I also done respect threads for pretty much everyone in the Valiant Universe. I was a huge fan of them.

Um, that sure didn't look like he was having an easy time to me...

It's probably because he didn't believe it was possible that is until he tried like the scans say.

Anyway he seems pretty strong gotta start looking out for him.

What was so impressive about the telepath that fought Solar?

i've known about this guy for a long time but i never thought he was that powerful!! his costume kinda threw me off (looks like a red version of 70's to early 80's uncanny x-men cyclops).

Actually it's the otherway round Doctor Solar came out for Gold Key in that costume in 1962. Cyclops resembles him. It was termed the Jaques Cousteu (is that how it's spelt) look.

I have the Gold Key series of Doctor Solar in trade, it was a superb run!

Not bad thread.

I would make a different thread for Gold Key. I can help but people will get confused and they aren't really the same...sort off.

I agree, I don't know if your into prestige nostalgia editions, i'm guessing you might be. They have turned some of Dan Lawrences old Trigan Empire into that format as well.

I've been an avid collector of Solar comics for quite a long time.

During the time when I was reading the comic, the biggest weakness I've known Solar to have is that he's just too powerful for his own good. He sometimes absorbs/generates SO MUCH power that he effs up a TON of stuff and he then suddenly flies into a fit of self-pity and depression. Lol.

He HAS shown a weakness with regards to Magic, tho (as shown in his battles vs Dr. Eclipse).

Well, the new Solar seems to act a whole less emo than the previous one.

Solar would TRASH any of the DC and Marvel top tier superheroes.

He'd make the likes of Superman his beeyatch.

One of his cooler feats is that he converts his body to Tachyons so that he can STOP time so that he can give himself time to asses a situation before deciding on a course of action to take.

There have been claims throughout the versus forum (as well as in this very thread,) that Solar is/was weak to the highest levels of magic. Well, that's not really the case at all.

When Doctor Eclipse (who is one of the most powerful 'dark magic' users in the Valiant-verse,) battled Solar the first time - he did end up getting the better of him:

Yeah, I stopped reading Valiant after they decided to do the change. I was more of an Aric fan than anything else. And Aric being lost in the change was actually enough to make me quit reading comics altogether.

It seems that Solar had a MASSIVE upgrade from his previous incarnation, tho.

Solar was always powerful, more or less. His humanity is what restrained his actions.

Well if you liked Solar. I recommend v2 and Revelation. Its more of a 2 part mini series. Hell on Earth was a bit disappointed. I feel as if the direction of the character was lost.

You should also post the scan where he used residual energy from the Japan dragonship to vaporise 1/3 of a massive spider alien invasion fleet in one blast.

Not as impressive as his other uber feats but was probably the coolest.

Wasn't a Solar Issue. Was a Rai issue I think. When the Spider Aliens finally invaded earth and Mother and 1-A merged to lift the whole island of japan into the big dragonship to meet the invasion fleet.

I can't remember w/c issue tho but that was an early issue of Rai when he was still the guy who can make energy weapons and not the nanite guy.

I don't save my comics cuz they take up too much room.

A merging of Void, and Solar's 'other half' would have laid waste to the creation(s) from which both of them came (ie. Valiant and Image.)

It is ultimately revealed that every version of Solar we have seen in Dynamite(including Erica) represents an infinitesimal sliver of Solar's true/complete power... A micro-fraction of his totality.

Moreover, it is revealed that 'Solar-Prime' is not only omnipotent(literally), but his mind is infinite as well -- IOW, he also possesses literal omniscience. This enabled him to create a full-fledged multiverse(ie. the whole of Dynamite Comics) with, basically, a subconscious afterthought. Even more impressive is that the energy Solar expended to achieve this feat was so minuscule(relative to him, of course) that he didn't even realize he'd spawned an infinite amount of universes at first, lol.

The event culminates with Solar erasing all but the one mainstream Dynamite-universe, and undoing the event which originally transformed him into Solar... Essentially erasing his entire character history:
