At this point all I know is that they are planning a Saw 5 and Saw 6 which they do not have story lines for yet. Depending on the success of Saw 4 they will either make more or stop dead at Saw 4. In my humble opioun I reckon they should stop at Saw 4 and end it, but it looks like we might just be getting a whole lot more of Saw movies.

As many as it takes before the series eventually becomes another Nightmare on Elm Street/Friday the 13th/Halloween/Child's Play/Hellraiser-type series.

Oh, wait.............it already is. ermm

steverules
At least hellraiser has ended...right?

Discos
yep most likely 6.

check out wikipedia and search for the Saw Franchize and it'll give you some deets there. The man above posted the tag there.

Wolfie
6 at least.

I guess you can say that. Hellraiser 8 didn't have a "Pinhead is dead for good" ending but with the remake being made, I assume the series is done.

And I thought Children of the Corn was milking it.

5 and 6? 4 isn't even out and it will suck like 2 & 3!

Saw 1 made $54 million. Saw II made $82 million. Saw III made $70 million. And that's not including DVD sales and DVD double-dip sales.

Saw is way too profitable for little Lionsgate to sit on and not make more sequels.

Tyranno-Chris
what's the point of a new one? they're all the same, putting people in situations that gets worse as the movie continues. I wanna see a real movie, like HATCHET.

As long as they made good movies, they can make as many as they want, i really like those movies!

SelphieT
Didn't Tobin sign a contract for 7?

Which doesn't necessarily mean there will be 7, but there will be at most I assume.....

Pandemoniac
Bell has signed for 4 & 5 at least, and indeed for maybe even more sequels. Not sure.
Kinda bothers me, as in order to keep Jigsaw a main protagonist in the upcoming movies they'll probably go the 'flashback-way' or do some origins of jigsaw stuff. 'Saw the Beginning' comes to mind...
They should have let it end with part 3, anymore movies will probably ruin what was interesting about the jigsaw killer in the first place.

Yeah, they'll have to do that if they want Amanda or Jigsaw to show up.

We'll just have to wait and see.

As long as the SAW movies continue to be hits and make a profit there will be a Saw movie every two years or so.

godzillaman99
There starting to get really suckish... the third one was bad...

He's contracted to 10, I believe.

Saw 3 would've been a nice finish, given the ending. But with Saw 4, they have to keep going. The ending was too much of a cliffhanger.

Sicky666
some movies might never stop. Like Hellraiser, Halloween and the Chucky series also went pretty far. With some they stop at three because it might not be so good as the first parts but I enjoyed Saw I and II, III I didn't saw yet but till this far the movies are pretty great, this is good horror to my opinion.

coolmovies
This is gonna turn into a long saga for horrar fans . I think four is enough

Did you see 4? That'd be a really bad ending to the series. If they planned on stopping the series, the ending to 3 would've been nice.

amlap
well get saw movies till our pockets are bone dry!

BerserkGene
Well you have to keep in mind that Saw never happens in sequence,so generally the movies will flashback and flashforward between the events of the present timeline of each film. It's why the notion of the Saw series going all the way up up to a sixth film doesn't sound so farfetched, with each movie you get more and more insight on the whole Saw universe.

Typically critics pan the Saw series for it's style of storytelling, but then we have shows like Lost that get praised for it.So go figure......

Anyway,it seems to me that one of Saw V's main focuses should be Jigsaw's dilemma of choosing either Amanda or Hoffman as his heir. The fifth movie will almost undoubtedly show how Hoffman became a Jigsaw follower in the first place, and reveal just how long Jigsaw and Hoffman have been in cahoots.(my guess is that it goes as far back as Saw II,it would explain how Jigsaw got his hands on so much confidential info)

I'd also like to see Saw V dive a bit more into Amanda.I mean, even though Amanda won Jigsaw's game and got a second chance at life, you can say that Jigsaw might of unwillingly released her homicidal tendencies.Although it would be hard to say whether or not she's a natural born killer,or if her rivalry with Hoffman pushed her over the edge. And then maybe this is why they planned Amanda's test in Saw III.So yeah,I'd really like if Saw V explores this concept.

celestialdemon
Sadly, these movies will probably keep coming out until people stop watching them. I never saw the appeal in these movies. The first one was pretty good but had it's extremely dumb moments, Danny Glover's character especially. The rest of the movies have just been pointless glorified torture-porn with no solid story.

Evil Dead
f-ck it. let them make Saw 23.

There has been Friday the 13th 1-8, Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, Freddy vs Jason..............for no reason whatsoever. Saw is atleast making money at the box office.........

atleast these movies make money unlike all the Hellraiser, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St., Leprachaun, Childs Play, etc. sequels. Hell.....they started putting some of those out straight to DVD.

