REAPER
http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd169/Tattooed-Geek/reapercast.jpg
Throughout Sam's life, he always wondered why his mom and dad were so easy on him. Whether it was sports, school, career choices, or picking on his little brother Keith, Sam always got away with everything. Because of it, he decided to drop out of college and take a dead beat job, wasting most of his time playing video games and wishing he could ask his coworker Andi out. However, everything changes in Sam's life once he turns 21 and finds out the reason his parents let him get over was because they sold his soul to the devil before he was born.
Satan explains to Sam that he must serve as his bounty hunter, tracking down souls that have escaped from Hell. Initially, Sam refuses to accept his fate but he realizes the grave consequences of breaking a deal with the devil. He is armed with various vessels to collect the escapees. Sam finds that the work is dangerous and frightening even with the goof ball help of his friends and fellow slackers Sock and Ben, and Sock's former girlfriend, Josie. As bizarre as his life becomes, Sam feels good about his new found "missions", removing evil souls from the world and sending them back to where they belong. Along with his friends and his vessel of the week, Sam prepares to face his destiny as the "reaper".

Alright, now that I've got that out of the way...
Has anyone here seen the pilot episode of the show yet? I was able to procure (

) a copy of the original pilot which will never air. This version has Nikki Reed in the starring role of Andi, personally I didn't find her too great in the role, she just didn't feel the part. Which is probably why they recast the role to Missy Peregrym. Not to mention, IMO, Missy is much easier on the eyes.
Without giving too much away, Tyler Labine as Sock steals the show. He gets all the best jokes and he's the best friend Sam could ever ask for.
The show is hilarious and has a good amount of action considering it's a dramedy (drama/comedy), which really surprised me. This was directed by Mr. Clerks himself, Kevin Smith, who isn't known for big action sequences. It works though. However, the special effects could be better, I'm willing to look past them for the simple fact of it being a pilot episode for the CW.
All in all I would give the pilot a solid 9 out of 10, it thoroughly entertained me. Check it out when the pilot airs Sept. 25th.

I like Nikki Reed, though Missy sure is hotter, I hope she could at least make an appearance in Heroes next season.
I'm really looking forward to watching this show, it sure looks good, and now that Tattoo gives such a good review of the pilot, I'm confident it could do big in its freshman season
any chance on telling us how we could "procure" a copy too?
EDIT: Nevermind, found one

Yeah, not actually allowed to tell about how to go about doing that stuff on KMC.

Could get Raz in trouble for allowing bad file sharing to go on. Glad you found one.
Let us know what you think of it after you've seen it.

will do
I just gotta wait for the "delivery boy" to bring it fast

DARKLORDCAEDUS
Reaper looks like a good show. But I think that it should have been shown behind Supernatural.

I just had my brother watch it for the first time. He loved it.

He usually doesn't watch TV but is anticipating this one being on the air now.
vivando-loca
sounds interesing.

This show looks HILARIOUS!!! I can't wait to see it and am jealous of those with "procurement" measures
I also found this cool video on YouTube:

I'm glad Missy made the final cut- big fan of hers from Heroes...
S_D_J
took my sweet time, but I was finally able to see it.
Great Show.
I was gonna give an elaborate review (I wrote it actually) , but I accidentally hit the refresh button and it' all when to hell, so I'm just gonna say this:
you should not miss this show when it premieres, It is good.
it is funny, but not stupid. it's entertaining. the situation may be far fetched, but it's a show that's really down to earth, without fantasizing too much
Sock it's a great character, and he's sure to keep you laughing
I cant see what good it's to change Andi, she doesn't seen to work other than as a love interest, I hope that changes in following episodes
FX are good, they could be better but work great for a TV show. The firefighter on fire looks awesome
and there's action too, Smith gets away with Jedi Powers again, though this time they actually work (both in the story and onscreen)
8 out of 10 for me
looking forward to see what's change from this pilot and what will air sept 25 ( other than having Missy in it of course)
If maintain well, this show could last a long time on TV... or at least 3 seasons

Don't you just HATE when that happens???!!
Well, anyway, the breakdown is much appreciated! I also found this review and I think it elaborates on some of your points:

Tyler Labine sounds like a natural sidekick...

Eugh, watched the reshoot of the pilot...all the scenes they had to redo with Missy Peregrym made me cringe. Not because of Missy, I like her take on the character better than Nikki Reed, but because of continuity errors.
The character of Sam has a slight mustache in the new scenes, and these scenes interweave with the old scenes so he's got a mustache, then he doesn't, then he does, then he doesn't.
This should be a one time only mistake, I hope the second episode does a bit better. The show is still awesome, but that really stood out to me.
Solo
A tad similar to Dead Like Me, but still a pretty entertaining show.
S_D_J
many people compared it to Dead like Me, and I cant see why...
other than the name, there's no actual Reaper in the show, unlike "Dead like me", he is a bounty hunter, not a Reaper... not to mention that even though Dead like Me was a good funny show, it was dramatic and depressing, whereas Reaper tries, and is Funny all through out the episode
haven't seen the new pilot,... but continuity errors would certainly bother me....
let just hope the show stays fun and fresh in its first season
Darth Vicious
I watched it last night. I thought it was pretty good. I thought it was only gonna be half hour episodes. I like the fact that in every episode he might use diffrent things to capture the demons. The big guy is pretty funny. I'll watch it for a couple more episodes.
chickenlover98
this show is hilarious. ersonally its my fav of the new shows. i hope it continues with an audience id hate for it to be canceled
Ordained
I find that this show is really entertaining. I like how they have Tyler Labine as the goofy, happy-go-lucky side-kick. With out him, this show would be a lousy dramady.
DARKLORDCAEDUS
Ray Wise is wasting his talent. He steals each scene he is in. Woody's bro Brett should've taken better acting lessons. Next weeks show should improve on some things.
chickenlover98
lol this is the only show where i havent seen any of the actors. except for the hispanic one. i think he's great for his role

I'm really happy with the direction the show is going. I can't imagine Nikki Reed as Andi anymore. Her version of Andi was so uptight and prissy. With Missy Peregrym she seems like a fun loving chick who any guy would love to be with. This past episode when she pulled that prank on Ted, priceless.

Does the CW website reshow these episodes? i wanna watch it from 1... looks good

Sure does... http://cwtv.com/cw-video/reaper
Doesn't look like they have the latest episode up right now, I could be wrong though.
ragesRemorse
the show seems to have potential. Even though it seems as though it will struggle to find its stride at first it is a fairly frsh show. I highly doubt it will take on though.
Did Smith direct thr pilot or a latter show?

Pilot
chickenlover98
teh best new show imo. hope the cw and others can produce shows of this quality more often
=Tired Hiker=
This show is still running strong in my book, and I've seen every episode that has aired. I love how the plot keeps thickening regarding the big picture and the on-going story lines like . . . is he dating the devil's daughter? Will he ever bone Andy? And I love how his contract with the devil is the size of a HUGE book! Also, I think it'd be cool if Sock were to turn evil for a few episodes . . . it seems to be foreshadowed quite a bit with his fascination for the Devil and the evil doers, but hey, that could just be his character. Long live Reaper!!!! Have a bad day!
Passione
This is going to start in a few days over here in Britain.
papabeard
Anyone like this?
Its a TV show written by Kevin Smith about a kid whos parents sold his soul to the devil and the kid has to retrieve evil souls that have escaped from hell and send them back.
I saw the first episode on E4 this week, thought it was pretty good, it made me laugh out loud quite a few times and good use of that Silversun Pick Ups song, characters seemed likeable not sure about the tone of the show though, see how it goes.
Tempe Brennan
Kevin Smith as in Clerks?
Toku King
It wasn't written by Kevin Smith. The pilot episode was directed by him, though.
Anyways, it's easily one of the best new shows out there. Funny, action packed, and alluring.
ragesRemorse
I really hope this show catches on. It seemed to be doing fairly well before the writers strike. I wonder if people have forgotten about it though
ragesRemorse
I feel bad for not having time to watch this show. It is one of the freshest shows to me. I thoroughly enjoy it and take it as a replacement for Dead like me. Does anyone know if this show is doing well in ratings? I know a second season has been confirmed, but, last i heard. the show was hurting for ratings.
MildPossession
I watched the first episode but didn't get much out of it, so didn't bother. Not really into anything that has Kevin Smith involved. Plus it's on at the same time as the new series of CSI here, and CSI always gets the viewing from me.
oakling
I watched this for the first time the other week because it had Michael Ian Black as part of a gay couple. I really liked what they did with it (although I was a little disappointed by the ending) but sadly I didn't record any other episodes after that so I don't have any closure! Maybe it's on a website somewhere.
papabeard
Its not great, in fact I havent really watched passed the first few episodes, its very simplistic and a little childish, but not in a good way.
ragesRemorse
i think its funny, just to redundant. I'm watching it just for silly dialogue. Each episode is the same. its a lot of fun to me
ragesRemorse
I finally finished watching the last 7 episodes and i must say that im impressed. It took a while, but the show finally established an over all plot with many sub-plots. The first six episodes were all essentially the same show, much like X-files, just a new monster each week. Other than the comedy, which is very good, there wasn't much keeping me coming back for another episode. Once they started taking a few risks with the story and ending each show with a bit of a cliffhanger, the show became an entirely new beast. For all of you who gave up on the show early on. I suggest watching a few of the later episodes.
S_D_J
funny thing... I only watched the pre-air pilot, but couldn't really watch the whole show.... And now it's starting to air down here, so I just finished re-watching the pilot (5 minutes ago).
I still have to watch the entire season, but based on ratings all around the web, the show did pretty well for its first year... hopefully more people will watch next season... I hate when good shows get canceled (Jericho s2 was amazing), while other crap is allow to comeback...
Toku King
I have the first season on my iPod.
ragesRemorse
really, I thought the First season tanked on ratings.

Unfortunately, ratings have little to do with show quality most of the time. It's a sad, sad truth. Maybe some day people will wake up and smell the good TV!

ragesRemorse
Yeah, doubtfully. I think with a better time slot, Reaper could flourish.
