the hall leading to the Great Hall, a pair of hands covered her eyes.
“Guess who?” said someone with very big hands and a very thick Bulgarian accent.
Hermione giggled and blushed, reaching up to gently pull the hands away from her eyes. “Hello, Viktor!” she smiled, turning around to look him in the eyes. He still held her hand, and he brought it up to his lips and kissed it, never breaking eye contact with her.
“Hello, Herm-own-ninny,” he said.
“Um, you’ll have to excuse me, Viktor, I’m looking for Harry.”
“That’s all right. But vould you allow me to dance vith you? Just for one dance, is all.”
“Oh, um, of course. Yeah, sure,” Hermione said absentmindedly, her eyes scanning the hall for Harry. Her face lit up when she spotted him, and she left Viktor without another word.
“Harry!” she smiled at him, taking his hand and kissing him on the lips.
“Wow, Hermione, you look…” He looked her up and down, taking in the lowness of the neckline of her dress, the way it hugged her curves and then fanned out. “…absolutely beautiful, he finished.
Hermione giggle. “Well, you don’t look to shabby yourself!”
“Shall we?” Harry offered her his arm.
“We shall!” Hermione took his arm and he led her into the Great Hall.
***
“BOO!” cried a voice from behind her.
Brianna let out a scream and turned around. “NATHAN!” she yelled at her fellow sixth year prefect, slapping his arm while trying to keep a straight face.
He laughed at her and kissed her cheek. “Let’s go in,” Nathan said, taking her hands and dragging her into the Great Hall. Brianna looked back at Theia, Luna, Ginny, and Dean, who had just joined them, and rolled her eyes.
Ginny took Dean’s arm and followed them in, leaving Theia and Luna to look for their dates.
“Oh! There’s Neville!” Theia said. “See you inside, Luna!” she called to Luna as she made her way over to her date. Neville smiled at her when he noticed her, and together they went into the Great Hall.
***
Ron noticed Luna, standing there by herself now that Theia and Neville had just left her. They were some of the only ones left in the Entrance Hall. He smiled to himself when he noticed how bright her dress was, and went over.
“Hey,” he said, wrapping his arms around her waist.
She turned around, a smile lighting up her face. “Hey!” she hugged him quickly. “Common, everyone is already in there!” Luna pulled him into the Great Hall, and soon enough, they found their friends dancing on the dance floor to “Do the Hippogriff” by the Weird Sisters.

A/N: Well, this chapter wasnt as long as I'd hoped it'd be, but whatever. Here's the very short second part, which is really just a prologue to the next chapter...and in the next chapter, something really BIG happens, so keep waiting for that! Pretty pretty please, with a cherry on top, review!!
Chapter Ten, Part Two: The Christmas Ball
Hermione leaned her head on Harry’s shoulders. Her arms were around his neck, his around her waist. They had been dancing together almost all night, as had all of their friends.
There were Ron and Luna, gazing into each others eyes, and swaying to the music. Brianna, who was laughing at something Nathan had said. Theia and Neville who were sitting at a table, drinking butterbeer and talking.
Theia had sprained her ankle dancing, and, after visiting Madame Pomfrey, had decided to sit out for a bit. Neville, being the gentleman that he was, chose to sit with her.
There was also Ginny and Dean, who were snogging over in a corner. And then there were Adiana and Adrian. Adiana had here head on Adrian’s shoulder, like Hermione had hers on Harry’s. Adriana turned her head so that she could see Hermione and smiled. Hermione grinned back.
Hermione looked at all of the couples dancing on the floor. Her eyes found a particular pair, and she giggled. Oliver Wood spun his girlfriend, Angelina, around. Angelina caught Hermione’s eye and laughed.
Hermione’s eyes looked the Great Hall over, as they had many times before that night. She just couldn’t get over how good it looked. Almost like the Yule Ball…only about ten times better.
Just as she was about to close her eyes, a wall of red appeared in front of her. She lifted her head up, and noticed Viktor Krum standing there.
“Oh! Viktor!” she said, startled. She felt Harry’s arm’s retreat slightly from around her waist as he backed away from her to glare at Viktor.
