This respect thread is dedicated to handsome whitehaired devil hunter with hot demonic blood running through his veins. An expert fighter, swordmaster and gunslinger, the legitimate heir of power of the strongest demonic warrior, who has surpassed his legendary father, Dante is driven by revenge.
Demons have killed his mother and separated him from his twin brother, so he decides to kill all the demons so eventually he'll take his revenge on those who's responsible for killing his family.

His mastery with weapons (most part of his arsenal are hell-forged weaponry with supernatural mystical powers, so called Devil Arms) seems supernatural itself, but he has wast number of superhuman powers to add in there. Even in human form he demonstrates incredible healing factor (Wolverine turns green with envy), superhuman speed (both in terms of movement and reaction speed) and agility, as well as a degree of superhuman strength. While awakening his demonic powers (Devil triggering) he gets access to even more powers- his whole body changes, turning him into powerful winged demon who is able to channel mystical powers of his Devil Arms into himself, becoming thr demonic embodiment of certain elemental powers.

About the respect thread:
1. The thread is based on the adaptation of DMC1 plot made by Dreamwave. That adaptation was approved by Capcom and along with DMC3 manga by Chayamachi Suguro are comsidered canon to the mainstream DMCverse. It means that the version of Dante featured there is basically the same as in-game one (though comics concentrate on smaller part of Dante's powerset compared to the one shown in games...for example, only a part of Dante's arsenal was demonstrated there). So some ingame stuff is acceptable when discussing\debating comics version, but NO cutscenes will be posted in the thread.
2. The previously done thread contained some factual mistakes regarding Dante's arsenal etc. I don't want to discuss those there, since here I'm going to concentrate on comics appearances, not on ingame stuff.
3. Despite having comics apparances canon to major storyline, be careful while trying to use game-originated character in versus threads for comics section.

We start with some boring daily (or I'll better say nigtly) routine of our beautiful demon hunter- tracking down and killing some minor demons that imprisoned a stripper girl. Also the background description of Dante (being told by some of his former mercenary buddies) is given.

Dante vs Trish

Trish is a demonic creature, created by high demonic lord and self proclaimed king of hell Mundus in his attempt to lure the offspring of his bitter enemy, Legendary Dark Knight Sparda, in a trap. She looks just like Dante's deceased mother to ensure that Dante would follow her without asking too many questions. Trish posesses superhuman strength, agility and lightning-related powers.

It the fight Dante displays incredible regeneration and pain tolerance (being literally pinned to the wall with his own electrfied sword, he still controls the whole fight, and the wound completely heals in a couple of seconds after he removes the sword from his body), as well as the ability to his guns with demonic energy (the bullets itself are most probably made of such energy, that's why Dante has infinite ammo and is able to control the power of his shots) to obliterate a motorcycle thrown into him by Trish in seconds.

The swords forged by demons are said to be able to cut through almost anything on the human plane of reality. Here Dante proves that, effortlessly cutting an "entrance" in the stone wall of the castle on Mallet Island which was built as Mundus sanctuary. Though the castle itself is enchanted and shapeshifting and the wall "heals" immediately after Dante gets inside the castle.

Dante vs the inhabitants of the castle

While walking around the castle, Dante meets some demonic marionettes. He quicky ends that puppet play.

Dante vs Phantom

That's the first encounter of Dante with the demonic behemoth with the insides composed of lava and hellfire. Dante displays agility (running up the walls), durability (he demonstrates good heat\fire resistance by diving into Phantom's fiery body to kill him from inside while in human form) and smart fighting.

Dante vs Nero Angelo (Vergil):first encounter

Dante's long lost twin brother has been turn by Mundus into his demonic leutenant, Nero Angelo. His human self is sealed and we see demonic one. Still, he doesn't kill his brother in their first encounter- he flees imediately after he sees a half of Perfect Amulet (a memory thing given to both Dante and Vergil when they were kids, the half also contains the half of a key to their father's full power of high demonic lord) on Dante's neck.

Dante vs Phantom:second encounter

Phantom has survived the first encounter with Dante and evolved into a new form, which is still an easy victim for Dante. Nothing too impressive, exept for two things: Dante is called high demonic lord (or to me more exact, "a demon of highest order" on panel, he also turns demon for a while to show his real nature to Phantom before finally killing him.