Have you even seen the rest of the Saw movies? Jigsaw gets more and more character development with each movie,we get to see what drove him to become the man that constantly evaluates life, and tests whether or not an individual is worthy of life. I mean seriously,I don't think Jigsaw's motives are *that* hard to understand.Have you ever seen the show Intervention on A&E? Sometimes you just want to smack some sense into the people on that show.Well that's what Jigsaw does, but it's much more than a simple smack. =)

If you want pointless torture porn,go watch Hostel I and II.I just saw Hostel II and it's almost as dumb as the first one.The first half of Hostel is comparable to movies like Road Trip,Van Wilder,or Porky's and is mind-numbingly stupid and boring, while the second half just throws in a bunch of people getting stabbed by spoons or something.Hostel II is pretty much the same thing, instead just substitute girls for guys.So far the only detailed thing in either movie is the gore itself, there are no actual characters in both films.Right now it's just young people back-packing in Europe, they somehow get lured to the Hostel,sh*t happens.Pfft, the scene in Hostel II where the girl gets hanged upside down.....I mean geez, her ultimate demise was like something out of a student film.

I didn't say this motives are hard to understand. I understand the story just fine. I just said it wasn't a solid story, and the movies were pointless. Test whether individuals are worthy of life? "Um, you faked being sick a few times so you can call into work. Let's put you through an elaborate torture game and see if you try calling in again, you wicked bastard." Sorry, but that doesn't sound like a very effective story.

The thing that puts me off with movies is that they make a noce box set like Saw Quadrilogy and they say they are gonna make more . whats the point in buying the set ?

The Storyline For SAW 5 I Think......

Hoffman Needs To Find A Way To Stop The Police Finding Out He Is The ne Carrying On Jigsaws Legacy.
But Im Not Entirely Sure...I Got That Idea From IMDB

cropsy_is_god
We've had too many already but i would think at least another 2 will happen the way horror films are coming out these days.

coolmovies

beer The new one coming out, will be the last, but who knows, this could be another franchise that simply wont die

jabjabcross
I liked the first one and the second one. It is a fun series but maybe they should segway into something else similar but not exactly the same.

ADarksideJedi
According to the Morning call they are making one more and that is it.

smile They have said that at some point with every horror franchise though, and they dont stop, Freddys dead was meant to be it,then came ''New nightmare'' and then Jason goes to Hell, then along came Jason x,etc

Sith Master X
I'm sad. I love the SAW films. All of them have been great except the 5th. Sad for me to see the series go. I'm sure everyone else is happy about it though. lol

Aw well. It's been a fun ride. I don't like the films for the traps. The traps I could care less about. I like the SAW movies because they always had a creative storyline that played out until the twist at the end of the film. Then it took everything and warped it. Pretty cool stuff.

mrblue
they said at Comic-Con its supposed to be the "last" one. its also been welcomed into the world records book for being the most successful horror franchise cheers

The Saw film out this year is officially the last one apparently, they have mixed in what would have been the last film's story next year into the release this year.

29th of October release date.

The Nuul
About time that this crap is ending soon.

MildPossession
You don't have to watch them...

We heard that a lot from the Friday the 13th makers back in the 1980's; they didn't stop.

MildPossession
Well these guys went into how much the last film made and so on, it didn't make as much money as the rest in the series, and have decided not to make Saw next year. Everything is going to tie up on the 29th of October, so there will be nothing more to film... we shall see.

laughing out loud That will not surprise me either

smokin' On a serious note,I could be wrong but my years as a horror fan is telling me that anyone who believes this will be the last Saw,is a fool.

BackFire
I thought the last Saw movie was the best in the series. Wasn't very good even then, but was enjoyable and had a fun topical nature that I always like in schlocky horror movies. Probably for the best this series ends, though. Maybe they'll start putting their money into some new horror movies now.

MildPossession
Not really, the way they have been going on about it being the last, bringing in lower box office, bringing what would have been the story for the next year into this one and so on makes it seem like it could be official. They didn't go on so openly like that for the other times they said this will 'be the last'. Oh and making it 3D to cash in on the trend to try and make more money on it. Even the guy who saws his foot off in the first one is back in the new film, and not in flashbacks.

We will soon see in a few months time.

mrblue
they may say itll be the last one and it maybe the last one a few years but somewhere down the road there will be a Saw 8, prequal, spin off, or remake.

It may do, the silly buggers who will go spend the higher price of seeing it in 3D...

roughrider
Lionsgate does produce some quality pictures. Can we blame them if they want to keep a low budget cash cow like this going, if it helps them finance more respectable films?
I'd like to think that was the reasoning by Paramount Pictures in the 1980's, doing all those Friday The 13th films; an accidental franchise, according to Sean S. Cunningham.

MildPossession
Of course Lionsgate produce some good films, they have been involved in a lot of good films. But aren't Twisted Pictures the main company behind the Saw films over Lionsgate.

smile I agree, but I do think if the movie uses decent 3D effects it does make the experience more enjoyable,The main reason I dont like 3D is cause when u watch a movie in 2D at home the bits that were purposely made to be in 3D look stupid, and I havent tried a 3D tv yet,but watching 3D at home sucks