“Hello, Herm-own-ninny. I vas vondering if I could have that dance you promised me now,” he said.
“Oh, um…actually Viktor, I was just about to tell Harry that I wasn’t feeling well. I think I’m going to go to bed,” she lied, looking at Harry.
“Oh,” Viktor looked upset.
“I’m sorry, maybe another time though,” she said, trying to get his spirits up.
He walked away without saying anything else.
Harry and Hermione walked out of the Great Hall, and as soon as they passed through the doors, they burst out laughing, and laughed non-stop until the got to Hermione’s dorm room.
There, they lay down on the bed and started making out. It could have been the spiked butterbeer or their love and wanting to be close, but that night, they took things a lot farther than planned.

A/N: And now, time for my favourite chapter so far!!! It's a very...calmly exciting chapter...if that makes any sense...well, just read it and it will. Hugs to everyone who reviews!
Chapter Eleven: The Morning After
The sun shone through the windows in Hermione’s room. She shut her eyes tighter, not wanting to get up yet. She decided she would get up anyways, and so she slipped out of bed and put on her pyjamas.
Just then, a wave of nausea swept over her, and she raced to her bathroom, covering her mouth while she ran.
She spent an hour and a half bent over the toilet until she was sure she would be okay. She hated hangovers. The funny thing was, though, that she didn’t have a headache.
Hermione picked up a glass, filled it with water, and took a long, slow, gulp of water.
“Hermione?” she heard Harry call from the bed.
“In here,” she replied in a raspy voice, her throat burning. She went back out. Harry, she noticed, had just pulled on his boxers and was getting back into bed.
“What’s up?” he asked her.
“Nothing, just a hangover from the butterbeer last night,” she said, getting into bed.
“But…Hermione, you didn’t drink any butterbeer last night. You were with me the whole time,” Harry said cautiously.
“What? Of course I did.”
“No, Hermione. You didn’t.”
Hermione looked at him with wide eyes, just as she was about to say something, she covered her mouth and ran to the bathroom again. Harry’s worried eyes followed her.
A few minutes later, she came out again. “You don’t think…” she started.
“How can you check?” Harry asked.
“I don’t know! I didn’t think this might happen!”
“Are you sure you did the spell right yesterday?”
“Of course!” Hermione shrieked.
“Just checking,” Harry muttered.
Hermione sighed. “I’ll be back in a bit.” She grabbed her robes, not bothering to change out of her pyjamas—no one would be up anyways, most of the first, second, and third years had gone home for Christmas, and everyone else would still be sleeping—and headed out to the library.
***
Ron looked at the girl in the bright yellow dress that was lying beside him. They hadn’t even bothered to change out of their dress robes or pull down the blankets last night; instead they had just fallen asleep on his bed. She stirred in her sleep, and, for a minute, he thought she was awake, but then she sighed happily, a smile plastered to her face, and kept Ron waiting for her to wake up.
***
Hermione picked a book off the shelf and flopped down in a chair. She furiously started flipping the pages until she found the one she wanted.
Uh-oh.
***
Adiana’s eyes opened slowly. She blinked them twice as she took in her surroundings. She had no idea where she was. She flipped over onto her back and rubbed her eyes. They still stung from crying so much last night.
***
Theia heard Adiana stir in the bed beside hers. Last night had been so…magical. She wasn’t sure if it had been real or not. But it must have been, since Adiana was still in Luna’s bed. That part of last night hadn’t been so…magical.
***
Nathan sat staring out of the window in the sixth year boy’s dormitory. Last night he and Brianna…well, they had simply gone too far. Drunk, they might have been, but that was still no excuse. He teared his eyes away from the falling snow to look at Brianna, still sleeping peacefully in his bed. They were the only ones in the dorm. He had no idea where the other boys were, but that didn’t really matter.
He just hoped he had done the spell right yesterday.
***
Taking a deep breath, Hermione muttered a spell under her breath. A gold orb appeared at the end of her wand. She blew on the orb. It slowly darkened to a blue.
A tear slipped from the corner of her eye as the orb disappeared.
***
“Did last night really happen?” Adiana whispered when Theia crawled into the bed beside her.
She nodded her head solemnly.