Dante vs Vergil:second encounter

The second fight of the brothers results in Dante's loss. Nero Angelo (or Vergil) wounds Dante really badly. He knows how demonic healing factor works, so he makes sure that wound is really serious and deadly (Trish heals Dante eventually).
Dante loses consciousness and sees a dream about his childhood...so we're able to see some of his origin.

Dante and Trish are attacked by some quick demons. While Dante deals with them with style and humour (as well as a good display of reaction speed when a demon tries to disarm him), Trish disappears so Dante has to search for her.

Dante goes underground in search of Trish. After he uses his trusty Alastor sword as a "doormaker" again, he gets into sort of underground lake, where he finds an abandoned ship...and a demonic eagle with the ability to fire energy blasts. Great display of agility from Dante.

Dante vs Vergil:final encounter

Dante finally decides to free his brother's soul once and for all, his Alastor sword is ready for combat and cracks with electricity. A showing of strength and swordmastery. After defeating and "freeing" his brother Dante finally gets the second half of Perfect Amulet and is ready to unlock his father's power, but gets electrocuted by Trish.

As a translator (at least that's what I'm planning to become when I graduate from university) I'm aware of the whole "r"-"l" stuff, so spelling the name (or rather a title) right is no wonder.

He figured that out before their second fight judging by Nero's reaction on amulet on Dante's neck.

I'm planning to upload the feats from DMC3 canonical manga there as well. The scans are in English, but there are few flashy feats since it features young pre-DMC3 Dante (it's set a year before DMC3 storyline).

Sadly, the series were left unfinished by Dreamwave (though there are also some scans of previews etc). I'm going to follow with canon DMC3 manga by Chayamachi Suguro.
It features young pre DMC3 Dante, basically 18 years old. The young man has quit his life as mercenary (he lived under fake name of Tony Redgrave) and with help of his old friend and partner Enzo Ferrino starts his devil hunting business.
Though there's little stuff to do, and Dante suffers from boredom and lack of money, one day he gets a strange job with 4 million $ reward.

Whenever Dante sees dreams on panel, it's always nightmares. But those nightmares show us some of his origin... for example, how he was separated from his brother and how his mother was killed by demons. Dante sometimes hates himself for the fact that he was "too weak" at that time to save his mom from being killed(that's why he shose the path of the warrior and demon hunter).

As a part of his mission Dante ruins some demonic teaparty (the whole mission looks like a play based on Alice in Wonderland). During that he gets bitten by vampire posing as Mad Hatter...and is back to normal in a few seconds.

That's the first part when Dante learns that the kid he was hired to find in fact is a demonic "Alice".

Cool thread by the way.

I like to keep threads on comics and ingame appearances of characters separate (it doesn't matter whether comics are canon to game like in DMC case or just licensed like in KOF case). That just keeps things more organized.

Some more feats from DMC3 manga, this time "Code 2:Vergil".

Our 18years old handsome whitehaired demonic beauty hunts some demons across the roofs of Xpolis (the city was never named in any of DMC canon sources so we only know it's somewhere in America). Some nice acrobatics and swordsmanship (including charging Rebellion with demonic energy to cause an explosion accompanying the hit).

That's not feats but rather a background information. Some details of the life and death of Dante's parents (as well as the diference between Dante and Vergil) is uncovered in the dialogue of Vergil and Arkham as they discuss two things- whether or not Dante will accept his demonic heritage he was struggling against since the loss of his parents and whether or not would he participate in opening the gantes of hell. Vergil thinks that ligical answer for both of those questions would be "no".

Well, I also have a strange habit of keeping RTs on comics\manga and ingame appearances of my favourtie characters separate- so there are separate threads on ingame appearances\versions of Dante and K'- though I keep links to comics ones in my signature. And those two threads (on Dante and on K') were allowed by Digi not to be merged with ingames ones.
That doesn't mean the manga threads are allowed in general, and this one is halfcomics.

After having his amulet stolen, Dante gets to the mysterious church to meet the same demonic Mad Hatter with the same goal of awakening Dante's demonic nature.
This time the success is near, but Dante keeps resisting the transformation- but accepts at least partial transformation, awakening part of his demonic side (flight, increased stats etc).