“Who was she?” Adiana asked, referring to redhead who she had caught Adrian snogging with.
“Ginny Weasley.”
***
Ginny’s eyes sprung open, and, as thought and images from last night began flooding her head, she squeezed them shut again, immediately regretting everything that had happened.
“Why had she drank the butterbeer when she knew it had been spiked? Why had she let Adrian snog her?
***
Harry paced Hermione’s room nervously, wringing his hangs as he waited for her to come back. Just as he was about to sit down (he was getting dizzy) The door opened.
“Well?” He asked Hermione, who stood there, tears running down her face.
***
“Hey,” Adrian mumbled to Neville as he sat down at the Gryffindor table for breakfast. They were the only ones in the Great Hall, which had been transformed to its usual state after last night, besides Professor Sinestra and Professor Sprout. “Sorry about making your date run off last night.”
Neville shrugged. After Adiana had caught Adrian and Ginny snogging she had started crying and yelling, and Theia, apologizing to Neville as she went, took her away to her dorm room to try and calm her down.
“Spiked butterbeer is really no good,” Arian muttered, and Neville smiled, despite the awkwardness.
“Just go apologize to her later. I’m sure she’ll forgive you,” he said.
“Right.”
***
Hermione was at a loss for words. How was she supposed to tell her boyfriend that she was pregnant? He’d probably leave her as soon as the words left her mouth.
No, he won’t, said a little voice at the back of her head. He’s Harry. Is Harry really the type of person to do that?
No. Hermione took a deep breath, and stopped her crying.
“Harry…I…I’m pregnant.”

A/N: I hate when people are upset and mad at each other. This chapter is pretty short, but that's because I've had to do homework so I havent had much time to write. This chapter was originally called Everything Will Be Alright, but I changed it to make it more Harry/Hermione. Enjoy!
Chapter Twelve: I Promise
Hermione sat in the heads’ common room later that afternoon. A book she had found in the library was propped open on her knees. Every now and then she withdrew a hand from the book and rubbed it over her stomach. She had let Harry use her room so that he could have some time to think everything over.
Just when Hermione was about to get up and go check on Harry, the portrait swung open and in walked Adiana, eyes still red and puffy.
“Hey,” she mumbled, coming over and sitting beside Hermione’s feet. She looked at the cover of the book, reading the title in her head. “Hermione…why are you…” she started to say, and then she paused, her eyes bulging. “You…you’re not…are you?”
“Am I what?”
“Are you…pregnant?” Adiana whispered the last part. Hermione bit her lip and nodded. “OH MY…when did this happen?!” she shrieked.
“Last night,” Hermione whispered.
Adiana sat their, shocked, for a moment, and then said, “Congratulations, I guess.”
“I was planning on telling everybody at the same time…but…” Hermione’s voice trailed off.
“How’s Harry taking this?”
“I’m not sure. He’s in my room right now.”
Adiana sighed. Typical, she thought. “So…what are you thinking of naming the baby?”
“What’s this about naming a baby?” asked Ron, coming in through the portrait, closely followed by Luna and Ginny.
Hermione blushed furiously and tried to hide the book behind her back. “NOTHING!” she cried.
“Ha! Yeah right,” Ron said, and he went over and grabbed the book from her. He slowly read the title and then looked up with a quizzical expression at Hermione who was biting her lips. Luna and Ginny walked up behind Ron and read the book title. They looked at each other, and then at Hermione.
“Hermione?” Ginny whispered. Hermione’s eyes filled with tears and Adiana pulled her into a hug.
“Oh god,” Luna said, raising a hand to her mouth.
“Did I miss something here?” Ron asked, looking around at all of the upset girls.
“Miss what?” Theia asked, giggling. “Neville’s going to be here soon, he’s just talking to Dean and Nathan…what’s wrong?”
Ron shoved the book under her nose. Theia looked at it…then at the other girls…then back at the book…and then at Hermione, who was still crying.
Theia smiled for a second before quickly hiding it. She went over and sat on the other side of Hermione and took her hand.
“What is going on here?!” Ron shouted.
“I’M PREGNANT!” Hermione shouted, and just as she did so, the portrait opened and in walked Neville, Dean, Nathan, and Brianna. Adrian’s door also opened, as did Hermione’s, and he and Harry walked into the common room.
“Woah,” whispered Nathan.
“Hermione, darling, it’s nothing to be upset about!” Brianna said as she sat down on the table across from her.
“Yes it is!” Hermione wailed. “I—I just can’t be! I’m too—young! Still—in school!” Adiana handed her a handkerchief.
Ginny, who had finally come out of shock turned to glare at Harry, mentally saying, Harry, you should be the one over here comforting her, not us!”
Harry, taking Ginny’s cue, went over and shooed Theia out of her spot and sat down. He pulled Hermione out of Adiana’s arms and encircled his own around her. “Shh…Hermione everything will be okay,” he whispered. “We’ll get through this, I promise. I love you, and I’ll love this baby, no matter what.”
Hermione sniffled. “You will? Promise?”
“I promise you that I will love you and this baby…no matter what happens.”
Hermione smiled a teary smile. “Okay,” she whispered. Harry wiped her tears away and then kissed her lightly on her lips.
Ginny looked over at Dean who was standing two feet away from her. Her eyes said sorry, and he knew it. He nodded at her and held out his hand. She took it and leaned into him, smiling sadly.
Adiana, watching this happen, looked at Adrian who was also watching. He looked at her and held her gaze for a minute before flicking his eyes to his door. She got up and followed him in.
***
“Why did you do it?” Adiana whispered after a minute.
“Because…I was drunk,” Adrian admitted. “And because I couldn’t find you.”
“You don’t actually have any feelings for her?”
“Are you kidding? Adiana, you know I’ve loved you since…what? First year?”
She laughed. He held open his arms for her and she fell into his hug. Everything would be okay.

Chapter Thirteen: The Right Decision
“What do you think about Emma?” Hermione asked her friends a week later, the baby name book propped open in her knees.
Hermione and Harry had gone and told Dumbledore, who had then instructed them to tell Madame Pomfrey, which they had done. She had given Hermione some potions and had checked every other day that the baby was doing okay (she was going a bit overboard, but Hermione didn’t mind). Naturally, after two days, word was out, and the whole school knew.
“Nah, way to common,” said Adiana who was sitting on the floor, leaning against Adrian’s legs.
Hermione sighed. “Is every name I pick horrible?”
“Yes,” the girls answered her.
Harry laughed, and put his arm around her. “I have an idea,” he said, “How about everybody writes a their favourite boy name and favourite girl name on a piece of paper and we decided from those.”
“Okay,” Hermione sighed. She took out piece of parchment, ripped it into ten pieces, and handed one to everyone else, who had taken out quills of their own.
There were a few minutes of chin scratching and thinking, and then scribbling. Then all of the pieces of parchment were handed back to Hermione. She read them, and then on another piece of parchment, made two lists: one for boy’s names, and one for girls. Then she read them aloud to everyone.
“Okay, for boy’s names we have James, Adrian, Christopher, Daniel, Jesse, Mark, Shaun, Will, Joshua, and Frank.” Hermione took a deep breath and went onto the girl’s names. “For girls we have Lily, Ashley, Kelly, Samantha, Adiana, Isabella, Rei, Hope, Alexia, and Alice.” She stopped reading, bent over the table, and circled some names.
“Okay,” she said after a minute. “I’ve narrowed down my favourite out of all of these, and they are James, Shaun, and Will. For girls, my favourites are Lily, Kelly, Isabella, Hope, Rei, and Alexia.”
Hermione then handed the parchment to Harry, who glanced it over, and crossed out the names he didn’t like. Then he handed it back to Hermione.
Hermione read out the names that were still left. “James…okay so if it’s a boy we’ll name him James…and Lily and Isabella.” She sighed. “How about we name it, if it’s a girl, Isabella Lily?” she looked at Harry, who smiled and nodded. “Okay…and now a middle name. How about…James Harry? I know that’s a little cliché, but…”
“No, I think they’re great,” Harry reassured her, kissing her gently. Hermione smiled at him, then looked down at her belly.
“You hear that? If you’re a boy your name’s going to be James Harry…and if you’re a girl, your name’s going to be Isabella Lily. Preferably, I hope you’re a girl,” she said, and everyone laughed.
***
Ginny knocked on the door to Hermione’s room a week later. “Come in,” she heard Hermione call, and so she did.
“Hey, Hermione,” Ginny said quietly, poking her head inside. Hermione was in her pyjamas sitting on her bed. Ginny went and joined her.
“Hey,” Hermione smiled. She had been going to sleep a bit earlier than usual (she had read it was good for babies). “What’s up, Gin?”
“I…I dunno if I’m making the right choice.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, I don’t know if I should really be with Dean! He’s great and everything, but…and I really was drunk when this happened…kissing Adrian was really…nice. And…oh god…I liked it!” she wailed, tears filling her eyes.
This was not what Hermione had been expecting. “Oh…” she said. “Well…Ginny, you were drunk…maybe it wasn’t really as…nice…as you remember it to be.”
“But what do I do, Hermione?!”
“I don’t know,” Hermione mumbled.
“But you have to!”
“Well…maybe…tell Dean you need to take a break for a while. Clear you head of the whole Adrian thing. I’m sure he’ll understand. He loves you, Ginny.”
Ginny sniffled. “Okay. Thanks, Hermione, you’re the best,” she said, hugging her friend.
Hermione smiled. “Now, go and get some sleep, and tell him in the morning.”
“Okay. Goodnight!” Ginny hugged her once more and then left the room.
***
“Good morning!” Hermione said cheerfully the next morning. She kissed Harry and sat down beside him. He tried to smile at her, but it came out more like a grimace.
“What’s wrong with everybody?” she asked. As soon as the question was out, Adiana stood up and stormed out of the Great Hall. Hermione watched her go, and then turned to look at her other friends.
“Hey…where’s Dean?” she asked, looking to Ginny for an answer.
“Over there,” Neville said quietly, and pointed to where Dean, Seamus, Lavender, and Parvati were sitting.
Hermione looked at Ginny, who nodded and then looked back down at her untouched cereal. Hermione sighed. Ginny had clearly told him they needed a break…but what had been her exact words?
That question was answered two hours later, during a free period.
“Ginny! What did you tell Dean?!” Hermione cried from her spot on the couch as Ginny entered the heads’ common room.
Ginny sat down beside Hermione. “I…I told him that we needed to take a break. When he asked why, I told him I didn’t know if I was in love with him anymore. I told him that I thought I was in love with Adrian too.
“I found Adrian after, and told him too. He said he didn’t know what he was going to do, because he loved Adiana, but he said he felt something when we kissed.” Ginny paused here, and sighed. “Then Adiana found us. She had heard the whole thing.” Ginny looked down at her fingers, which had been playing with a pillow nervously.
“Oh no,” Hermione breathed, unable to say anything else.
Ginny laughed, and smiled sadly. “Naturally everyone found out, and now they all hate me because I’ve broken Adrian and Adiana up.” A tear slipped out of her eye.
“Oh, Ginny,” Hermione whispered, pulling her friend into a hug. What was going to happen?

A/N: YAY! reviews!!! that makes me soo happy! Anyways, here is another chapter, and it's pretty long! Just to remind everyone, Dumbledore is not dead yet, but sixth year with him telling Harry about the horcruxes did. Just so nobody's confused during this chapter. Enjoy, and please review!
Chapter Fourteen: A Note from Dumbledore
Albus Dumbledore fell back into his chair behind the desk in his office. Wiping the sweat off of his brow, he heaved a sigh of relief. It was done.
Fox the Phoenix chirped from where he was perched on a hat stand laden with cloaks. Dumbledore’s twinkling eyes found the birds, and he smiled.
“I do believe,” said Dumbledore, “That we must request a meeting with our Mister Potter.”

Harry, Ron and Ginny walked back from Quidditch practice. They were muddy and wet and mostly annoyed. Ron was ecstatic after their third Quidditch practice with the Chudley Cannons; Harry and Ginny were feeling as far from ecstatic as possible.
The Chudley Cannons had been giving them plays to work on. One of the plays had both beaters fly at each other to distract the other team. So, Coote and Peake
